That thick sand line you crossed was a fire barrier line.Im watching this video in 2021 and recently a 9foot rattlesnake was filmed crossing a road in that area!It's rattles was about 6 inches long When I camp down south I always made sure I was camped by a big tree I could climb to escape pigs!

Not at all. Plenty of trees. We did see a lot of bear sign but never saw one
