    About S.W.A.T.: Inspired by the television series and the feature film, S.W.A.T. stars Shemar Moore as a locally born and raised S.W.A.T. sergeant newly tasked to run a specialized tactical unit that is the last stop in law enforcement in Los Angeles. Torn between loyalty to where he was raised and allegiance to his brothers in blue, former Marine Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson has everything it takes to be an excellent leader and to bridge the divide between his two worlds. Hondo’s elite unit includes David “Deacon” Kay, an experienced S.W.A.T. officer who always puts the team first, despite feeling overlooked for the lead job; Christina “Chris” Alonso, a skilled officer and the team’s canine trainer; Dominique Luca, an expert driver who gets them in and out of high-risk situations; Victor Tan, who started in the LAPD Hollywood Division and uses his confidential informants in the community to help the team; and Jim Street, a cocky and promising new team member who is fired when his troubled family life leads him to compromise his role within the unit. Responsible for the management of all Metro Division S.W.A.T. units is Commander Robert Hicks, a senior LAPD official with the Special Operations Bureau. Overseeing Hondo’s team is Hicks’ direct report, Jessica Cortez, the ambitious captain of L.A. Metro whose professional aspirations force her to end an off-the-books relationship with Hondo. Hondo’s team enjoys an intense rivalry with another L.A.-based unit led by Jeff Mumford, an aggressive leader who likes to do things his way. With Hondo leading the charge, these dedicated men and women bravely put themselves at risk to protect their community and save lives. Starring: Shemar Moore, Stephanie Sigman, Jay Harrington, Alex Russell, Lina Esco, Kenny Johnson, Peter Onorati

    In most departments, this is how SWAT spends most of their time. Only a few departments have SWAT that spends most of their time on SWAT duty. Most departments have SWAT officers on patrol whenever they're not actually on SWAT calls

      In real life, the LAPD SWAT team (D-Platoon) is a full-time SWAT unit.They don't do patrol except under very rare circumstances. All their time is spent on deployments and training exercises. LA is a big city. There's always something going on.
      The Metropolitan Division, however, has other platoons that are specifically tasked with crime suppression. They used to have 1 crime suppression platoon per geographic bureau of the LAPD (A, B, C and G platoons for Valley, West, Central and South Bureaus) but this was reduced to only 2 platoons due to personnel shortages.

    3:04 Honestly, this to me is one if my favorite parts of this episode. It kinda shows Powell taking another step in her training as 28 David. First Luce got her through SWAT Academy, then Street got her past her growing pains after she joined the team, and now that she’s rejected the offer to switch teams, Hondo’s teaching her more about the heart of an officer

    I like how Powell's opinions addressed how officers were treated following the George Floyd death. A lot of officers were probably very mistreated because of their uniforms when they did nothing but try to do their jobs right the best they knew how. And while, as a society we call for reforms, we often fail to think about how all this affects these people who work on the ground. It's easy to see how their "us vs them" mindset can come from.

    • @ianmintz12806
      @ianmintz12806 Před měsícem +1

      I agree. Officer Zoe Powell definitely understands what the job is like for Hondo, Deacon, Luca, Street, Commander Hicks, and Tan. Officer Christina Alonso, Officer Nora Fowler, Captain Jessica Cortez, Officer Miguel Alfaro, Officer Rodrigo Sanchez, Officer Jeff Mumford, Officer Donovan Rocker, and Officer Alexis Cabrera know what the job is all about as well.

    • @castleoffiction96
      @castleoffiction96 Před 13 dny

      This whole episode to me, especially Powell and Hondo’s storyline, is a callback to season 4 and the emphasis that season placed on how you have a community not served by cops on one hand, and cops trying to do their best despite other cops sullying their name on the other hand.

    • @poseidon808
      @poseidon808 Před 8 dny +1

      Honestly I think SWAT as a show handles those issues really well. We see it in the first few episodes too, a lot of media reporting woulda been like “SWAT Sergeant shoots and severely injures young black man” conveniently leaving out the accidentally bit and with no regard for A. How it affected him and B. What the rest of the team did immediately following that
