  • The shocks in my NC were getting old and worn, so I decided to upgrade them with a set of Meister-R ZetaCRD Coilovers. These shocks offer a great deal of adjustability and a modest price that makes them a great budget option with outstanding performance.

    Nice Video. This video gave me the confidence that I could tackle this on my own. I am not the most mechanically inclined but between this and the video from
    @FlywheelFilms I was able to follow step-by-step. I went with the less expensive Sportives for my 2016 NC and I I think I made a good choice for my needs. The difference is amazing. Thanks!

      Nice! I am quite happy with them, very nice improvement in both ride and handling. Well worth the price!

    Zele, very well done video. I like your camera work, your descriptions…and your humor!
    I used that same trick of removing the rear shocks by removing the shaft nuts and letting the rear shocks come apart when removed. But I left the old upper shock mounts bolted in until after the rear shocks were removed.
    One thing though…you tightened your front upper control arm bolts and the bottom shock mount bolts when the suspension wasn’t loaded. You will end up with twisted bushings.
    Also, if you move your front swaybar links to the inner holes, you are making the front bar STIFFER, not SOFTER. You are shortening the lever arms on the bar by using the inner holes. Shorter lever arm = less leverage

    I run the clubsports and love them. Surprisingly compliant at their softest. Yes the car is firmer, but less crashy and harsh with it. They feel surprisingly sophisticated for the money!

      I considered going that route, but I do occasionally take my car to the track so I wanted the extra flexibility.

    Great video! Helped me so much installing CRDs on my '07 last weekend. How many clicks from full stiff are you running front and rear?

    • @MiataChannel
      @MiataChannel  Před rokem +1

      Thank you, I am glad it was helpful! When I first installed them I had it set very soft, 24 front and 26 rear. The shocks do break in quite a bit in the first 500-1000 miles. Mine are well broken in now and I am running 18 front, 20 rear for daily driving. It is quite comfortable at those settings.

    As you move the end link inward on the sway bar, it stiffens the bar. If you are trying to use "more of the benefit of the coilover" (@ 7:00 mark), you want to be using the more outward sway bar connection. It appears as if you might have this backwards.

    • @MiataChannel
      @MiataChannel  Před 8 měsíci

      Yeah, I have changed it all around since the last video... softened the front, made the rear stiffer. Car feels a lot more balanced now.

    Could you tell any difference with the sound tube out? Looking forward to hearing how you like the new coil overs.👍

    • @MiataChannel
      @MiataChannel  Před rokem

      I don't really notice a difference, honestly. My car has a complete aftermarket exhaust, and even though its not loud, I get plenty of sound from it.

  • @Woobi3

    Thanks for the tip of removing the rear top nut to easily drop out the old struts, I took my rears out today and plan to tackle the fronts tomorrow. What spacing did you end up going with compared to how they came out of the box?

    • @MiataChannel
      @MiataChannel  Před 2 měsíci +1

      13.25" front, 13.5" rear. It was about 1-1.2" higher than the stock settings. I daily my Miata and seems to be about perfect. No issues with scraping.

      @Woobi3 Před 2 měsíci

      @@MiataChannel thank you, I threw them on out of the box, looked low obviously. Then I went to drive up my ramps to torque the end links and discovered I was too low to even do that. Gonna adjust them tomorrow to find the happy spot.

      @MiataChannel  Před 2 měsíci +1

      @Woobi3 If you want to see what it sits like at my height, check out the beginning of my test drive video on the ZetaCRDs. There is a good sideshot towards the beginning. They have been perfect since they were broken in.

    You MUST raise the hubs to their loaded height before tightening the upper wishbone bush bolts - otherwise you twist and pre-load the bushes.

    • @MiataChannel
      @MiataChannel  Před 8 měsíci

      Yeah, as I mentioned in the video, I had the people doing the alignment loosen them and re-tighten them when I took it in. I lack the equipment and space to be able to do that in my garage.

    Does these coil overs make your car smoother and help eliminate the harshness of rough roads? I have an 08’ and trying to make it a comfortable and smoother daily driver. TIA!

    • @MiataChannel
      @MiataChannel  Před 4 měsíci

      It takes a few hundred miles to break them in, but after that, they are wonderful. My car rides smoother than it did stock. These coilovers are perfect for daily driving. I also took a long road trip with them, and they were fabulous . Best mod I have done.

    • @MiataChannel
      @MiataChannel  Před 6 měsíci

      It's not something I can add here easily, but I have them routed so just the knob on the end sticks out from under the trim inside the trunk. Its held there by the top edge of the trim
