About Dead End Hip Hop:
No scripts. It's pure unfiltered hip hop conversations and album reviews. No politics. No BS. We Are The People.
Both Stic Man and Jay Electronica came out and said whilst they gave ideas to Nas they did not write any of Nas lyrics
People always trying to discredit Nas Penmanship lol
@@ikembaojore3877 ts superhuman
Arguably his most underrated album for me even by Nas fans
I like this album I just wish testify was a full song. Slave and master was fire ,Malcom and breathe
Classic album!
Breathe is one of his most underrated songs
I just listened to the untitled album last week after years. I still love it
I feel like Life Is Good is slept on a little. no one talks about it much. But that one also is great
Really?! I thought LIG was considered one of his best albums
@@SHOTBYNOLAN yeah but how many people bring it up? DEHH dont lol. Its Great! but its like, no one really brings it up a lot anymore
Life is Good is either 2nd or 3rd of the best Nas albums from my point of view. It was a grown man’s albums and i’m around Nas age so I really connected with it. I think that’s why it’s slept on. The lyrics are mature. Ranking 1. Illmatic 2. Life Is Good or It Was Written
Life's it's good it's one of my favourites of his discography
Rod still salty Nas won the beef
Myke’s trippin. It Was Written, Lost Tapes, and about half of Stillmatic and God’s Son had phenomenal beats. His beat selection wasn’t always consistent, but when you take a step back and look at his catalog as a whole, he’s rhymed over a lot of amazing beats.
I think that’s what they mean tho. A rapper like Nas should never be rhyming over mediocre beats. Up until he teamed up with Hit Boy, almost every album he released with the exception of Illmatic, Distant Relatives and Life is Good imo, had half of the albums filled with mediocre production. Nastradamus and I Am… particularly had terrible beats even for the times.
If you break it down that’s over 100 songs with bad beats. In his career
@@topbackpodcast2615none of those Hit-Boy albums would crack the top 5 in Nas’s discography. Plus, all the albums I named have way better beats than Life Is Good and Distant Relatives. Nas has been putting out music for 30 years and his hit ratio is higher than most rappers who have been around as long as he has. He has rhymed over a lot of wack beats, but I could also name 100 or more dope beats that he picked.
@@mistahmstthe production on life is good is great...he has one album with majority "bad" beats that was 1999...nastradamus.
@@idolgray I’d say he has some more albums with weak beats, but mostly later in his career. Life is Good had some decent beats and overall, I feel that there are way worse offenders as far as not picking the right beats.
@@mistahmst Magic can TOTALLY crack the top 5! same with KD3! KD3 and Kd2 are better than every nas album after Gods Son besides Life is Good
Nas's most underrated album!!
Myke is hilarious man lmaoooooo
"trynna erase me from yall memory to late im engraved in history"
Always liked this album. I actually listened to it yesterday what a coincidence. Really underrated and never talked about. It’s like TPAB before TPAB
Perfect summary of it. I love it. The only flaw is world go round with Chris. The album is great and really under appreciated
TPAB washed this album. It didn’t age well AT ALL.
@@ArmLegLegArmHead47it aged perfectly
Queens Get The Money, Testify, N****r, Fried Chicken, Sly Fox. This album has so much gems, with the exception of Hero, and Make the World Go Round.. this was overall a solid body of work.
This is one of my favorite Nas albums too, you aint alone Myke. Back in 2008, I remember going to an event to meet Nas, had the album signed by him and everything, so it holds a special place in my heart, as I was a sophomore in High School. I even used one of the tracks for a history project years later, I think it was the Untitled track about Louis Farrakhan
I was in middle school when this dropped, and I remember vividly hitting play and hearing "Queens Get The Money" open the album.
My mind was blown, and I just played it over and over again trying to catch everything he was saying
This is a great choice to revisit, honestly. I've wanted to hear Myke and Beezy go in-depth on Untitled for awhile.
This was one of those top-tier NaS albums.
.
I place this with Illmatic, It Was Written, and King's Disease.
.
I love all those songs off of the albums.
.
.
Rod really a Jay-Z fan and it shows!
Lol facts
I mean he is the telling the truth. The album wasn’t all that good and I have majority of his albums and Im a Jay fan also.
I always liked this one
Proclamation, Be a Naga too, Fear of The Black Mans Dick & Cops keep firing. Another Amazing Era of Nasir Jones
Maat Hotep
First
Like so Many Nas albums that don’t get the props the deserve. This is a amazing album and so well put together.
Myke the Kid C Town back in da building!!!
Myke funny AF
The album perfectly reflects Nas’s career, some incredible highs and head scratching lows.
Out of interest, what are the lows? I know people criticise this album for Hero and Make The World Go Round but I think Hero is a banger and MTWGR isn't awful. I think this is his most underrated album personally, some of his best stuff is on here
Agreed to me illmatic and it was written are his only perfect albums not including the run he’s on with hitboy. The rest of his albums are good to very good but flawed.
