Im kinda disappointed we don’t have his Wrestlemania 24 match against Triple H and Randy Orton. It was his first Wrestlemania loss (and one of the few times he did lose at WM) and would’ve switched things up in having a triple threat match included instead of all them just being 1 on 1.

Why would yet put in a match which lasted like 20 seconds. So why not we play as Cena at NYR2006 in the elimination chamber match and then play as Edge afterwards Also means we get Kurt Angle 2006, Kane 2006, HBK 2006, Carlito and Chris Masters
I'm a little disappointed that we aren't getting the WWE Championship Triple Threat from WrestleMania 24, but I'm happy with most of this list. Hopefully we get a Randy Orton showcase next year
Overall its a pretty good match listings although I'm surprised they didn't added his match with Shawn Michaels from Raw in 2007 or his match with Kevin Owens at Elimination Chamber 2015 in the mode but other than that I'm completely fine with the matches they've chosen. I'm also glad to see the ruthless aggression era get more love in the game this year.
I was thinking about that when I was going through the photos for the matches. It'd be cool if they added the blood for the match but I've got a feeling they'll leave it out.
Now the most important question is if we're going to be allowed to use the graphics in universe mode or are they going to hide them so we can't use them, last year not letting us use the overlays was extremely stupid

The biggest omissions I see are: - John Cena vs Cartilo (Smackdown 2004) - John Cena vs Sheamus (TLC 2009) - John Cena vs CM Punk (Money In The Bank 2011) - John Cena vs Daniel Bryan (SummerSlam 2013) - John Cena vs Kevin Owens (Elimination Chamber 2015)
Glad to see the SummerSlam 2006 arena. Though I was sick of the then, I believe they used the same or a similar one for like 4 years straight, after the HD/Reality era where they only change logos on a LED screen it's quite refreshing.
Random examples of some matches that I presumed would be in this showcase: Royal Rumble 2015, Raw 2007 in London against HBK, Backlash 2009, WrestleMania 36 Firefly Funhouse, No Mercy 2016 Triple Threat, SummerSlam 2013, TLC 2013, and maybe No Way Out 08 and 09. Can't complain at all with the quality of matches we're gonna get to play through, even though Cena loses all of them. P.S.: Thankful there's not a trace of Wade Barrett or the Nexus in this Showcase list this year.
I find it weird that the preorder pack is called "Ruthless Aggression" pack and not OVW pack. A true Ruthless Aggression pack would've included Batista 05, Orton 07, Lesnar 02, and Cena 07 (SVR 2007 attire). It's also weird that they're giving us Wrestlemania 22 arena. A year late, I'd say.
I don't know if this existed before but I found that Paul Heyman and Roman Reigns' entrance where Heyman praises him is now basic when assign Heyman as Reigns manager.
That won't matter without having that version of Randy Orton in the game as that version of Randy Orton had less tattoos, a different tron, and different animations. I'm pissed.

Pretty stoked about the showcase, not gonna lie. Some nice additions. Now, the real question on my mind: Universe Mode. Is it actually as different as claimed? Looking forward to footage of that first
It's cool that they're including all this stuff, but I hope in the future we'll see a showcase mode for someone like The Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, Triple H, Edge...someone who has been around even longer so we can have arenas, attires and wrestlers from pre 2000. Could you imagine the amount of content there'd be for an Undertaker mode? There would be arenas dating back to 1990 through to today.
Taker vs Cena 2003 is a must. Fantastic feud, mostly because of the vignettes that led up to. They're not PG, because they include offensive language, offensive acts like John Cena pissing on a tombstone, but there was a nice edited promo that had a lot of good parts that was used for the pay-per-view that would be nice to be seen an in-game but I know they won't do that because the superfans at 2K probably don't know this. Shame because they were fantastic especially the one where John Cena burn the Undertaker's dead man logos into the ground, which would look girl really cinematic in in-game graphics.

