  • Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be a Freemason? You may know it’s the oldest and largest fraternity in the world, but wonder what secrets lie behind a clouded veil of mystery.
If this is your perception, you’re not alone. But in reality, Freemasonry is alive and well, and its members are willing to speak openly about how it influences their lives, their families, and their communities. We recently interviewed some Brothers from Pennsylvania about their experiences as part of the fraternity.

I grew up on the grounds of the Masonic Village (then called the Masonic Homes) in Elizabethtown, PA. Now that I have surrendered my life to Jesus Christ I realize the teachings of Freemasonry do not align with my beliefs.

And the church's all have a history of covering up child abuse by its elders and priests so what's your point exactly? There will always be bad eggs in every basket no matter if the where masonic regalia or church regalia or a police uniform ect ect ect.... having a go at masons while ignoring what's going on in your own back yard hmmm

I now I first have to get my act together and quit my drinking while grounding myself. I truly love people and long to give back as my family has funded me and my rent. I want to be self reliant and become a Mason if they do truly help others and the community. I’m pretty sure that’s all I want. “If you say you want to do something and actually do something then do it” I’v been slowly building my will power back from scratch. I am going to join. I want to better myself, but just has strongly want a sense of helping others aswell.

Freemasonry is a brotherhood of men who share one common goal: To help each other become better men. It is the oldest, largest and most widely known fraternal organization in the world. Men from all different backgrounds and walks of life come together as equals and improve their character by applying the timeless virtues of brotherly love, charity and truth to their everyday lives.

@Heartless Generally, no. However, there can be some extenuating circumstances, such as if just did something stupid as a kid AND have lead a good life since. It is UNLIKELY your application would be successful, though. You'd need to apply to your local Lodge and tell them all the circumstances. It's then up to them to decide if you qualify, or if your conviction is of such a magnitude that your application cannot go proceed.
