I wonder how this very small developer studio could affort to buy the satellite scenery, while at Laminar Research they aren't able to do so. Sad, that Nintendo Switch games may gonna look better then a 60$-Pro-Desktop Sim in the future.

x-plane 12 is in EARLY ACCESS and they're working on better ground textures AND 3d grass.
Well, GeoFS does all of that for free using the CesiumJS architecture. And, they do it for free (albeit with low-res imagery if you don't pay $10 a YEAR). Nowadays there are incredibly affordable imagery API's out there that can be covered with only advertising on a web page. X-Plane is an independent software developed with no ties to Cesium, whereas GeoFS's creator has contributed directly to the development of the platform it runs on.
There are probably also legal implications but i believe Cesium is open-sourced so there should be no big reason other than a difference in programming languages.
Scenery isn't everything though, and you have to take a look at a lot of other things. For example, FlightGear has arguably poor graphics yet has a very realistic flight modeling system. It is more common for FS developers to focus on flight characteristics rather than graphics, since in training circumstances graphics rarely matter (outside of certain VFR practice which would require some level of scenery fidelity)
In this case, the flight model is rather poor, and systems modeling is nonexistent. Cockpits are highly unrealistic, and so on. I get that this is a switch game, but again, there are flight sims from the early 2000's designed to run on worse hardware than the switch, and now there is a flight sim that can run in a browser on a low-end chromebook. It should not be branded as a flight sim until it is acually representative of real flight in a realistic way.

You should try PTFS again it has improved A LOT and it isn't MSFS, but it's more fun for RPs and stuff, but it also has a lot of planes