Yes ! Happy to know we'll get a 2003 Lesnar, 2008 Batista, and longer haired versions of Edge and Triple H. As I much prefer these versions, than the current/updated ones. So that's great news. Happy that we get One Night Stand 2006 and Night Of Champions 2008 arenas, too. Vengeance 2003 is a nice addition too. I didn't like Lita's model revelead when they showed her entrance, 'cause the hairstyle is bad. Her hair on the top of her head looks pulled back and almost like they are tied in the back of her head. Her hair never looked this way, so the model is off, and since we can't change hairstyles, that's a big issue. But hopefully, with the 2 Edge matches from 2006, maybe we'll get a model version with the right hairstyle, this time. I was hoping for a few more arenas from between 2002 to 2006 ( that was when the arenas looked the best IMO ) , but hey, at least we're getting a few ones, so that's cool. Sad that they removed the WM21 arena though. I know Cena won it, but, since both Cena and JBL are in the game, and knowing that arena was in 2K22 already ( so they didn't have much work to do to put it in 2K23 ) not taking advantage of it and add that cool WM21 is disappointing. WM XX arena would be great too, but that one is impossible, due to Show being in AEW, sadly. WM21 would've been possible though... Plus, it wouldn't break the concept of this year's showcase, as it is centered on never giving up. They could've used this match to make us play as Cena, to show that never giving up pays, becoming world champion for the first time and all. So, yeah, that's a missed opportunity to keep that cool WM 21 arena in the game IMO.
What a great 2kshowcase we are going to have, I hope that option to remove the suspenders returns as in wwe2k18, and on 19 that was a very realistic detail and I don't understand why that was removed but I hope it is in the base game
@KingMiamiNewYork I can play on the 13th because on Xbox I changed my timezone to the farthest. So when it is the 13th in this timezone on Xbox it will be a day ahead so I could play a day earlier. If you got the Deluxe edition I also recommend you also do the same! To play a day earlier

@@angelserrano9049 Yes, because I buy a 2K game for it's Showcase mode to be accurate to real life. There will always be exceptions like 2K16 having "The Enforcer" instead of Mike Tyson for the Stone Cold Wrestlemania 14 match, but this is LITERALLY embarrassing. The gloves he did wear in real life are IN the creative suite, and now that they are incorporating the simulated animations with the real footage, there is quite literally NO excuses here. I ain't dropping $60-$120 for a game that can't get one of the best matches of the 2010's right.
When I read the confirmed list of matches for the showcase mode I am so happy we got the 03 version of John Cena not only that of Brock lesnar and the undertaker that is fire not only that I'm very disappointed since they include the 02 debut they should have included another 03 of Kurt Angle at no mercy or the classic HBK Monday night raw 07 I would replace the wrestlemania 34 match with one of those mostly the shawn Michael's match which I'm so disappointed they never added But other than that I'm very excited for the matches can't wait to play it and most of all so looking forward to WWE2K23 coming out very very soon everything looks fire looks tremendous cant wait
Awesome with these showcase was longer I remember 2k15 being like 21 matchs. And 30 year's or Wrestlemania had a lot as well. They could have made us play every Randy vs Cena match and other big rivals matchs like all the edge matches.
It’s been so short ever since they brought it back in 19 with Bryan… seriously? 12 matches, 14 matches? We had over 40 each in WWE ‘13 and 2K14 and nearly as much in 2K15 and 2K16.

