@@ryanstolz8049 Sasha is not an uncommon nickname for Alexander in Russian. A nickname he shares with his father (Alexander Sr.). His father was known as Sasha Barkov when he played in the Finnish Elite League many years ago. His kid (Alexander Barkov) grew up playing in the same hometown junior and Finnish Elite League team (Tappara) as his father before him. He was also called Sasha affectionately back then.
Basically it's been his nickname since forever. It's also the name his fans would chant during his game: "Sasha! Sasha Barkov! Nananaanaa etc" (The same chant his father before him enjoyed).
