- Tom Howard is made redundant from his job as a senior aircraft designer and decides to invest his skill, time and redundancy money in a run-down local boat building yard. Without his investment the yard would certainly have gone bust but the decision puts a great strain on his marriage and causes problems with other members of his family. The various family members gradually come to terms with their changing circumstances and the consequences of Howard's decision.

I love it, the husband loses his job and the wife and kids are worried about their plans being impacted. I left the UK in 1983, so I’m not familiar with this show, although it’s very 80 ish.
If he's 44 he must have had one he'll of a paper round. Nevertheless this brings back happy memories of watching TV with the family on a Sunday evening. Miss the 80s.

take me bac to the 80s,just being repeated on drama tv in the uk,,,thought it started longer than 1985😁,i was working in the nhs then,now disabled n cant get out😡....
My parents loved those I found it really dull lol

@@1978rharris Because he is a boat builder etc (and he doesn't wear shoulder pads etc). I use to watch this when it was on TV.
