They're very close friends, Boone and Hal too, they go to each other's family gatherings and have been friends for 30+ years. Don't expect much change, especially with Cashman who is actually more than GM for the Yanks, he's not going any where.

THe June swoon is over and now we are in the July firesale.The Yankees haven't won since 2009, how many more years is Hal going to stick with these guys.We need new leadership and a new direction.Soto is great because he is heading into free agency all players do great and then many fall off.Time for new leadership

I think Judge’s hitting coach is right. The coaching staff is clueless for pitching and hitting DURING THE SEASON; Volpe looks lost, players have lost the skills needed for small ball, hitters are not going to the opposite field, pitchers are not mixing their pitches (except for Cortes and Cole). It is not Boone’s fault. It is Cashman’s fault. George would have fired him ten years ago. Major housecleaning trades are needed, as well as bringing up more youth. Schmidt is a good #3, but two more frontline pitchers are needed for the rotation. The Bullpen is OK, but not spectacular. Cousins if fine, but Holmes should only be a set up guy. Weaver is good, but the rest of the bullpen is just average. All can be traded, released, demoted, or be on the bus. A new pitching coach is DEFINITELY needed. Judge, Soto, Rice, and Volpe, Torres and Stanton are fine; as is Wells behind the plate. All the rest should be traded, released, or DF. A new batting coach DURING THE SEASON is needed. The current hitting and pitching coaches might be good for Spring Training, but the in-season problems are a whole new ballgame. If a player can take instruction DURING the season; keep him. If not, get rid of him. Same for pitchers and hitters. When Dominguez recovers, he should be brought up with Spencer and the other catcher to back up Wells. It is fairly obvious that Trevino and LeMahieu are done, as well as Rizzo. Great players in their prime, but they are well past it. You need more utes, as Pesci would say. Get Miller for closer. Get two or three more bullpen studs. Get that gossage rivera thing going again. Trade for a slugger to help the lineup. Guerrero is volunteering to help you; sign him. Its only money. One ring in 23 years is not very good. As Mae West would say: its not the men in your life; its the life in your men that counts. Making the playoffs is not enough. The yanks could play 500 ball the rest of the way and still make it. Let’s hope they pick it up and prove me wrong.
