    Good info thanks. For your pull tool maybe try something like this. In order...Bolt head, 1/2 washer, 1" washer. Get a generic lawnmower pull handle. Drill a hole in it and put the bolt through hole. You may need to cut off the bottom tube part of the mower handle. Take a piece of brake line or other rubber hose and slide over the bolt. Say 1/2" long. That is just to keep all the parts together when you sit it down. You may need a thinner hose then put a larger diameter hose over the first hose.

    I have an EYK . Reverse feels like it engages but freewheels when power is applied. Everything else is fine. Local mechanic says a cracked drum causes that.

    Great video, I have a 2003 Passat AWD with a dead 30 valve V6 engine and I would like to know if its possible to pull off the rear diff off the AWD transmission and swap it on an 2005 Passat TDI FWD transmission in order to make the diesel AWD. Is this possible with these transmissions or will the gears not work?

    Hi Joshua, I have passat with 5hp 19 transmission, the car was flooded, and the TCU was dead, the car worked in limp mode, he used it like that for a while forward 3d gear an reverse working fine, after I bought it from him I found the dead TCU, there was a lot of corrosion on the plug also, I cleaned it and after that the car works normally forward, changes gears smoothly but the reverse only works when the engine is idling, as soon as I touch the acceleration it seems to disengage and acts as neutral, if I release the acceleration it goes in reverse, other simtoms, when cold in reverse there is only a bump even at idle and car stops, move from N to R and moves a little and disangages, when hot reverse works at idle, it even goes uphill, other than that, if I remove the TCU reverse seems to work fine, I can accelerate even when cold. Hope you read this, what do you think?

    Can you confirm every part can swap out with the GMR diesel transmission except the gears? You mentioned "the groove for the snap ring is a lot higher in the diesel" is that part one of the gears? I assume that is because the clutch pack is thicker, but is there a higher snap ring groove included on all ZF5hp19FL?

    Got a 5HP19 TDI trans, TCC lockup failure, with code. Two new converters (OEM), now TCC lockup solenoid, new Transgo pump valve. Still no fix, actually worse now. I suspect leak somewhere. Have you run across a TCC lockup issue on these that wasn't fixed with a new converter? Thanks!

    Have you thought about drilling a hole in some round stock to make a pull handle for the seals, it’d give you something to pull on and should stay put while you run the bolt in

    P0731, gear 1 incorrect ratio. Fluid and filter are due to and will be done. Or can you say from expierence that a clutch pack is bad? Car drives and pulls and does not slip in 1st, only goes into safe mode when skidding on unpaved road while give it full beans. When safe mode, Reverse works normally.

    I have a 2007 cayman that has this transmission and its making a loud grinding noise when decelerating. When accelerating it works perfect and it shifts well. Have you ever come across something like this. For sure the grinding sound is coming from the transaxle.

    • @tigertransmissions
      @tigertransmissions  Před 2 lety +1

      Yes usually comes from the Differential on the transmission. You need to check the oil in it it’s separate from the transmission oil.
      Bearings could be shot in the diff

    Hello Joshua. I have same transmission as in video. 2003 Passat 1.8T
    I changed fluid and filter, even used Ravenol fluid and German filter from BlauParts.
    About a month later, heard a woosh sound, like tranny was sucking air. Would low fluid cause that, or did I put too much fluid in?
    It shifted fine, but then 3 months later, the 1-2 shift will screech loudly every time until car is warmed up.
    Am I destroying it by driving everyday?

    Can you put this valve body on a TDI one? Do they match? Just the valve body? Are the solenoids the same? WHat parts are same from 1.8 to 1.9tdi?

  • @michaelreames2983
    @michaelreames2983 Před 3 lety

    I know this is an old video. Not sure if you check comments still. But you say all the parts are the same except the ears on the rear. SO If I have a bad Diesel trans I could put a 1.8T trans in it and just switch the rear gears? Sounds to good to be true but that but sounds like that was what you where saying.

    • @GreatLakesLogger
      @GreatLakesLogger Před 3 lety

      Should work fine. Change the rear gear set and slap it in. Probably shouldn't if you were pushing a fair bit of power through it, but stock it will work just fine

    • @tigertransmissions
      @tigertransmissions  Před 3 lety

      No you can’t change the rear gear set. They won’t fit, the cases are drilled differently in the back where the bearings ride, because the gears are different sizes. I’ve tried this before.

    Where do you get parts? I am looking for a rebuild kit. I have a 2005 Passat tdi and it doesn’t move at all in any gear. I think it might be empty of fluid. I am most likely going to get a junkyard trans and rebuild it then to swap it.
