In this video we talk to 3 wildlife management professionals: David Shepherdson and Michelle Schireman of the Oregon Zoo, and Nicole Stevens of the Washington State Fish and Wildlife Services as they release captive reared western pond turtles into the Columbia River Gorge.
A career in Wildlife Management can be tough to get into but can be very rewarding. Fish and Wildlife, zoos and aquariums, and non-profit organizations are the key organizations that hire Wildlife management professionals.
Oregon State University has online degrees in:

You don't have to work at a zoo. I've spent three summer field research seasons working on projects that weren't related to or funded by zoos. Hope that helps!

You can always look for local conservation groups or wildlife refuges. Like if you went to school in Arkansas you could have the chance to work with the Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge which aims to help larger mammals be rehabilitated from bad situations such as abandonment or abuse

In my country zoo was a life saver for wildlife because habitat loss and fragmentation is every where, every house have fences that wildlife can’t come across while people think that wildlife need to separate from city and no one can shouldn’t make use of wildlife. So there was only illegal hunting in my country because legally hunting was wrong. So no job ,no people to concern.Include zoo that save wildlife . They criticize zoo that wildlife should life in the wild. While there was no more forest because people who criticize took all area and change them to city and they just don’t have a clue that they have part in this.they can do increse more area for habitat or live with wildlife but they destroy it ,habituate.
Well, i.e. if the forest is too small for incresing populations of elephant will you kindly recieve elephant to your house?
Wildlife management need so much money, Many time zoo was cooperation with sanctuary to reproduce rare species/ made people awarness and know more about wildlife cause in the wild it is hard to see wildlife. There was so many movie out there that move children love wildlife and one of actor may come from zoo or learn from zoo. Don’t want you to think that way. Find out why some animal need to live in zoo and benefits of zoo to wildlife in whole country

@@ziatmg95 well by wildlife management we mean the process or part of wildlife conservation that controls and maintains the quality and quantity of animals. It's more like managing wildlife and it's habitat i.e including man for the benefit of the entire biota ( all the plants and animals in the entire environment )

I’m a teenager and think I want to double Major .I won’t to be a police officers I of course I will major in criminal justice to pursue my dream career but I also am in love with wildlife and natural resources.I also want to work with wolves or coyotes,I love them and I think they are absolutely beautiful.I would love to be a police officer and do wildlife stuff on the side!I was wondering if there are any jobs for teenagers 16+ to work with wolves or coyotes since I cannot pursue my dream of being a cop just yet.

Hailstorm K9 if your working with coyotes your most likely going to be killing them seeing how they are over populated and invasive most places

Have you thought of a career as an Environmental Police officer? Many state Environmental Protection departments have a division of Environmental police that protect natural resources and public safety, enforcing hunting regulations and public safety policies in protected areas. You may not work directly with wolves or coyotes but you could help protect them and have a career working in the outdoors.

Many of our students go into jobs that are local to them. Things like fish hatcheries, game wardens or working for government organizations at local, state and national parks.
