"I think", the virus's code might have compiled in such a way that it can be attached to a video file(like avi, MP4, etc). And was uploaded along with the cat video(attached to it), but while CZcams was trying to play that part, it found that it couldn't be played and just continued to play the cat part of the whole video. But the whole video file(Along with virus and the cat video) got downloaded(As you know all videos get downloaded as cache while watching video but gets deleted afterwards). After it got download, it separated itself and started doing its job.
I think so, I may be wrong, I don't have any educational qualifications in Computer. This is what my common sense tells me😅.

yeah, so, no. Its not a test virus for wannacry, it does not use the same exploit as wannacry, and its not from the same origin as wannacry (wannacry was chinese, not korean, they are not the same thing. not to mention wannacry was so advanced we believe it was a state actor, who would have tested it internally). the real answer to this is quite simple: Its a creepypasta. Most of what he is saying happened is outright impossible, even on an XP era machine. it's a good scary story for sure, especially during the height of wannacry hysteria, but its just legitimately impossible. I don't fault you for not knowing that, the story is put together in a way that it would be hard to know its impossible if you didn't have a pretty extensive background in computers, and your incorrect info about malware tells me you don't have the kind of background to pick that story apart (side note, malware is an overarching term for all malicious code, it is an umbrella term, ransomware and adware are both types of malware. also, the words "virus" "trojan" and "worm" are not interchangeable, those are three different things, all of which are just descriptions of HOW malware enters a machine. you are correct saying this describes a trojan, wannacry was a virus, not a trojan, and the word worm describes nothing you actually brought up so I don't know why you would use it.) basically, since about 2004ish SATA has been the standard for hard drives, and since the data connection for SATA cannot control the motors, its impossible to physically damage a hard drive with a virus. maybe with a rootkit, but even then I can't think of how you would implement that, and not something you could get without someone physically installing something. not to mention if the hard drive, CPU, GPU, or RAM were physically damaged, the computer couldn't boot up to show him that file. that's not how that works. and really, its pretty damn hard to physically damage components with a virus. modern computers, impossible, back then MAYBE, but it would have been hard. not something that could be put on the computer in a grand total of 38 seconds over an XP era internet connection.

@@Nakia11798 tl;dr: this piece of malware would be considered a trojan and has nothing to do with WannaCry (which was Chinese whereas this virus was Korean), which is a virus. the damage to the hard drive is physically impossible due to the way computers and hardware have been built since about 2004 (the data connection no longer controls the motor of the drive). if any of the critical components of the computer had actually been damaged, the computer would not have been able to boot up and show him that file. additionally, any malware capable of doing that much damage would be too large to download in 38 seconds in the XP era.
danooct1 has some videos about (vintage) malware that could damage computers, i'd recommend looking at the CIH/Chernobyl one since he demonstrated it on a physical computer. there's also the one on CyberRiot if you want to HEAR what a virus physically destroying a floppy disk sounds like.

both of you are horridly incorrect on this. A harddrive is a spinning disc with a pin set up to read the disk for data. "A literal hole in my hard drive" would easily refer to that very pin being forced to sit at one spot for hours upon hours, as the author stated, can easily wear down, and even physically damage, a hard drive. Keep in mind Hardware is mindless without software, and any safeguards or programmed fail safes can easily fail should software be able to bypass it.

    • @GamerShyUncut
      @GamerShyUncut Před 2 lety +31

"Viruses straight up can't spread like this"
Incorrect. When you load a video from CZcams, the data of that video file is streamed to your pc, no different than directly downloading a video, just more streamlined and lighter so it can load fast. While youtube absolutely has protections in place to clean up or even reject files with "garbage" data like this (Garbage data referring to data that shouldn't be in the file in the first place, like executable code), such protections are only as smart as the person who made them. There's always holes in every form of security, there'll always be some form of potential exploit that can be taken advantage of to spread a virus.
While unlikely, someone who just wants to spread something like this absolutely can, given enough time and research into how such protections work. That's how all exploits are found.

I like how the subject of the video is not creepy or scary in any regard, but you lay some triller creepy music under it and talk with that misty tone in your voice.
It's like looking at trees outside your window at night. Trees are not horrifying by themselves, but because of darkness, instead of the natural color of branches and leaves you are looking into the void that moves by the motion of wind contrasting with the pale grey sky behind it.
And then suddenly the void stops moving as if the trees somehow know that you are thinking about them right now, but then they start moving again to try and erase any suspicion you might have.
It ain't creepy. It ain't creepy at all. Exactly like the trees.

Let me say it without any creepy music ot texts
I found a video of a cute cat failing a jump
Took a long while to load but opened
Just before i closed it it did a very long update. I even had to close it and i heard annoying stuff from the computer. I had to take out the battery, was a little unerved. The next day there was some gorey images and my whole laptop was corrupted with bizzare things. All my personal info was the only file i could click
Not even that scary if u think about it
Bad virus takes all ur info and makes ur laptop broken and makes it feel creepy

This is a creepy pasta made by someone with base knowledge of the wannacry virus.
Someone with the technical knowledge to make a youtube video execute code on your machine would not be dumb enough to not know that maybe you shouldn't put your target as your name if you want to actually infect that target in case someone with knowledge in reverse engineering sees this or if someone uploads this to a place like virustotal.
And the whole "it did physical damage" thing doesn't make sense in the slightest, sure it could have degraded the hardware if this was on the computer for months and months but even that's not really "how it works" so to speak. And if it had a "literal hole in the harddrive" then the PC wouldn't even boot to begin with, harddrives are quite sensitive. There is also no need for this, most people can't even install Windows on their own so trashing the hardware is completely pointless and is just way more work and also isn't something that the people behind wannacry would do.
And the JPenhanced file being related is pretty weird, why would that component turn from a text file with collected info into a .bat file? It's a script and not some file that is containing information.
Also why would anyone who want to extract useful data leave that data in such a specific place that the victim would know what passwords to change and such? And also the WannaCry virus was never designed to steal data, just to hold it random which is why it's called randomsware.
6/10 would have been more believable if the person who wrote it had more technical knowledge.

There are multiple inconsistencies, like windows XP circle animation, which is only on vista and up and wannacry not having Jpenchant visible in the decomp. Also, hardware damage is not possible via software alone. Good creepy-pasta, but very easy disproven.

The whole story is obviously either complete bullshit or exagerrated. For one, it's impossible for a computer virus to burn a hole through a hard drive. Computer viruses are software, nothing more. They can't do anything to hardware that involves physical destruction. A virus could damage the instruction sets of computer chips and damage them that way, or disable cooling fans and cause overheating, but it can't bore or burn a hole through hardware. Second, it's highly improbable that a virus could be obtained through a legitimate youtube link. When videos are uploaded to youtube they are processed and encrypted by youtube's own software. If some version of this story IS true, then the person probably got a virus through a spoofed youtube link. That is, a link with a url that probably looks legitimate at first glance but leads to a fake version of a site. It's called website spoofing. Third, this whole thing just sounds like a creepypasta.

The intro’s cool though! Like some Windows Movie or something.

Definitely a creepy pasta, mostly because viruses are not able to be able to be spread the way the video suggests it did (in this case, watching a cat video on CZcams.)
It seems a fan has created the channel. The CZcams channel in question is up and live, and "Kute Cat makes a jump" is the only video on that channel. The video is 19 seconds long, loads instantly and was created 1 month after this video released.
    All in all, 6/10 creepypasta.