Way more incredible highs to his head scratching lows.
@@c.lvr2602 Those two are definitely lows, but I did enjoy them both when I was in middle school which was shortly after this album’s release. I think the production on “Black President” is incredibly weak and I think “Project Roach” and “Fried Chicken” are fine, but this album really would’ve benefited from a shorter track list.
@@jasonpierre6108stillmatic? that shit a classic
This is still my favorite Nas album to this day. Fried Chicken, Project Roach, Hero, We're not alone, Sly Fox, Can't stop us now..... I don't skip a song personally it's unquestionably a classic in my opinion.
Were not alone is amazing (so are those others except hero to me i just never hear any love for were not alone)
That whole album was slept on.
The only song I would skip is the one with Chris Brown on it. Game should have just kept that song on his LAX album instead.
Heavily slept on album...
It's not surprising that the 2 HOVengers weren't really into celebrating the album 😂
This is a quality from nas. The only thing that hurts this album is that nas has made better albums lol. The Catalog is so deep this ends up in the bottom half unintentionally. Never understood the hate this one & hip hop is dead gets. Two of the stronger projects of that era.
This album was ok. Some production was alright except for the N*****r (The Slave & The Master) produced by DJ Toomp. That was the hardest beat on there.
Slept so much on this piece feels like I wasn't born yet, yet taping in this album is a gold mine
Cant wait for the Magic 2 review!
I saw the notification pop up earlier today and thought it was the review for that album 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Recording it tonight. It’s dropping this coming Monday @2PM
This album definitely dropped in the Summer during the recession. I still think it’s one of Nas’s best. He spoke on a lot of dope & deep things. Feefo & Rod are trippin’, but I get it. Lol.
Its ok.
Ranking Nas albums is the hardest thing ever.
His rapping performance on "hero"...is strong. The chris brown song is really the only bad song imo..
This album is my favorite Nas album. B
Listened to it today. My Nas greatest
In my top 5 of his discog along with It was Written, illmatic, kd3 and magic
This is a exceIIent album, it is underrated. This album aged weII because the themes covered regarding race relations are stiII relevant.
Agreed
You do realize he has a new album magic
Rod and Feefo are still mad about Ether
13:27 "Shoutout Jay Elect" lmaooo
This is one of those Nas albums where I can confidently say the people who critique him for "weak production" have a point. Not every beat is bad (some are even fairly good), but so many are really mediocre and bland.
Content wise it's very strong though. Have to give it credit for that.
This is the reason why I failed to get in mid 2000s Nas. The production was so bland. Nas is my favorite rapper but these albums are very forgettable.
I thought the production on this album was dope:
Testify
Hero beat was fire
You can't stop us now
N.i$.$.E.R
Fried Chicken
Ya'll My Ni$$as
We're Not Alone
were all fire
The production on Untitled goes with the content. The instruments the samples the tone used are very fitting. The heavy subject matter on this album doesn't need the production you want
@@souvikdeb808insane
I'm rolling wit Myke+Beezy iDk WtF Feefo & Rod on.. this iSh still Nasty !! Beatz + BARS ...Vlad started that Nas beatz wack 💩 & these mofos ran wit it ...Sly Fox so cold 🥶
Ima just call a spade a spade. They’re Jay fans spewing narratives as usual lol. That’s what they’re on. No way did this album age badly. Feefo didn’t even know when Illmatic was released. That should tell you everything you need to know
@@TheRealLeonardWashingtonFeefo didn’t give magna carta or watch the throne great reviews exactly. idk how you say everybody that criticizes anything by nas are jay Stans foh 😂
@@romaretaylor9953 said what I said
@@TheRealLeonardWashingtonand i said what i said 🤷🏾♂️ my statements are based on what they said you going off emotion
Thanks for your thoughts on the album! I’m a longtime fan of yall , appreciate the work!
I’ve got a lot of love for this album and I think it’s severely underrated. I can’t say out the gate that I would place it in my top 3 bc Nas has so many great albums. I saw him and Wu live recently and what struck me is how many bangers he got throughout like 5 different eras of hip hop.
Listened couldn’t even finish.
I like this album but this is the first time I’ve heard anyone praise it like this, like honestly idek if this is a top 10 Nas album
Nas Untitled is super dope
Really looking forward to what y’all think of Magic 2
Dream Hampton said Stic Man and Jay Elect wrote it. They never said it themselves. Jay Elect told MTV News "He has never needed a ghostwriter and never will". Do ya fact checks old niggas. Salute to DEHH's continuous growth regardless. Keep up the great content.
🎯
You’re not Alone is amazing. Def one of my fav Nas albums
Stic & Jay Elect did not write for NaS. If you produce a record you get a writers credit folks should know this.
This album is at the top of Nas's discography
Queens Get The Money!!!
Any surprise the 2 camel warriors dont like this? Stay throwing shade on that man.
