The fun part of the Killing Monsters trailer is that Lambert, if you chose a different conversation option than you did (iirc) during your quest in Kaer Morhen with him, will talk down on Geralt about the 'killing monsters' quote... And Geralt gets really defensive about it. 🤣Geralt says it, and Lamberts makes fun of it! 🤣

And yeah, Lambert is an awesome character. One of my favorites. I think Geralt and Vesemir are my two favorite Witchers although Lambert is right up there.

In "Killing Monsters" they're on the road looking for Yennefer. And if you look closely, the leader of the Nilfgaardian band who ends up with the rope arround his neck, is actually a deserter that you can see fleeing the battlefield in the game's introduction with Yennefer.
The trailer a "Night to remember" is indeed refering to the Bloodwine DLC, but the interesting thing is that this trailer was released just before the main game, so, until we saw the city and met the characters, none of us understood that this trailer was a massive spoiler one year before the dlc's release lol.

maybe someone already said that, but that vampire from second trailer is Orianna. A host of the orphanage in blood & wine dlc. She sings this song to calm down a boy during massive vampires attack and bites him soon after (not to kill him, just a bit). Geralt interrupts her, but the boy stands up for her. He leaves, but promises her he'll come back. Thier dialogue at the beginning is a reference to that scene.

  • @juppjames9635
    @juppjames9635 Před 2 lety +13

Yes, it was a type of Vampire in the second trailer, and the potion was Black Blood, the bomb he used was the Moon Dust bomb. Both of these things make fights against vampires much easier. Alchmey is really the key to get smoothly through Death March. But, you don't need them, you can also use Yrden against them, but this is a bit more complicated.

In the books, Geralt tells Iola the novice that the first man he ever killed was in this exact scenario. Young, green, cocksure Geralt set out from Kaer Morhen and came across this same scenario. Feeling like a hero, he cut the men down, and expected the young maid to fall swooning into the arms of her hero. Instead, she throws up all over herself and screams bloody murder at what Geralt has done. Hence, he tells the girl here to close her eyes. This isn’t his first rodeo doing this.

The city in the "A Night to Remember" trailer is Beauclair, in Toussaint. You've that to look forward to. As Jupp and Griffy have already said, the bomb was Moon Dust and the potion Black Blood, very useful in Blood and Wine I'd say. But also useful in the base game, it's effective against necrophages e.g. drowners, grave hags, ghouls, and against some other types of monster too. I think "A Night to Remember" is the best trailer in terms of showing what kind of tactics are available - potions, bombs, signs. The graphics are obviously cinematic but the gameplay shown really is how the gameplay is in the game so it's a very fair trailer.

@@TalSet333 It isn't. Novigrad's bridge to Temple Isle, St Gregory's Bridge, is covered in houses and is far more chunky than the slender bridge in the "A Night to Remember" trailer. Temple Isle is also in the estuary of the Pontar. The architecture is clearly different to Novigrad, but I grant you it doesn't quite match up with Beauclair perfectly. Anyway, CDPR confirmed on their forums that it was Beauclair in this trailer.

Fascinating thing about "A Night to Remember" is that it was one of the first trailers for the Witcher 3 prime game...but if you've played through all the DLC's you realize Geralt met this vampire in the last DLC! CDPRed had this in mind before they released the original game, and two DLC's...and this scene actually takes place some time AFTER the end of all the DLC's, because Orianna is alive at the end of Blood and Wine! After the fight when Geralt rides off, he's riding toward what is obviously Beauclair, the capital of the Duchy of Toussaint! The writers had this in their minds before they even put out Wild Hunt, Heart of Stone and Blood and Wine! It's a sequel scene to the third DLC! The game is magnificent on its own but the writing and the plot is there before they sold the first copy!

  • @donwild50
    @donwild50 Před rokem +2

The last "trailer" isn't a classic trailer...they're showing actual game play, fights, races, travel...unlike so many game companies, CDPR actually has the trust that giving the client a taste of what they will actually be doing is a "good" thing...there's no "Bait and Switch" here.

What I always like about the Night to Remember trailer is that it actually nicely portrays (in cimematic style instead of gameplay of course) a combat with a vampire, Bruxa and so on (one can have a really great fight like that with some in Blood and Wine) they use the powers like in the trailer and so on :).

  • @StefanConstantinDumitrache

There is a 10 Years Anniversary trailer which you should NOT watch until after you finish the whole experience (basically after Blood and Wine).
It ain't called A Night to Remember for nothing. Remember that woman. You might actually be able to see her on the starting screen sometimes, where Geralt meditates.
It pays to see the trailers before getting into the experience. I mean they don't spoil anything the devs don't want you to know, since they are pre-release trailers. So I encourage you to see the DLC trailers as well. They are at the same level with Blizzard trailers of old: gorgeously cinematic and meticulously detailed and realistic.

