    I love the belt squat. A game changer if you have back issues. I have the REP belt squat to goes great with my Ares REP rack. I am aware that it is nor Coop’s favorite, but it works for me since I have made modifications. I attached a winch with synthetic line to allow me to start from a standing position like a regular barbell squat would start. The winch pulls the weight stack up for me so i can start at the standing position with my Spud inc belt squat belt. I also use the Rep dip bars so i can lean back to allow different positions similar to a smith machine squat

    Man, I wish I had the space. At 65, I don't love having the bar up on the shoulders. And yet the squat remains such an important exercise. I have never wanted one of the lever type because of that pull forward effect. I want a belt squat to keep from getting hurt, and to my mind that means traveling up and down as vertically as one can. This looks great.

    I'd like to see a comparison of the various belt squats used for multiple lower body exercises. How they compare squatting but also how they compare split squatting (and Bulgarian SS version), box squatting, lunging, hip thrusting and any others you can think of. I don't need a piece of equipment made for the lower body to be leveraged to the upper body but I'd really prefer it be capable of multiple exercises.

    I really enjoy belt squatting and most of my equipment is Titan, but even the rack-mountable version is a lot of 'thing' to store in my single garage bay gym. Not that I blame them, it's exactly what it has to be. But I'll have to stick with my homemade lever belt squat attachment.

    I dont need rhino for versitality just to do leg work since i have 2 buldging disk, rhino so easy to use. I been thinking about selling it and getting squat max md since i already have other cable machines. I hate the top loading in squat max md thats why i went with rhino. This is still my favorite home gym piece of equipment! It feels better than a traditional squat, imo, and can see why Brian Hennessy is so passionate/vocal about his product.
    One thing that wasn't demonstrated on this review was the ability to add resistance bands at the bottom. This is important bc the added tension will destroy your quads and glutes at the top of the movement.

  • @srhyse
    @srhyse Před 10 měsíci +3

    Have mine and love it! Only complaint is that shorter folks might need Brian’s transformer pin from his site for around $35 to hit depth, but that’s a good thing to get anyway if you want to make it more posterior chain focused. Easily the best belt squat on the market.

    • @hitleractually8180
      @hitleractually8180 Před 10 měsíci +1

      Rhino is the best

    • @srhyse
      @srhyse Před 10 měsíci

      @@hitleractually8180 Depends on what you want. If you want the best belt squat and lower body exercise experience with some versatility for rows and other things in a small form factor, it’d be the SquatMax. If you wanted versatility for more things outside of squats, and have a lot more space, that’d be the Rhino. I like the Rhino but a lot of the versatility it can offer is relatively useless in the context of already having a gym and cables. I can do curls and other low pulley things on it, but I also already have a low pulley that’s arguably better at that. The main thing I would use a Rhino for are squats and rows, and you can do the former better on the SquatMax, and you can still do the latter on the SquatMax. Just depends on what you’re after and what other things you have. For the price difference you probably could also buy a cable machine and that being separate alongside the SquatMax would take up about the same space as a Rhino, and you’d have two separate units. You can also roll the SquatMax around.

    • @UnderTheBar
      @UnderTheBar Před 9 měsíci

      What about versatility? Can you use it for SDL or some other variants

    • @srhyse
      @srhyse Před 9 měsíci +1

      @@UnderTheBar Actually yeah. Although Brian sells a deadlift bar on his site for it, it’s just a small straight bar, so any cable attachment type bar will do. Rogue sells a long cable straight bar that’s an Ohio bar turned into a cable attachment if you wanted an actual barbell feel, but anything would be fine. His transformer pin on his site would get the starting point lower if you needed it to be as well. It’s not a low cable like the Rhino, but you can use it as if it were one for a good number of exercises, like bent over rows, deadlift / T bell squat variations, calf raises, hip thrusts, and of course many squat variations. It somewhat defeats the purpose of it being attached to your hips, but if you’ve got the harness for it like one of the ones I got from Spud, you can do front squats on it too. The height of the unit itself is great for high step ups too. You could also attach a straight bar to a chain or strap, and do overhead pressing with it I suppose, though I personally don’t feel the need to try it. That’s pretty versatile if you ask me!
      Brian said Titan’s developing their own attachments kind of like his, so at some point we’ll probably see the chest supported row attachment and things like that as well.

