She is literally the BEST vocalist currently alive and it’s so upsetting that she’s widely unknown
She prefers it that way as she focuses on singing for God. That’s something you rarely see.
Actually she chooses to do so. She’s been offered record deals but she chooses to follow her own path and sing to the masses with the intention of carrying out her promise to God and share her gift and lift people up with it. Her body of work says it all and thankfully we got social media ti spread it.
Michael Bolton said that this stage was admirable and that it was at the level of a virtuoso for Sohyang.
I'm a Filipino,but So Hyang really holds a special place in my heart like no other singers have done.
So Hyang said this was one of her hardest performances Because She Adores Michael Bolton...
and to Get to sing his Song while being in Front of and to Him.....And she nailed it .....
and on a closing interview Michael Bolton was so impressed asked her to use it ....in some of his performances

lifetime with those many illnesses..
uterine cancer, hepatitis, chronic pneumonia, etc.. The night she sung You Raise Me Up
She just got out of Hospital and was advised Not to sing...So she did that....lol
It's really a miracle this one of the most skilled vocalist of all time could be
in such poor condition. And definitely she is much more than great technician
and has Perfect Control of Her Gift...and Her singing is so special.
So Being a Cancer survivor And still gets sick from Time to time. But is an Amazing Artist
who gave up a Kpop career to sing for the Lord and for the Love of Music instead of stardom.
She learned English as a Child from Disney Movies, which inspired her to Write two of her
Books...(both Published and there are more).
Also And Publicly thanks Mariah Carey for teaching her everything she Knows about Music ...
that is some Testament to The Power of Music

hk46 regine do not need to pratice bitch. she has already proven her worth as a great singer when winning and became the grand champion of the 2 of international prestigious international singing contest such as Shanghai Music Festival and Asia Pacific International Singing Contest whilst your So Hyang she should be the one to develop and enhance her singing skills...imagine she got "lost" and murdered in Star King and became "3rd runner up" ONLY in Immortal..gosh those singing contests are only cheap, small and not even a prestigious one but she still she couldnt even triumph it? What more if So Hyang joins these prestigious international singing contest where Regine joined and won and she will fight with the best of the best for sure So Hyang will be a laughing stock and will be murdered and slayed there. Ok So Hyang is not a girl! She’s a 41 year old woman, and a survivor of cancer. She’s also a long time singer, but in hiding. I think she’s now coming out of her shadows, but she was invited to sing the American National anthem in America once and has also sang with some american gospel artists. So she’s been here lol

In this tv show, they rearrange the song on purpose coz they already heard the original ones. She has an Amazing voice. A lot of voice teacher loves her voice.

Thank you for your precious reaction. Singer Sohyang is a precious treasure of South Korea and a gift from heaven. She had a hard time a long time ago. So she knows that she should be grateful for a given life rather than wealth and honor. She sings with all her heart even if she sings a single song in hopes that the souls of those who are left out or tired will listen to this song and comfort her. This was a competition where all contestants had to sing Michael Bolton songs. Sohyang won. MB praised her as a virtuoso & wanted to take her on tour with him. She declined but did a handful of shows.

OMG, the power of music amplified with the power of Sohyang. And I like her dress and her stage gesture. Her dress showing one gorgeous (!) leg exactly describes the meaning of ‘lean on’, I mean one stroke of Chinese character for human ㅅ, one human needs to lean on to the other to be whole.

For me so hyang is one of best singer.... Im a filipino...
I am a Filipino but I think most pinoys are butthurt with sohyang's vocal ability because they feel threatened that she might be better than their idol, Regine.. I love Regine, but I don't think it's fair for sohyang to be called 'nasal', her sound isn't nasal, more of like 'twang'. Her technique is impeccable. I don't think her and Regine can be compared, they have different styles of singing.

Because , soyang has a experience of leaning on someone. She got a cancer and now overcome . And probably she learned to lean on and help to other and important about family and friends and thanks of singing so her singing has a meaningful and move and touch people’s mind.

Her technique is impeccable. One of the best ones in awhile, stamina's there and resonance is there with such healthy placement. but since she mixes when she goes high she tends to do a glissando everytime she's on top of her register and i agree her tone is not for everyone, but gotta admit she is talented af!

I think the soul vibe you were getting is from her gospel background - she is a gospel singer. And I would agree with you regarding the arrangement, coz there were parts that threw me off a bit. BUT I love her take on keeping the song on such a positive tone because it's a song of encouragement, an invitation for friendship and positivity. I also prefer deeper, thicker and lower tones coz it's soothing to me. But, every time, I wish I could have her techniques so I can sing just as well as her. Love your reactions and comments though; keep 'em coming. :)

I don't know much about sohyang aside from her high vocal prowess and her runs. her belting is on point but the way she hit/attack those high notes, makes me think that she's screaming/yelling. she needs to improve her diction. but when commenting base on her performance she's great and she's still young to improve her skills.
on regine's side, it's proven that she's the Asia's songbird. from her lows she can expand it to the highest that are extremely incomparable. her vocal prowess is superB. different techniques compare to sohyang technique. she can sing any kind of genre songs. she can do theater,! she's an artist. Regine sets a standard in the Philippines when it comes to singing. she's an icon.

Virtuoso? Are u delusioning again..a virtuoso singer should know how to balance her high, mid and low register but So Hyangs mid especially her low registers are good as trash. Michael was just invited by korean show to judge..he did not go to korea to personally collaborate and meet So Hyang. Of course, he will say something nice about so hyang when being interviewed and that is expected as a visitor ..u cannot expect a visitor badmouthing other artist on national t.v...do not be deceived on his statement dear. If he was just doing it for show. Then why on Earth would he give HER a standing clap? Why on Earth would he invite her to do a show with him? Why on Earth would they still to this day keep in contact? He praised her as the best in Asia, naming her all that Icono said. Michael had far more of an influence in the music industry than your nobody 'Brain McKnight'
Also, Kirk Franklin, one of the most recognised male Gospel voices out there came to Korea to sing alongside So Hyang and tested her abilities, to which she smashed it. A clean, smooth and agile C6, while Regine struggles to hit C5 without sounding like a dying whale. Good day.

Great reaction! It's true, a singer's voice quality/timbre should be subjective to one's preference. But the vocal technique should be objective, and she is really nigh a master of vocal technique. :-)
