      It is, custom keyboards get expensive fast

    I have this keyboard, with the exact same config. And I NEVER thought to use plate-mount stabs! Thanks for that. My spacebar is scratchy from one side, and I am not sure why that is. Maybe its the keycap itself which I will have to check. Have you tried doing any mods to make the keyboards sound more marbly/poppier?

    • @SimulatorTech
      @SimulatorTech  Před 8 měsíci

      Haha we've come full circle with stabs! I haven't tried any other mods on this board but I'm sure using the pe foam and a tape mod would give you a poppier sound

      @mufaa Před 8 měsíci +1

      @@SimulatorTech Lol, we have indeed. I tried tape mod but couldn't get it to sound poppier. I guess the flexible plate and PCB just aren't conducive to that sound.

    • @SimulatorTech
      @SimulatorTech  Před 8 měsíci

      Huh I'm surprised tape modding didn't help too much! What switches are you currently using?

    • @mufaa
      @mufaa Před 8 měsíci +1

      @@SimulatorTech Just reapplied tape mod and it seems to have made some difference than how it was previously. Still not "poppy" but its deeper. I am using Jade Blossom with Rome keycaps.
      Also, do you notice any scratchiness with the Jades? I feel there is a slight scratch in the switches, and I noticed them on both the EK75 and Monsgeek M1W. It only surfaces with the tape mod!
      Also, can't thank you enough for pointing out the plate supports plate-mount stabs! Just installed Everglide V3 plate mounts with plumber's mod on the spacebar and its beautiful.

      Huh, I haven't noticed any scratchiness with my jade blossom switches, but that could just be batch variance. On the tape mod part, I'm not really sure what else I can think of. Maybe louder switches like epomaker wisterias could help but I don't know if the risk is worth the cost. Also, I'm glad the plate mount stab worked for you!

    Is this a good option for a first custom keyboard build? What other DIY keyboard kits can you recommend at a 100-150$ price range? Great video as always!

    • @SimulatorTech
      @SimulatorTech  Před 6 měsíci +2

      Thanks! I think this board is a great first kit, though I would also look into the monsgeek m1 if you want something in a similar price range. Alternatively, if you're willing to wait, you could get a zoom75, qk75, mkc75, etc on another round of gb or extras.

      @nicotin8591 Před 6 měsíci +1

      @@SimulatorTech Thank you for your fast response. Since I don‘t want to do a gb I‘ll look a bit more into both the M1, as well as the EK75 even though the M1 seems to be the more popular budget keyboard..

    • @SimulatorTech
      @SimulatorTech  Před 6 měsíci +2

      Yeah the m1 kind of blew up a few months ago so there's a ton of coverage on it. Good luck with your build

    This is not budget, but cool video.

    • @SimulatorTech

      I mean, relative to most custom keyboards this is pretty cheap. It's certainly not the cheapest, but it's unfair to say it's not budget. Budget can be any price as long as it falls below a certain price point and the reason I consider this board budget I because it competes with boards like the zoom75 and qk75 and falls below their price points

      @typeandtypes Před 7 měsíci +2

      Some might say under $50 are cheap and under $120 are budget. But.... Its relative.. The board itself its beautiful and $150 is fair price