      @UnderTheBar Před 9 měsíci +1

    I have it mounted on solid concrete construction blocks.
    The rack-mountable SquatMax MD doesn't need to be mounted on a power rack or squat stand.
    Stacking four 6" x 8" x 16 solid concrete construction blocks in each corner of the rack-mountable SquatMax MD will suffice.

      @@andreytravkin7579 I forget the exact flash sale price, but it was around $779, and it cost me around $860 total. By the way, I own 7 different ways to do belt squats in my four home gyms. I recommend having more than just the Titan Fitness SquatMax MD to do belt squats with, because as Vladimir Zatsiorsky, the world renowned sport biomechanist, former Soviet Olympic strength and conditioning consultant, and current Emeritus Professor of Kinesiology for Penn State University asserts, strength training exercises and training methods should vary to prevent accommodation, or your body becoming accustomed to the exercise and training method.
      Doing DIY belt squats with different belt squats attachments using different angles offers a different kind of stress to your body. So do traditional belt squats. I like doing belt squats on my SquatMax MD, but I still do belt squats with my other 6 belt squat set-ups, which includes using Black Widow platforms and squat handles on my Titan Fitness T-3 half rack, belt squats on plyo boxes and my Swedish ladder, and even on my Stamina PT 1690 Pull-Up/Dip Station and Everlast Boxing Heavy Bag Stand.

    I have a Rogue Rhino and am considering selling it to get the SquatMax. I used the SquatMax earlier this year and immediately noticed how much better it felt to squat with than the Rhino.
    The Rhino versatility is a bit overrated in my opinion if you already have a decent cable setup. Only issues with the SquatMax is that I wish the rack attached version wasn’t watered down and ceiling height clearance.

      That's interesting. I didn't like the SquatMax much when I tried it for a few sessions. I felt like it was very limiting in foot positioning, and I didn't really notice any positive difference in feel compared to a cable system. I really like adjusting my foot positioning narrow/wide and forward/backward to change the focus of the movement on my Rhino, and I didn't feel like I was able to do that much at all on the SquatMax. Was the design novel and could it be patented? Likely was the case but IMO it's a shady practice to take in a design in its entirety even if it's "fair game" least they could have done was reached out first and credited him with the design which I think he said he'd be okay with. The top of the platform is set at ~20" high on my OG rack mounted Squatmax and I can hit depth easily, so if you have 8 ft ceilings you will have a mimimum of 4" of clearance if you're 6 ft tall, but in practice you'll have even more because you lose height when your feet are in squat position.
      I agree Coop should have included the size dimensions of the two models in his review, but tbf the specs are listed on Titan's website. Space is so important in a home gym tho! That's why I got an OG rack-mounted instead of the OG standalone model. Am jealous of that seat attachment though!

      @@thomaspham-qf4ry New Titan Squat Max. Use box cutters or razer to take off the foam they have on the guide rod then put 7/8" PVC pipe fits perfect and the weight horn moves so smooth up and down. I usually warm up with some regular squats 135x15 185x12 maybe 225 x 10 then do more sets on Squat Max as it doesn't tire back and hips at all actually makes back feel great like hanging from pullup bar does. I go heavy then next leg day or two if still sore lift a lot lighter and more sets more reps. Seems to work every two weeks adding 10lbs to squat max up to 250lbs for 10 reps and started at 120lbs its MUCH harder than regular squats the inventor claims 2x as hard. All I know is my quads have blown up about 2.5 inches in 4 months. I'll probably max out at 300lbs or 325 don't want legs so big I need to order special jeans/pants and if I went over 350lbs normal pants wouldn't fit for sure!

      I have the same concern. With the rack mounted version, looks to not be a problem but with the standalone, that crossbar that titan has modified looks to take some range away. THe original was just flat. I think most here would say to use the carabiner on higher loops on the belt.

Their machines are made in China. When I got the machine I was wondering how the welds would be. People where commenting how bad the welds were on equipment coming from Titan and others from China. The welds on this thing are, in my opinion perfect. I also purchased their preacher curl machine. The welds are the same. Hey Coop see if you can do some reviews on Syedee, fitness machines.
