He thinks that no one would care that he is gone and their lives would be better because of it. However, this is completely untrue. After learning of his departure, Manuel pleas wth Dante to get him to convince his son to come back. Because Simone was one of the first to ever make him feel like he belonged. He misses him. It's not very clear in the series. Sadly Italy is still very VERY behind with times. They have a kiss buy their relationship is never really made clear even at the end of of the season and there's no real intimate moments (like the in the original Spanish show).
