Don't get me wrong. I love popular music, but I love it when classical instruments come together as a small chamber ensemble or full orchestra to recreate or possible enhance a classic pop song we all love. This one was just too perfect for me! What do you think?

Beautiful reaction! This song is very important at this point in time. Children are dying across the globe as all these ongoing wars persist.

Dolores' lilts when singing stems from Irish traditional folk music and is called in Celtic “sean nos”. And is not to mistaken for a yodel technique.
I saw The Rock Orchestra live a couple of years ago, and they kick ass. Such a good show. And they really use their instruments as rock instruments. For example all of the violins / violas had guitar pedal boards. And many of the members had multiple roles depending on the song. If I remember correctly one of the cellists was the lead singer on 2 or 3 songs. One of them while she was playing the cello standing up which was cool to see.

Amazing version, the vocalist really shined. I mean, the whole orchestra literally rocked, but the vocalist payed such a big homage to Dolores.

Very nice and true to the original. If I were a Cranberry, I'd be calling her to see about reforming the band! 😊

This was so much fun. There was a video in the internet news this past week about a jazz group listens Nirvana’s Heart Shaped Box for first time and then has to replay. Could be good content

Dolores was taken from us on January 15, 2018 at an all too brief 46 years. The song was written as a response to two children being killed by an IRA bomb during the Bloody Friday attacks in Northern Ireland in 1916. It's probably the most anti-war anthem across the Globe. Sheesh. I can’t believe it’s been that long. It still feels like it was yesterday when I remember hearing that we lost her.
Also, thank you for this music history on the song. I never knew the context and never thought to dive deeper.

Great reaction. You might enjoy The Danish National Symphony Orchestra doing "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly" Not quite the same but pretty epic.

Nah, I'll be honest, for me the 'Bad Wolves' cover remains unbeaten. (If you don't know it, it's a must imo!)
Certainly an interesting cover, which I can imagine Dolores would indeed have liked. But for me, the choice of instruments and the way they are played takes too much of the vibe out of the original. Like the glockenspiel and partly also the violins and trumpets sound too 'positive' to me(?). The oppressive feeling, the anger, despair... somehow I miss something. I'm anything but a classical music expert, but perhaps the flute alone would have been enough to provide a contrast or accent in the arrangement? And no, I'm not saying that to suck up.... Do these words make sense? I don't know how to describe it better. 🙈 Hats off to the singer though. She made her own version of it, very expressive and with a lot of respect for Dolores and the original.

Yeah, I reckon the Bad Wolves version is one of the best. This one is damn impressive too. And unexpectedly, Miley Cyrus did a fantastic live cover also