I really hope they brought back Brocks Running STO. The current one sucks. It's basically a weak clothesline now. Don't know why they felt the need to reanimate the move. We need the moonsault stomp back too.
Am I the only one thinking a classic 2009-2010 Sheamus should be in it as well as 2010 Wade Barrett. Only if Punk never signed with AEW, 2K could have cut a deal with him while he worked with Fox and had him in the showcase.
@@thechosenone1235 it's one extra model of a guy that works for the company and messing with Sheamus which wouldn't take much to any effort. Nothing needs to be removed.
My biggest complaint about 2k22 is the controls they should have kept the controls from 2k19 or even 2k20 nothing was wrong with them there were things that needed to change but not the controls if they don't revert back to the old controls and get rid of the combos and block features then i probably won't buy it we don't need combos or blocks in a Wrestling game if you want that in a game go play some of the popular side scroll fighting games leave the wrestling games alone. The speed of the game is fine and unlimited reversals that's great and i would enjoy the game more if the controls get changed back and probabaly change the pin style back to the B button it's awkward having to use the Joystick to Pin someone. If they combined the Graphics and modes of 2k22 and the detailed features of 2k19 with there control scheme i think it would be the best wrestling 2k game I'm hoping 2k23 might be it.
I hated the controls for 2k22 at first but i've come to really enjoy them, especially the block and dodge mechanic. 19 controls were simpler and emulated real life matches better but 2k22's controls are good as well. This is MY opinion so it's the correct take for everyone.
Blocking and dodging in a wrestling game looks so wrong, I wish we could turn those off in the options. I usually avoid using those but sometimes the AI will use it.
Sucks that they did Cena vs Edge twice (not even doing the TLC match for the 2nd). Took the lazy route instead of having WM24 and Burn in my Light Orton.
@@Smacktalks Surely that can be edited via Create-An-Entrance just like the previous games in the series. It kinda bugs me a bit that they have all these retro superstars and arenas yet Visual Concepts thinks it's a good idea to use modern day video trons.
Styles' gloves are wrong but seems to confirm that his turquoise/ light blue attire he wore throughout 2022 is his default attire. I hope they fix this before the game releases.
Hot take, but I feel like you should be able to choose who you play as for each match in a showcase mode with each having their own objectives and some different cutscenes and the ability to unlock different things for the person you play as and more rewards for completing the match as both/all wrestlers in the specific match
Honestly this Is the most hyped I've Been about showcase since Austin all classic matches you are their opponents so takes repetiveness out of being the same guy.
We've seen 2k have one off matches that have a one off star for the showcase. Like Mikey Whipwreck in the Austin showcase for his time in ecw. I wish they did the same for Carlito. His debut was beating Cena in his hometown no less. It would fit with the narrative of never giving up that Cena was humbled that night embarrassed because he look Carlito lightly and paid for it. Plus it'd just be nice to have Carlito back in game after so long. I thought he was overall on good terms with wwe. Granted we haven't seen em in wwe since his rumble appearance and his random tag match on raw. But he would've been a great inclusion, that's not cool he's not in.
I’m digging the different mode in showcase. My only thing is that I hope they update the arenas instead of making them all look the same (Nitro, ONS) and put the bell in before the intros and put Mike Rome and the ref in the ring during intros
I don't want the modern ring announcer in the showcase matches its innacurate you need the announcers from the period the match is from Tony chimel, lillan garcia, Justin Roberts, Stephen de angleis ect also they shouldn't the refs face out when using real footage it ruins the immersion.
The one I am hoping they add is the triple threat match in WM 24. My First WM I watched fully and ONLY one i watched thus far...Back then they was a subscription but it wasn't locked in yet so watching was the only way i saw the match. Crazy how those 3 had 20-30 years in them. that match was and always will be the Dream Match of Dream Matches.
I think three other matches they should've added were Kevin Owens vs John Cena at Elimination Chamber 2015, Seth vs Cena at Summerslam (although this probably wasn't added because they can use the model of that tv show host), and Miz vs Cena at wrestlemania 27
Massively disappointed not to see a Barrett match here but still hoping he appears as DLC. The showcase matches will mean I don’t have to download as many arenas and attires for a Ruthless Aggression universe though.

It's cool that they're including all this stuff, but I hope in the future we'll see a showcase mode for someone like The Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, Triple H, Edge...someone who has been around even longer so we can have arenas, attires and wrestlers from pre 2000. Could you imagine the amount of content there'd be for an Undertaker mode? There would be arenas dating back to 1990 through to today.

Taker vs Cena 2003 is a must. Fantastic feud, mostly because of the vignettes that led up to. They're not PG, because they include offensive language, offensive acts like John Cena pissing on a tombstone, but there was a nice edited promo that had a lot of good parts that was used for the pay-per-view that would be nice to be seen an in-game but I know they won't do that because the superfans at 2K probably don't know this.
Shame because they were fantastic especially the one where John Cena burn the Undertaker's dead man logos into the ground, which would look girl really cinematic in in-game graphics.
I hopefully undertaker's entrance for his motorcycle is not work then undertaker is disappointed and force him walk through entrance ramp on wwe 2k23.