Go and see what a gigantic place that was not able to be exploited story wise, you can still visit it and find some merchants though. The quote about evil in the "Killing Monsters" trailer is actually from "The Last Wish" collection of stories (it's not a novel, but rather a collection of intertwined, abd/or loosely connected short stories). The one involving Renfri. They used this quote in the show as well. It's one of my favorites.
A lot of people misunderstand it though. It's actually ironic. It's there to point out later that Geralt DOES care, and that sometimes you DO have to choose to do something to stop evil. Sometimes having compassion is the right thing to do.
But choosing comes with consequences. And Geralt knows that. But he chooses anyway.
It is heavily implied that Geralt (and many other witchers) play up the effects their mutations have on their emotions, or apparent lack thereof, when convenient.
In reality, they (especially Geralt) have plenty of emotions. They just have a very difficult job and sometimes need to use this excuse as a tool to avoid troublesome situations, or a coping mechanism to deal with trauma.
The way they used this quote was so perfect. He says it, as a sort of off-screen or in his head narration. Meanwhile, he's making LOTS of choices to avoid certain bad or even accidental evils, while choosing to do others.
Vesemir tells him to stay neutral, mind his own business. He ignores him and gets ready to interfere anyway. Which would potentially risk his safety with the emperor since he's interfering.
Vesemir tells him to make it quick. Which then makes him re-sheathe his sword (I imagine him thinking, "The F I will... Imma take my time" 😆). Fantastic detail. He is kinda choosing a small evil here. He could have made their deaths quick. But they don't really deserve it, so he chooses slow. And uses his bare hands. Because he's angry and disgusted.
But my favorite is when he tells the young lady to close her eyes 🥺 So sweet and caring. He doesn't want to traumatize her further.
Sure, he's not hugging her after, or asking if she's ok. He knows she's alive, but that she'll never really be ok again. He also is very aware that even though he saved her, he's still scary.
Not only because he's a witcher, but I think also because he's a man. And I think that's extremely thoughtful of him.
Maybe I'm projecting, because I'm a female survivor of SA, but I think they meant to imply that these monsters had violated her, and were 💀 her in order to cover their war crime. And that this was clear to Geralt.
So that's why he felt compelled to interfere, and why he was so thoughtful towards her, saving her but also not invading her space. Trying to bother her as little as possible.
It really points out the extreme nature of Geralt, and why he's the best kind of "hypocrite". He's grouchy, and gruff, and he may claim to not feel feelings, but he feels them for sure. He's super thoughtful, and caring. He's just traumatized and trying to get through his life, do his job. He's vulnerable, so he needs to keep that wall up. When he does care, he just often has a hard time expressing that in an obvious way. It's very subtle, and not direct. They really got that message across in that trailer. Which IMO is really hard to do.
This is why the Witcher world is great storytelling. It's harsh and terrible, and the hero is reluctant, but he's trying to be a hero whether he admits it or not, whether the often nothing but awful choices available allow that or not. I love that the devs really kept that consistent in the games. Especially in the 3rd one. The storytelling in Wild Hunt just was epic. They nailed it.

  • @MuricaTurkey

Sorry for another comment lol But just want to add something about Emhyr seeming more shady about Ciri in that last trailer.
In the books, he's super creepy and gross regarding his interest in her. He doesn't want her just to take over, in a normal "I'm getting too old for this sh!t and need my heir to take over" kind of way. More like what Eredin (and the king before him) wants her for. For breeding. Doesn't seem to matter to Emhyr that she's his daughter 🤢
The prophecy (or maybe more than one? I can't remember exactly) regarding Ciri are long and involve numerous big events, not just avoiding the end of the world, but also that her offspring would rule the world, or most if it. Something like that. And, as a total narcissist, he felt that that child should be his? Like 100%? I guess that child being his grandchild only wasn't good enough? 🤢
Anyway, originally, Ciri wasn't just hiding away because her powers made her volatile. Or just because of the Wild Hunt. It was also to hide from her gross dad who had weird ass Ancient Egyptian ideas on what "pure royal magical blood" meant 😬🤮
I think that's what they were hinting at there. Seems they backed off that though in the end. I get it. The dude is already insufferable. Ciri wanting to be free to do what she wants and not be stuck ruling when she never wanted to be, is reason enough to not indulge his wishes. The world of the Witcher is already so f-cked up. Like, they didn't want one of the possible endings to be "Sell Ciri out to be used like a brood mare to be violated by her own dad". Like, no. Geralt might be callous sometimes. But not like THAT. So this is one change I'm glad to see. The way the game worked out, for it to have a soul, that needed to be changed.
