Actually it’s quite interesting that fish don’t seem to be as effected as land animals in Chernobyl- there was a fishing expert that went there (they only allowed him to fish as they wanted a specific fish for their scientists to look at- otherwise fishing is strictly prohibited) and all the fish he caught appeared normal from all the cooling “ponds” and at one pond his radiation meter started going nuts 🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️ I’m sure the fish are highly radioactive though

I grew up going to Radium Springs in the 1960s and 70s....it was awesome on hot summer days. I was just telling my grandson about my springs when I saw the stonework and knew you were there. Thanks so much for exploring a place that brings back so many wonderful memories!

Honestly, I bet DALLMYD could find a new species of fish with what he’s doing. (Scuba Diving, Snorkeling, etc.)
It’s really cool to watch these videos and see what he sees. Some people, like me, might never get to do this.
It’s also nice to see that, even in Times Like this, he is doing these cool things, and filming it for us to enjoy. He also picks up trash, making it even better.

Yeah, that's true he might come across a new species, and its good that he is doing this too, cos not everyday you see someone helping to make rivers safe (and to find peoples stuff and return it to them) plus, its an amazing experience. Every time he looked over there, I kept thinking to myself, there is going to be something that swims so fast out of there.
One time I was in a river with my dad and at the time we didn’t know that there were alligators so we started swimming and one almost got my leg I was scared shitless and that’s why now i will not ever go swimming in open water other than pools because shit can be really dangerous under there

This is my home town and I still live in the area. It was open for swimming and diving back in the 90’s, until the flood of ‘94. There used to be a dive shop right across the street from the spring. It was a tourist hot spot starting back in the 20’s all the way up until they tore down the Casino that was on the property. I had my high school senior pictures taken there as well. So it’s not as abandoned as you would think! I do wish they would reopen it from diving and swimming again but unfortunately the county leadership isn’t that forward thinking.

I used to swim at Radium Springs, back in the 60's & 70's. Just behind you, there was located a diving board positioned just over the entrance to the underwater cave. The water was ice cold and there were numerous little springs, all along the sandy bottom. Native Americans claimed that the spring had healing powers. Many decades ago, several divers had attempted to explore the cave, but lost their lives, so the cave entrance is barricaded. In the early 1900's, there used to be the Radium Springs Casino, adjacent to the springs, before it was destroyed by fire.

There’s a way to compliment someone without bringing down people who are trying to protect themselves. Not to mention their career and how they make their money. You know, instead of arguing, you could not. And instead of talking about youtubers and how they are protecting themselves, you could think about the NHS, other healthcare things, police etc. Cos they are the ones who really need protecting right now. As well as the people who are ill. I'm sorry, but my parents both work for the NHS (my dad is a paramedic, and my mum is a dispatcher, she tells the ambulances where to go, so with out them, no ambulances would be able to know where to go to help people) so, I hate to see people arguing about this stuff, when people out there just doing their job, are at risk!

Wish I had known you were here I could of taken you to some private land springs to dive and showed you around town. The spring was not closed to swimming bc of the radium, the radium was actually a selling point in swimming there. After the casino burnt down it became a liability to swim and also endangered mollusks were found in the slough. I've spent my life on this part of the river and it's one if my favorite spots.

Radium springs used to have a casino and was open to the public until the 90s. Two major floods destroyed the casino and the rest of the repairs needed are too costly. The park is still open every day, I've even been to a few weddings there. The water however, is off limits ):

Hey. Just come across this video. Radium Springs is twenty two miles from where I live. I remember going there when I was younger. It was a great place to go. Glad to see you near my home town. I enjoy watching your videos! Have you gone to the Riverfront Park in Albany to dive? I'm sure there's a lot to be found there. Unfortunately Albany Georgia has daily shootings. Stay safe out there.