Yes ! Happy to know we'll get a 2003 Lesnar, 2008 Batista, and longer haired versions of Edge and Triple H. As I much prefer these versions, than the current/updated ones. So that's great news. Happy that we get One Night Stand 2006 and Night Of Champions 2008 arenas, too. Vengeance 2003 is a nice addition too.
I didn't like Lita's model revelead when they showed her entrance, 'cause the hairstyle is bad. Her hair on the top of her head looks pulled back and almost like they are tied in the back of her head. Her hair never looked this way, so the model is off, and since we can't change hairstyles, that's a big issue. But hopefully, with the 2 Edge matches from 2006, maybe we'll get a model version with the right hairstyle, this time.
I was hoping for a few more arenas from between 2002 to 2006 ( that was when the arenas looked the best IMO ) , but hey, at least we're getting a few ones, so that's cool.
Sad that they removed the WM21 arena though. I know Cena won it, but, since both Cena and JBL are in the game, and knowing that arena was in 2K22 already ( so they didn't have much work to do to put it in 2K23 ) not taking advantage of it and add that cool WM21 is disappointing. WM XX arena would be great too, but that one is impossible, due to Show being in AEW, sadly. WM21 would've been possible though... Plus, it wouldn't break the concept of this year's showcase, as it is centered on never giving up. They could've used this match to make us play as Cena, to show that never giving up pays, becoming world champion for the first time and all. So, yeah, that's a missed opportunity to keep that cool WM 21 arena in the game IMO.
They take it out to bring it back later as a “new” arena

What a great 2kshowcase we are going to have, I hope that option to remove the suspenders returns as in wwe2k18, and on 19 that was a very realistic detail and I don't understand why that was removed but I hope it is in the base game
And I understand why they use real footage and cutscenes now too, cause they are lazy as hell now.

@KingMiamiNewYork I can play on the 13th because on Xbox I changed my timezone to the farthest. So when it is the 13th in this timezone on Xbox it will be a day ahead so I could play a day earlier. If you got the Deluxe edition I also recommend you also do the same! To play a day earlier

There will always be exceptions like 2K16 having "The Enforcer" instead of Mike Tyson for the Stone Cold Wrestlemania 14 match, but this is LITERALLY embarrassing. The gloves he did wear in real life are IN the creative suite, and now that they are incorporating the simulated animations with the real footage, there is quite literally NO excuses here. I ain't dropping $60-$120 for a game that can't get one of the best matches of the 2010's right.

When I read the confirmed list of matches for the showcase mode I am so happy we got the 03 version of John Cena not only that of Brock lesnar and the undertaker that is fire not only that I'm very disappointed since they include the 02 debut they should have included another 03 of Kurt Angle at no mercy or the classic HBK Monday night raw 07 I would replace the wrestlemania 34 match with one of those mostly the shawn Michael's match which I'm so disappointed they never added
But other than that I'm very excited for the matches can't wait to play it and most of all so looking forward to WWE2K23 coming out very very soon everything looks fire looks tremendous cant wait

Awesome with these showcase was longer I remember 2k15 being like 21 matchs. And 30 year's or Wrestlemania had a lot as well. They could have made us play every Randy vs Cena match and other big rivals matchs like all the edge matches.
It’s been so short ever since they brought it back in 19 with Bryan… seriously? 12 matches, 14 matches? We had over 40 each in WWE ‘13 and 2K14 and nearly as much in 2K15 and 2K16.
Here are other matches that would have also fit well in this selection:
- Cena vs. Reigns (No Mercy 2017 with the ROMAN EMPIRE version of Reigns)
- Cena vs. HBK (RAW, April 2017 with modern DX version of HBK)
- Cena vs. The Fiend (Wrestlemania 36 with FIEND version of Bray Wyatt)
- Cena vs. Orton vs. HHH (Wrestlemania 24 with 2008 version of Orton)
- Cena vs. Miz (Wrestlemania 27 with 2011 version of Miz)
- Cena vs. Kevin Owens (Elimination Chamber with 2015 version of Kevin Owens)
A dream have would been
- Cena vs. Bryan (Summerslam 2013 with YES! version of Daniel Bryan)
- Cena vs. CM Punk (MITB 2011 with SUMMER OF PUNK version of CM Punk)
Cena vs Bray from Extreme Rules 2014, Cena vs Sheamus from TLC 2009 and Cena vs Carlito from SmackDown 2004 could have also worked.

