When it was still shavings I would just do the deep litter method, adding a fresh layer when needed. I switched to sand and used a mud shovel as a sifter. Now we are moving to our acreage soon and we’re going to make it mobile for a quail tractor.
@@HomesteadingHomie Oh intetesting, im actually debating on whether i want Sand Or Pine at this very moment... Why dont u like Sand? And what kind of sand are u using atm?
Yes, and I’ve briefly had them in a cage setup for several months while doing a good clean out on this aviary. They are now back in it and lay much better in this setup than the quail cage
This is wonderful! Do you have tips on the deep litter method or a video about upkeep? I can't figure it out
This is so cute ❤
It's so beautiful 😍
Thank you! It was a really fun project!
😮 Amazing. Quail are the cutest . I have 28 full grown, and 6 4 week old chics
I love the size of their eggs! They make the perfect protein bites when hard boiled 😄
Cute 😍 😊
No video of showing build? Lol its beautiful!
Thank you!
Nope, didn’t think about it at the time. I have footage of another one we made for the rabbits, but haven’t put the video together yet.😂
Any chance you could share your design plans. I love this. Np otherwise. TY!
Eventually I’ll get a video put together of the one we built for the rabbits.
This is really nice - I have 7 in a cage, but like this more - how do you manage with their poop?

@@HomesteadingHomie Ahh yes we do a quail tractor as well so they get some grass time. Thanks for the reply!
Great job! I just subscribed
I get alot of wind at my place how do you have it positioned for weather?
Love your set up!! What kind of bedding is that on the ground? Pine?
Yes, it was pine shavings. I recently switched to sand but I think I like the deep litter method with the pine shavings better, to be honest.

To the point i was actually planning on having BOTH Sand and Pine side by side just to give the quails some options
Awwwww
Are they broody in there
Yes they are :)

Bruh id live in there 🤣 Just need the wifi password.

Do you get a good amount of eggs?
I’m doing a coop like this as well!