Other than “Make the World Go Round” and “Project Roach”, I don’t see why y’all don’t love this album. I was in college when this came out. I was bumping then and I still think it’s quality now. It’s bumped out of my Top 10 now but I still think it’s good. The unofficial Bonus Track “Like Me” was super dope, too.
I love make the world go round because of Chris Brown
I don’t wanna be mean, but this is the epitome of a “typical Nas album”
Queens Get the Money is arguably one my top 5 favorite Nas songs of all time. What an amazing start to a somewhat disappointing album.
I saw Nas perform when this album was out, i still love this album
Illmatic, It Was Written, King's Disease III, Life Is Good, Magic, God's Son, Lost Tapes, Untitled, Magic 2, and King's Disease II. My top 10 Nas projects
7:48 I feel the exact same way about some Canibus albums tbh. Great lyricist whack beats.
When it’s 2025, do the 30 year anniversary of Tupac Me Against the World, that’s my GOAT album
Lol Rod is making himself hate the album off the strength of Jay-Z lol
I knew something was off when they said untitled anniversary. And there it is putting dirt on Nas name I’ve never heard this bullshit rumour before
Rod is such a flaky dude man
I’m sure if Nas stopped releasing albums after NASIR I think they might’ve had a change of though but the KD’s and Magic series I’m like man those albums Lowkey drown those out
love this album. top 6 nas for me.
One of my favorite Nas albums too
My fav Nas album
One of my favorite nas projects
Very top by Nas .✌🏿✌🏿
Also I agree with Beezy. I like the beats Nas raps over.
They did write on the album. Stit and Jay both denied the claims. They did however lend ideas and production
This is a 4.5/5 album in my opinion.
Im always going to enjoy a nas album, definitely misses out on my top 3 tho. I got 1. It was written, 2. Illmatic, 3. I am
The album I found y'all channel on. Very underrated album imo and ahead of it's time for the content and the social political climate
Volume is really quiet for some reason, cant hear Beezy
The chris brown song isnt bad at all. It just doesn't quite fit with the theme of the album. Otherwise this is a classic album
I kinda feel Rod. I still like this album but some of the beats are a lil questionable.
This is in my top 5 Nas albums.
itunes has it wrong. Nas Untitled was released July 15th, 2008
It was a ok album.
As far as this Era of nas goes, I'll always defend hip hop is dead, but I only grabbed a few tracks from this album over the last decade or so
What's funny as hell is Rap Critic said the exact same thing about the beats on Hip Hop is Dead when they collabed and got pushback from everyone.
Sound like a 50 album(sonically)
We really still going with this bs about bad beats after the last 5 bangers he just dropped!?
I'm a fan of Nas but I don't like the album either. It's not wack but it really doesn't do anything for me and I agree that the production is lackluster.
July 15th 2008 0:40
50% bad, 30% solid, 20% amazing. Similar to blueprint 2, had a strong first half but second half is a mess
No magic 2 reaction yet?😢
I can't wait, hopefully they take there time and give it lots of spins because it's 1 of them albums that gets better and better.
Recording for it tonight. Dropping this coming Monday @2PM
I say this album is one of his best showings lyrically. Beat wise it didnt age well other than a few songs. Not a classic but not super wack either. But its that good lyrically to where i give it a strong 3.5 or maybe a light 4
To be fair, most beats from around this era haven't aged well. Album still slaps though for me
@@c.lvr2602 I really don't know what else came out around 2008 to agree with that. I just think over time the musical ear changes. When I heard Untitled at its initial drop, I thought it was great. Then I heard it again years later, and still thought it was lyrically great. But my musical ear changed drastically by then. I should hear it again since it's years after & see what I think now. But I know QGTM, Sly Fox, Fried Chicken, Project Roach & Slave and the Master are pretty much timeless. So it's the remaining tracks I have to see about
If the albums has a 15 year anniversary that means it aged well including the production
@uncensored6177 I don't mean just 2008, more 2000-2009 in general. Some albums aged really well but a lot of that bling era production hasn't. Although I never liked that style anyway, the vice grip that Pharrell and Timbaland had on Hip Hop at the time did nothing for me cuz I don't care for their production styles.
@thelastdon9000 Every album that came out in 2008 is on its 15 year anniversary this year...doesn't mean they've all aged well
Classic
Nas is top 3 forever
This was a cool Nas album
Ummmm wheres Magic 2 album review lol?
Hip hop is dead, distant relatives, streets disciple, life is good and untitled to me are all better albums than still matic, god son and I am
Would you teeestiiifyyyyy foooorr meeeeeee
This album is still amazing. The only song I really don’t like is the Chris Brown one. But this has some of Nas’s best songs ever on it. Also I think Nas’s discography is unfairly treated, way more good than bad.
Where’s magic 2 review?
Just recorded it last night
As a nas fan I think his album with the worst beats was streets disciple. I liked and still like the untitled album. It had a few beats I wasn't rocking with but that's every nas album. I always just assumed it's because I'm southern cuz there were even 2 beats on illmatic that i didn't much like.
Random...even though I like this album. And defended it for years.
