Yes, this documentary series is fantastic. It captures a time perfectly, and the rest of the series is of equal quality. Such elegant film making, not once does the maker ask a question, instead letting the subject reveal all at their own will, and sometimes to their peril. Especially in the sales rep episode! Why isn't this on DVD?!
Great documentary series, I remember it from the first time around and still have my copy of the accompanying book plus all five episodes. They really should release them on dvd. I think it would also be cool if they did a follow-up documentary to see what became of those who took part in the series some 17 years down the line ....
This was shown last year on BBC4 as part of rheir motoring season. I remeber watching this series when it was made and it was interesting to see it again 16 years later, my how the fashions have changed. Good work taffy, keep digging through your archive.
I see you have got the name now. When shown last year there was a couple of blank strips on the side of the screen. The whole series was repeated over a couple of weeks and each had a different theme. The clip you have is from the programme based on lone drivers. Other episodes had families, teenagers, married couples and courting couples as the theme.
