I love making cranberry sauce this way, Autumn! ❤️
It's a wonderful way to go, isnt it?!
Autumn that looks delicious, going to make me some for Thanksgiving dinner.
Hope it goes well for you!
It really is! I don’t use sugar any more for myself and my husband, also my daughter and her 2 boys! And I don’t give candy to kids anymore! I will give organic fruit snacks.
I do a cranberry and blueberry that is to die for.
Oh my! Blueberry would be delicious! :)
Do you make it with honey?
Just made my cranberry sauce and used cherry juice and sucanat. I shoulda waited and made it with honey. Next time!
Oh cherry juice would be excellent! I'll have to try that next time!
Sounds yummy but do some research on what heating honey does.
I know they say heating honey destroys lots of the beneficial properties, but I find my body responds much better when I use honey in baking/cooking than when I try to use white sugar. With refined sugars, the side effects are quick to flare up 8n my body. But I can actually handle honey! Hurray!
Does heating up the elderberry reduce its immune properties? Just curious if the heat cancles out any health benefits of the elderberry or honey?
Elderberries need to be cooked before eating on account of cyanide in the seeds. Its immune boosting properties are still present. And yes, you do lose some of the health benefits when you heat raw honey.
Ok, I said elderberries but meant elderberry *juice*.. not sure if the form of elderberry makes a difference when heating. Sounds like elderberry *juice* simmered in this recipe won't take away its beneficial immune properties, if I'm understanding you correctly.
I agree about the honey, too - still better than refined sugar.
@@heidiklessard8440 When I make elderberry juice, I usually create it in my steam juicer. Even if you cook it, it still has immune boosting properties! :) Glad to meet another honey lover!
Nice! Thinking I'll look for the elderberry juice at a whole foods store to skip a step. 🙂Thank you!
Lots of people substitute the elderberry juice for orange juice. Thats an easy find for everyone. :) Good luck.
