  • Aside from having a ton of games in the past week, there was also a ton of news especially regarding new recruits. In our THIRD episode this week (that's right, we recorded 3 episodes hahaha), we covered the surprising commitment of Alex Konov to DLSU, the addition of Liam Ramiro to address DLSU's point guard problem, NCAA MVP Amiel Acido going to UST, as well as Sean Chambers and Tab Baldwin continuing to rebuild their rosters.

Good takes, as usual. Keep it up guys, and thanks for providing UAAP content to get us through this unbearably looooong off season hahaha!
I'm looking forward to your future episodes where you project the possible final lineups of the teams, especially those with a surplus of players all vying to get in the final 16. Ateneo seems to be really interesting owing to their abundance of wings/guards and their paper thin rotation of bigs. I don't think guys like Gamber, Asoro, or even Celis are shoo-ins, and it wouldn't surprise me to see potential transferees among them. Let me take a stab at it.
BIGS: Balogun (or whoever Ateneo's FSA will be), Amos, Lazaro, Porter, Ong
WINGS: Koon, Bongo, Tuano, Edu, Espina, Celis
    GUARDS: Bahay, Espinosa, Nieto, Quitevis
Yes, I'm leaving one slot open for another big (still hoping and praying Tab surprises us). If this miracle doesn't happen, Asoro may be the 16th guy.
    And Kyle Gamber transfers. 😆

Both DLSU point guard recruits, Ramiro and Buenaventura, still need improvement. Ramiro in the last four games: total of 6 assists and 12 turnovers. Buenaventura had 2 assists and 4 turnovers in their game today vs. NU.
Acido was immediately inserted in the UST rotation and is decent with a total of 10 points in two games shooting at a 50% clip. His defense, though, is lacking.

July will be the target month for Konov to be with the team, so probably baka WUBS sya sasabak. Well, Justin Buenaventura, One of the recruits from the US made his debut today vs NU which ended up in a blowout loss, but he's decent but not there yet, but again as long as the Rookies get used to the system and their new teammates, they should feel fine. Ramiro and Rubico IMO will exchange mins at PG, Konov could be a good super sub in the big alongside Raven Cortez, but for Justin Buenaventura, Hate to say this but with the guard rotation DLSU have, he could sit out for S86 but hopefully he stays patient.

@@bolerosph ok walang improvement ONLY applies to certain players. My baseline is how they were the year before or years before. Yes, I acknowledge that Ian improved a bit now that he's more decisive and has fewer turnovers and a little bit more consistent beyond the arc and fishing for fouls compared to last year. I beg to differ with Lazaro. He'll be on his last year, right? What significant improvement has he shown? That inconsistent midrange? By this time, he should be taking attempting 3s already. Perhaps have developed a strong drive to the basket, improved ball handling. He still turns the ball over alot. Still getting. Yes, Quiteves worked on his shooting form with True Focus but did it improve? No. It actually got worse. Which is expected. But you'd hope he would have improved other things. However, Quiteves is not really someone that we're expecting to improve alot since he never really got it into competitive hoops til recently. Yes, Bongo has had a few decent games and has been more aggressive. Same goes for Tuano. Those that haven't shown improvement: Amos, from having a consistent 3ball to barely making it. By now you'd think he'd be more conditioned and little bit tougher but he still gets pushed around and fouls a lot. Celis, seemed like he forgot to play basketball. From having a decent 3, to non-existent and barely hitting the rim. Ong, granted he didnt play last year and never really got any real playing time but if you've been with the team for years, you would have improved on something by now. Koon, still the same from last year.
