  • In this video I take a look at the Nissan Elgrand E51 from a U.K customer's perspective. The U.K imports many of these every year from Japan but I didn't find many videos talking about import cars the way I wanted to see them.
Keep an eye for my follow up on the Elgrand E50 and I'm also trying to get information together to make a Elgrand history video.

I was asked last night about the catalytic converter issues on the E51 and thought I'd best say something about it. Yes the Back CATs are a problem and it's a good idea to get them De-Cored as you really only need the front ones for U.K emissions laws. Should you decide to get a custom stainless made with Hi-Flow CATs in it, this would obviously fix the problem too. The 3.5 sounds great with a custom exhaust system ;-) Hopefully this helps potential buyers.
As I mentioned, the Elgrand OC is a great forum if you want to know more about these MPVs.

Only down side is that you get really bad mpg with the rear cats removed. I got 13-16mpg 🙁

    • @legopepsi
      @legopepsi Před 3 lety +4

The front cats are the issue, not the rears! If you're going to review a car, get the facts right!

@@legopepsi you are right. It is the front ones. Not sure what I was thinking there because I had mine done. Thanks for the correction.

Good honest review......great info......but as this looks like a basic model, it is worth looking at a higher spec. But was surprised by the price. I thought it would be more, but great because it gives me a starting point. Thanks a ton!.

I'm getting better with every video I've made. This is my first one. The latest upload is a Nissan Cube and our next one is the Porte I mentioned the latest VLOG. I will be doing a video comparing this E51 Highay Star 2.5 to an XL 3.5. I have not done any filming on that one yet so I'm sorry I can't give you anyone a timescale on that.

Nice video, very helpful. I bought a 1999 mitsubishi delica l400 about 9 years ago, and am just looking for a replacement.
Nice to see the seating design is the same on the Elgrand. Something sorely missing in the likes of the Galaxy or even Caravelle. What's the point in having all that space if you can't get a full size plasterboard in the back, or do a run to the tip? With the Deli or Elgrand you can use it as a van one day and a people carrier the next (after a good sweep out).
I might buy one and convert to lpg. I guess there will be room under the chassis for a spare wheel tank.

we had a royal exceed lwb deli and are looking to replace it with a el grand. Did you buy one and how is it going?

  • @tauttechminusmanagedmusic3778

The indicators are where they should be :) My 3.5 gets up to 60 in 9 seconds.

I'm looking to buy one of these this week. I'm Co cerned about the 8th seat not having much room in the back so you know how this seating lay out works as from the photos of the one I'm possibly buying it looks like someone has to sit uncomfy between a fold

I would prefer to have only 1 side with the electric sliding door. Because if the electrics stuff up, you can use the other door without issue.

Well the Nissan Titan has 14 cupholders... and 5 seats. 😁
Well the minidisc player isn´t outdated I´d say. It´s just one of those formats that were popular in Japan but nearly nowhere else.

If u still read your comments....please could u help?...im thinking of buying and e50 1998 ...looks spotless with 39000 miles and history ..it has a 3.3 engine ....is this a v6?...is it powerful enough to enjoy putting my foot down every now and again? And is this a good van i need to use it for the odd overnight stay, a few times a week around town, and longer journeys to cricket matches up and down the country... I want it to be nice to drive and powerful enough...and to last me ....its a bit overpriced I know that but it really is in mint condition its the 4wd caravan edition, with cloth spongy seats....I really like the weird look but I would like to know if u think this is a good buy....I used to nave a mazda bongo and loved that...any advice you could offer would be appreciated 😀

DCY Europe originally brought this one into the UK for me. I've recently had an Odyssey brought in by David at DR Kuruma based in Moray. It might be worth looking him up. I'll be posting links to his fb and website in an upcoming video on the Odyssey MK3. I'm hoping to have the only 3 odysseys in Inverness there for filming.
