    Currently, Sweden's Gripen jet is possibly the best alternative to the United States’ costly F-16 jet. It's about $10 million cheaper, more cost-efficient to operate and just as effective. Watch our video to learn more interesting facts about it and to know if it's going to beat the F16.

    Important facts missing in the video: Gripen E have supercruise, the lowest RCS of all non stealth combat airplanes, very high agility, longest range of all western fighters, extremely reliable engine, STOL, carrier capability, fastest operational tempo, complete sensor fusion, ai, most developed datalink developed and used for 44 years, 360 spherical degree GaN AESA advanced EW, 200 degree fire control AESA, unique fast upgrade avionics, HMD, IRST. Everyting is internal, except recce pod.
    Gripen C have been flying with GaN AESA a long time and have that as an option. Upgrading of the engine to 20% more thrust is an option.
    The very low drag give more useful thrust to the pilot. (Useful thrust)=(nominal thrust) - (drag).
    Gripen are capable of doing more than 10 sorties a day. F-35 A only three. Who will deliver more weapons to the targets? Or be protecting the airspace enough?
    Gripen is a international fighter airplane with production and developments of parts all over the world. But on commercial ground, not political.

    • @atlet1
      @atlet1 Před 2 lety

      @Drew Peacock that's right! All Gripen is carrier capable and a carrier optimized version with enhanced landing gear and hook is engeneered, but not built.

    •  Před 2 lety

      Recce pod is what? Recognition?
      There's EW pods for the other JAS-39 at-least I assume they may be useful with the JAS-39E too but what do I know.
      As for range I assume you include with fuel tanks but I don't know how the situation is with others there.
      With fuel tanks and weapons it of course have higher RCS and lower power / kg and hence lose speed.
      One can use F-35 with F-15EX and or the Valkyrie drones and delivery the weapons with the two later and get closer to and possibly take out radar and air-defense with the F-35. Also vs other planes F-35s could take more risk and find them and others take them out.

    • @atlet1
      @atlet1 Před 2 lety

      @ Recce=recoinassans. Gripen E have everything built in, except recce pod. The speed and range nr. for Gripen E is with normal load. The very powerful EW in Gripen E make it capable of missions inside area denial bubbles with minimal risks and it is made from the beginning to operate with drones, other Gripen or other airplanes. So the only significant tactical differences is that F-35 is slower, less agile, less avalability, less upgradability and higher logistic footprint. Not to mention much higher cost, which result in fewer airplanes and worse trained pilots.

    With only two bases to operate out of the F35 is a long way from Alert and the Arctic borders. Canada is vast and To patrol our northern borders you must first fly 1000s of KM from your base to do an intercept. The cost to tanker and fly patrols compared to aircraft based in the north already is huge. Gripen is STOL f35 and F18 are not. Canada could have aircraft within minutes of an intercept not hours. There are no bases north of 60 in the arctic the Gripen can't use while there are NONE the F35 can use...Inuvik Alert, Resolute, etc all have c130's operating there already and the Gripen needs less than they do. Also if a war between NATO and russia or china for example happened nuclear capabilities from submarines and hypersonic missiles are probably more important than jets anyway. Since both jets will serve the same purpose against poorer countries unable to buy gen 4 jets many customers will likely just look for the cheapest option that will get the job done.

Then operating cost is a sum of variables such as fuel cost, wages of pilots and maintenance crew, repairs, cost of ordinance expended and several others all divided by total time spend in the air. Then total cost or CPFH is absolutely everything added together divided by flight time, this includes research and development as well as the actual building cost required to meet the delivery specifications.

    -Cheaper to operate and arguably just as effective
    -Lightweight single engine fighter jet made by India's HAL.
    -Originally introduced in 2015, after 14 years of flight tests with no incidents.
    - The latest Tejas mk1A comes with all modern features including 2458 kgs of internal fuel, the advanced Uttam AESA radar. Couple that with Air to Air refuelling and top speed of over Mach 1.6 and you have a modern versitale fighter jet.
    -Thanks to its advanced terrain navigation system, it can also fend off enemy attempts to interfer with its radar and nav system, it uses the litening pod for advanced relatistsic 3D imagery of the earth to aid in navigation.
    - In times of conflict the Tejas , tejas's multirole capability allows it to take on a multitude of mission. Currently its being integrated with the 100 kms+ Astra missile and the BrahMos -NG supersonic cruise missile , giving it unmatched capabilities on both Air to Air and Air to Ground roles....

    • @__-fm5qv
      @__-fm5qv Před 2 lety

      I don't believe an air superiority fighter *has* to have 2 engines, it can just be beneficial as an air superiority fighters only really objective is to eliminate the skies of enemy aircraft. Therefore, multi-engine set ups are beneficial from a power perspective which is useful in an air-combat scenario. Both the F-16 and Gripin are very capable multi-role fighters, which means that while they sacrifice a little bit of air-to-air combat ability, they can still keep up with most air superiority fighters. But the primary difference is that they are able to switch to an air to ground role, rather than a purely air-to-air role. Most modern fighters are multi-role for this reason, as they normally don't give up much in comparison to the pure air-superiority fighters of old, whilst offering much more ground support capability.

    Even though the Gripen is a participant in India's MMRCA/MMRFA 2.0, the likelihood of India choosing Gripen are low as its a single engine jet and according to me the only single engine jet the IAF might be interested to buy for MMRFA 2.0 would be the "Checkmate" but it could be a bad choice as MMRFA jets must be Made in India and the "Checkmate" is already not in production and the setup would take till 2030. Then we have the option for F-21 which is also a single engine jet but might get selected because of the "push" Lockheed Martin is presenting for "Made in India" and promises advanced features. Then we have the Eurofighter Typhoon which is also a good option but would most likely not support the "Made in India" initiative under MRFA because its already constructed by 3 different countries and then its for the Rafale which already has infrastructure and training which will reduce cost and time.

Choosing F16 is rather pointless since it has a large RCS and shorter legs than a Jas 39. Much can be said on what fighters India needs, my only thought is that India being a large nation needs a fighter with a 4000 km transport range and a minimum of 1400 km combat range. The latter to have the reach to cover the area of Pakistan. As for spead supercruise and Mac 2 is a good start. From those two perspectives Jas E and Rafale are both good fighters for India.