My biggest complaint about 2k22 is the controls they should have kept the controls from 2k19 or even 2k20 nothing was wrong with them there were things that needed to change but not the controls if they don't revert back to the old controls and get rid of the combos and block features then i probably won't buy it we don't need combos or blocks in a Wrestling game if you want that in a game go play some of the popular side scroll fighting games leave the wrestling games alone. The speed of the game is fine and unlimited reversals that's great and i would enjoy the game more if the controls get changed back and probabaly change the pin style back to the B button it's awkward having to use the Joystick to Pin someone. If they combined the Graphics and modes of 2k22 and the detailed features of 2k19 with there control scheme i think it would be the best wrestling 2k game I'm hoping 2k23 might be it.

I hated the controls for 2k22 at first but i've come to really enjoy them, especially the block and dodge mechanic. 19 controls were simpler and emulated real life matches better but 2k22's controls are good as well. This is MY opinion so it's the correct take for everyone.

Blocking and dodging in a wrestling game looks so wrong, I wish we could turn those off in the options. I usually avoid using those but sometimes the AI will use it.
I like 2k22 controls better, it just works better and has less problems. Way easier and more things you can do, gets old less quickly

Hot take, but I feel like you should be able to choose who you play as for each match in a showcase mode with each having their own objectives and some different cutscenes and the ability to unlock different things for the person you play as and more rewards for completing the match as both/all wrestlers in the specific match
Honestly this Is the most hyped I've Been about showcase since Austin all classic matches you are their opponents so takes repetiveness out of being the same guy.
It's a lot of summerslam classic arenas, would like to see others also 😅
We've seen 2k have one off matches that have a one off star for the showcase. Like Mikey Whipwreck in the Austin showcase for his time in ecw. I wish they did the same for Carlito. His debut was beating Cena in his hometown no less. It would fit with the narrative of never giving up that Cena was humbled that night embarrassed because he look Carlito lightly and paid for it. Plus it'd just be nice to have Carlito back in game after so long. I thought he was overall on good terms with wwe. Granted we haven't seen em in wwe since his rumble appearance and his random tag match on raw. But he would've been a great inclusion, that's not cool he's not in.
Kinda wish we would have gotten Cena vs Seth Rollins at summerslam as well.
I’m digging the different mode in showcase. My only thing is that I hope they update the arenas instead of making them all look the same (Nitro, ONS) and put the bell in before the intros and put Mike Rome and the ref in the ring during intros
I don't want the modern ring announcer in the showcase matches its innacurate you need the announcers from the period the match is from Tony chimel, lillan garcia, Justin Roberts, Stephen de angleis ect also they shouldn't the refs face out when using real footage it ruins the immersion.

The one I am hoping they add is the triple threat match in WM 24. My First WM I watched fully and ONLY one i watched thus far...Back then they was a subscription but it wasn't locked in yet so watching was the only way i saw the match. Crazy how those 3 had 20-30 years in them. that match was and always will be the Dream Match of Dream Matches.

Only 14 matches? I appreciate the Ruthless Aggression era content but come on, 2K15-2K16 still had over 60 matches combined (including DLC).

I think they've had to cut down on the matches because of all the other modes. It was the same with 2K22 😔
I think three other matches they should've added were Kevin Owens vs John Cena at Elimination Chamber 2015, Seth vs Cena at Summerslam (although this probably wasn't added because they can use the model of that tv show host), and Miz vs Cena at wrestlemania 27
It sucks the mode is so short once again, would’ve been way better if it had 25-30 matches that he lost rather than 14.
