So, you’re watching Peacemaker and you want more information about his father, The White Dragon. Well, I have the answers…mostly. Interesting character with a cool look and ugly history. I can't wait to see what James Gunn does with this character. Really loving Peacemaker so far.
I wrote off Cena before I even watched the movie, then I shut up and watched it. Cena killed that, I eagerly await each episode like a kid on a Saturday, back when we did that sort of thing lol. Peacemaker is just silly fun and I don't think they could have cast better for him or Vigilante. The whole cast so far is great, I didn't expect to like it as much as I do.
The world now is not ready for a deeply written racist character, but we'll see in 15 years, gunn just gonna write him off as comicaly evil and i guess that is for the best

Ironic considering how Iron Man and most of the Avengers were pretty B-C tier characters in the overall public view before the MCU started. But yeah, the characters Gunn uses are properly D tier unknowns to even comic fans.

I feel Peacemaker’s father being White dragon might be a nod to Peacemakers father being a nazi officer in one of the origins.
It was. Also, the Nazi father was dead early on in his life, but peacemaker saw/heard him in his head all the time. Basically b1tching about everything he did.

Like Polka-dot man, I think this may be an attempt at fleshing out an old character that people don't remember very well or care about.
It seems like people see potential in the villain and want to give him a proper story, but with everything being about Nazis and race wars it's very hard to make a compelling narrative from it and every time they just kill him off and move on.
It would explain plot holes. Different authors have different ideas, and if the stories don't sell, they get canned.
Gunn is REALLY good at making obscure characters popular… he made GOTG super popular and nobody really cared for the iteration that much…. Same with Peacemaker Ratcatcher and Polkadot Man he’s really good at it…

@@lilricebowl9731 I think its more on james gun's part as he doesn't really like using well known established ip characters. but he really keen on working with unknown or less popular characters. so he would probably reject the idea of him being in charge for the whole dceu.
I feel like they had an oppertunity to make him a better villlian if instead of going down the nazi hole they had instead focused on just him hating black people because of the death of his pairents. Maybe make hime appear as a an almost decient human with one glaring flaw that he mostly tries to hide causing the readers to almost forget that he's a raciest just long enough before he starts with the murder.
You'd think, with all the white supremacy everywhere, that the vast majority of people would find a racist villain very relatable. And you'd be right. It's not compelling narrative that is lacking; it's balls.

I can already tell peacemaker's white dragon is a better and easier to understand character without seeing the show.
It is since is a completely different guy from the other 2 in the comics. My only doubt is how does he get such high end technology. My only thought is that he has plenty resources from his clan but lives a "quiet life" to not arouse suspicion.
It would be insane if the peacemaker white dragon actually has a dragon. I mean he has a pocket dimension armory so i think its not too farfetch he has one stored somewhere.

Funny story. When the armor in the show was first revealed, a site that makes models for 3d printing announced that they were working on making the armor. It didn't take long for the comments to tell them how bad of an idea that was, and after about an hour they said it was cancelled

This is actually, great! The ambiguity allows for Gunn to have full freedom in fleshing out the character and provide robust development and more continuity in back story as related to Peacemaker. He's doing what he did with GOTG, taking obscure characters and making them great!!

Like William Heller, I don’t think his father has powers in the show.
I think all the different incarnations of the character comes down to artistic freedom. Different artists and writers has just chosen to put their own spin on the character without much consideration of what has come before. It happens in comics all the time.
Obviously that is the case, but as I’m trying to provide the comic book history of the character and it makes no sense within the universe, I’d be remiss to not mention it.
That's the issue with comics nowadays it really leads to nothing & everything gets retconned.

I might have an explanation about the second White Dragon who joined the Fourth Reich. It's Ducannon. There was a bit where it seems like he may have sold his soul to Neron in exchange for what he most desires. Dunno know though. It is confusing.
Back then when comics made up stories where it can be interesting yet with multiple twists. I miss comics like these with creative storytelling. Cool to know James Gunn to give us this when he grew up with great storytelling.

Falcon's bird was not always meant to be a drone. That's a recent change. Actual dragons also exist in the dc universe.
Such a cool costume, a shame its connected to such intense emotions. The character versions are interesting, it's wild to think someone went this kind of dark when thinking of motivations. It's a real life/ real world problem, so connecting those kind of stories to a character has got to be difficult.
It was the 80's. That was the prevailing trend at the time. "The darker, the better" is what comics culture was thinking during the period. That's why it's considered the start of the "dark age of comics".
It makes his character very 1 dimensional that they made it about real issues especially when it's more nuanced than people put in media

Heller had more appearances in the early 90s in the Suicide Squad. He was part shadowy cabal of right wing rich guys who wanted to provoke a war with Russia or at least restart the cold war. This group was the villains of the last few years of the book but Heller only appeared in the Phoenix Gambit story where he employed Deadshot but kept trying to get him killed

It's an overall flaw that's superheroes have that they refuse to kill despite their enemies wreaking so much harm and havoc that they would get the death penalty regardless of what jury oversaw them. It can be stated that in not acting to stop bad guys once and for all either by death or just chucking them into the phantom zone that they are directly responsible for all the lives.
