Back in '95-6 I used this track to take people from a chlll ambient early eve vibe to slammin acid house/trance/dub/etc. for like 6-8 hrs set (thank you Albert Hoffman) with 3 CD players, no vinyl (long story) and no way to beat mix anything. Just a mixer a few good amps and stacks of good speakers. Recently, I've been doing a lot of artwork and mostly listening to Underworld. I've been looking for this cut for months because I couldn't remember (or didn't know) the name. I had it on some (long lost) CD compilation.
The space was a 100+ y/o building's basement in a post-industrial midwest city with lime stone walls and a ceiling of solid old growth pine. F'n sound was perfect. Everyone under 6'2" had a great time (those taller had some issues).
Thanks for posting.
Cool story, bro.
@@fullup91 Heh, yea, thanks. It was hella-fun. I'd just moved back to an old rust-belt city from 10ish yrs in San Francisco. Had tons of stuff nobody had ever heard before. It was sweet being able to turn ppl. on and share all that I'd been given. I wish I was young and could stay up late. Hmpfh
I love that people are uploading these gems. The electronic scene was special in the 90’s. I’m sounding older. Oh boy.
@@captmaverickable Yep. That'll happen. Oh, and time speeds up as one gets older. You're welcome.
Love hearing these types of stories
The lost song of dubnobasswithmyheadman🎉
Late night vibes like no other song ever made...
I used to have this on vinyl, until my house burnt down :( Thanks to technology I can revisit what I've lost and relive my rave glory days.
This is quickly becoming one of my all-time favourite tracks from Underworld and I only discovered it here a few months ago. Such a gem! I love how the layers build on and on and then carry the track beautifully all the way.
similar story here, I basically went from 2010s house/edm to mid-late 00s indie/alt.(pop) through to early-mid 00s trance/techno into it's late 90s counterpart, via the grunge-rock/shoegazing eras, And finally landed here at the doors of early house music..

I’m hearing lion rock packet on peace... 🤔
Interestingly sane story, i love most of underworlds stuff, espacially dubnosbass; at the end I landed on this song, which officially is only availabe on their album 1992-2012 compilations This song has this relaxed early 90s vibe like no other of their songs. Sadly it was not included in dubnobass, but it should...
@@kirjuschaks This may be a false memory, but I belive this was a b-side to one of the dubnobass singles.
Underworld was something special in the early nineties 👌
IT STILL IS !!! ALWAYS AND FOR EVER!!! 😎
Addictive to say the least
Yeah, his name is Darren Emerson!
Saw them live just a few years ago. Still are. Still are.
gute alte Rechteckschwingung ... magisch !
One of Underworld's absolute best tracks, B-side or otherwise. Darren Emerson's influence is all over this.
Do you mean Darren Price?
@@HardcoreDXLithuania, no it's Emerson.
Why on earth do I not know this track? Epic.
Think there was only 80 copies pressed up
I am collecting 90s gear at the moment, i want to make my stamp into this sound. It's beautiful, elegant and spacious. Wow!
A lot of "90s gear" in early-mid 90s trance/techno was actually 70s/80s analog that people were stupidly dumping for pennies because it seemed like digital synths were going to be where it was at.
@@respobabs yeah fair. I luckily have access to a bunch of old 70s and 80s synths at MESS. But thanks for the insight. This old school trance stuff is amazing. It's kinda unfortunate where the genre ended up. (My opinion of course.)
@@furlong5439 good on you man...the times were ripe, people were beautiful at these nights...the world could use some tunes in this style...
@@furlong5439 I totally agree. I feel the later 90s and early 00s were not good for culture generally - music, film, etc. And about the gear, I have heard stories of people selling Jupiter-8s for $100 in the early 90s, to take an example. Who knew?
@@respobabs holy crap! what a steal. yea I tend to think the staying power of this music is quite often the gear. analog is timeless really and if you do something genuinely creative and unique that no one is ends up doing, you sort of carve a sound that sounds fresh and interesting for years to come. good luck furlong music!
this bass has super groove its fantastic.
im so good to know this music thanks from Tokyo

Lately, all the time. Not to sound like a shill for YT, but with 'Premium' , no commercials and I've just been finding an endless amount of 'new' stuff. For the last 2-3 months, it's been an endless (many frenz say relentless) soundtrack of Underworld when I'm in my little studio painting, etc. Except for the other night when I went into an Eric Dolphy/Charles Mingus trip. Everyone is flipping out (at least the little bits I hear of MSM) about YT and hate speech, etc. Sure, I get it, but I"m really not up for a(nother) battle on that front. I'm just hunkered down listening to mixes and making art and taking advantage of all the great material while it lasts. Like McCluskey tinyurl.com/r4mak3x

Nice
young psytrance head exploring the outreaches and roots of the trance genre, you are great help in this venture! thank you!
@Jack D'Ripa It wasn't Trance then though , it was Belgium new beat etc
Jack D'Ripa Why is someone always trying to make things into some kind of ego battle. Such and such a thing was way better than something else. Hurrah for the winners.
@Jack D'Ripa That Belgium tosh ( and the rest , yello , Oz severed heads ,ebm , that everybody except you was into , was what the dat djs mashed up to form the beginnings of (proto) trance , trance wasn't even a term then . Tosh indeed .That's how I and every body else remembers it ... .
@Jack D'Ripa Oh man, you really have bad criteria. I could never say a whole genre or mouvement was a tosh. Sad for you bro
@@stalkek it's sad to see these kinds of discussions everywhere you go when searching for cool music. Idk why people don't realize that just shutting the hell up and enjoying the sounds is what counts, everything else is ego flex

@@2trancentral biggest smile! I'm so glad you uploaded! Biggest hugs n snugs! 🙏❤️🙏
So was this only available on vinyl? If so, then this is certainly a lesser-known track for sure. It's great to hear the full version of this song. I remember I "picked up" this mix circa 1998 while in college from some personal file-share (the old-school type; NOT Napster). Unfortunately, that version faded out and ended after 5 minutes. Needless to say, I am happy to hear the full version here, but saddened that the single was never pressed to CD or another EP on CD. :-(
