  • Differential Gear is very important part in any real, or RC vehicles. It enables vehicles to properly drive out corners in normal on-road driving.
However in off-road conditions, locking diff gears can result in better traction and grip, enabling the motor's power be distributed to each wheel evenly, and minimize wheel being stuck and stopped in obstacles.
I have designed diff-lock gear which can be easily installed to tamiya grasshopper (or hornet, or other vehicles such as lunchbox, which uses the same live axle gearbox). Result was very successful, much better traction and grip in off-roads.

We need some limited slip differentials for rc cars.

Hi there, was wondering if you have made or could adapt these to fit the classic Tamiya monster beetle / blackfoot diff. These would be absolutely superb for the big wheeled vehicles which are designed to be run off road, but have the very same problem you mention. In sand or Long grass they just get bogged down.
Would be very grateful if you could adapt these for the problematic diff in the monster beetle too.
    Regards john

Hi! thank you for the comment!. I do not have beetle or blackfoot yet, however I do have brat and frog, which have the same gearbox. I have been really focusing on the grasshopper for recent few years, and I am planning to start project for other verhicles. I will check out my brat to see what I can do!

@@HumbleVintageRCfirstly thanks for such a quick reply, that would be brilliant, and a solution i had been looking for for a while. would your brat / frog parts be on thingiverse too the same as the grasshopper ones or do you sell them??
I do know the early brat models had a different diff gear that was actually a fixed diff as it didn’t have the bevel gears just another cog similar to the spur gear.
However these are quite rare and very seldom appear.
A link if possible to your frog/brat diff lock on thingiverse would be amazing.
      Regards
      John

Mad-Bee RC & BB Hi! I don't sell them, you can download the design file and print it by yourself if you have a 3d printer😎 However if you don't I can send you the printed parts by postal service🙂 let me know!
