Gary, getting the audio from a text is of so much value for me as a foreign language learner. Your method is much easier than mine. Thank you so much 🙏🏼
Once again I’ve learned something. I’m sitting here all smug thinking yeah yeah yeah… then WAIT WHAT⁉️ And have to go back to re-listen and BE AMAZED! ❤ Thanks for this!
OMG you're amazing! I love all these examples you've given, I'm especially intrigued with creating a shortcut for creating a spoken audio file. This opens up so many exiting ideas for me. Thank you so much for what you do!!!
Gary, I may not watch every video you post but I am always impressed that there’s something new every morning when I wake up. Seriously impressed by your consistency!
As I was following this I saw that their was an entirely different selection of voices I could choose from and download!! The Option Escape for controlling the speech was also helpful! I am so happy I found your channel!! Great videos!!
I've been wanting to make this speech shortcut for so long but never gave a serious effort to make it. Until this morning. I am currently learning Mandarin. So, I need quick shortcut to listen to how the sentences are read in chinese.
Having my MacOS read to me is extremely useful as I was hit by a strange damage which makes reading very difficult for me. I really love the macos tools reading the selected text. However, it seems like macos is not always able to speak text. For example, there is a lot of text in the system settings. For example, the last lines in wifi, is about two lines long, and I can not ask the system to speak system items. Is that really the case, or is it just because my macos is Intel version? And once again a thanks for all the youtube presentations you make!
If you can select the text, you should be able to use this. But there is also System Settings, Accessibility, Spoken Content, Speak Items Under the Pointer for other things.
🤣 For those as dumb as me, I first tried pressing the option key, expecting to then press cmd and then press S, but nothing happened…😮 Eventually it dawned on my to press _and hold_ option AND cmd AND S together, not as individual key entries. As a MacOS newbie I live and learn … slowly 😅.
Hi there, thank you for this great video that will help me as a teacher. How can we add a stop function to the speaking shortcut ? Thx in advance for your answer
Great, but how about add "to music as a spoken text?" (the first command when you right click). I used this feature since years and it has been faster for me.
Hi Gary Quick question off topic a lil If I purchase your FCP beginner series ( I think ten videos) those will be mine to watch as long or as many times as I want or need ? Would that be the same for iMovie pay series you have as well ? Thanks
Hi I'm blind is there a device that can read info from the outside for example I can hold the device in my hand and aim it at objects and the machine will read it back to me? Thanks your app has been very helpful to me with reading the Mac and iPhone
I'm a newbie, only having been using a Mac for 15 years, and learn something from your channel everytime!
lol!

I show Stop in both methods in the video here.
I saw it clearly for speaking text but I can't find the stop action for the speaking shortcut
@@joelscialom4522 Edit, Speech, Stop Speaking. The other is a button to click.

Not sure what you are asking.

I don't know about other devices, but the iPhone's Magnifier app has a Detection Mode that does some of this.
Check out LyriQ
Do you know why it does not highlight text while it is reading in Firefox or Chrome? Thanks!
I guess those apps don't support it, perhaps?
How do you type the symbols for the comand?
Not sure what you are asking.
ol' mac user: cannot for the life of me figure out why I do not have the 'speech' option available under the EDIT pull-down menus in Firefox 😶
Firefox doesn't seem to have it. I guess the developers didn't implement it there.
