      Suppose I'm investing for 1 year and have checked a mutual fund company
      Taking one time investment as 5K and expected return is 7720
      Taking sip 500 per month resulting in 6000 year with return of 7730 expected !
      So I've already paid 1000 more so if somehow I've gained more units in sip I'm already in a loss of 1000 , moreover expected outcome is also low !

    Track the NAV of your shares for 1 year.
    Whenever the NAV is low...invest lumsum in the same mutual fund.

    Many Mutual fund investment advisers avoid to talk about the risk of lumpsum investment. I was one of the victims, in 2017 invested in midcap and small cap funds until 2020 I saw only capital erosion. I did this only Because of one reason that My advisor recommended to invest lumpsom when the market was in its high. I was the looser. But you have given the right suggestion. can you please explain more f possible.

    • @Manu-tf9cu
      @Manu-tf9cu Před 2 lety +9

      @@aileen8492 Because you invest SIPS one after the other in smaller amounts compared to one big lumpsum amount. Sure, they are good for averaging market fluctuations, but in longer periods lumpsum investment in good funds will give better returns.
      For example, if you invest 60k in Jan 2021 and observe its profit in Jan 2022, it will be larger than what you would get through an SIP of 5k each month in same period (same amount of 60k invested as 12 5k SIPs). This is because only one SIP (Jan) has completed 12 months of invested growth, the next one only 11 months, then next one 10 months, so on and so forth with the December one having completed just one month of growth. In contrast, the 60k lumpsum has had a full year to reap the benefits.
      In my personal case, a lumpsum of 10 lakhs in 2017 in a pretty average fund has given close to 18 lakhs till Jan this year. I hope this clears your doubt.

    • @Manu-tf9cu
      @Manu-tf9cu Před 2 lety +3

      Just as market fluctuations average out, your prospective returns too average out when you invest in SIPs. So that's one good factor to keep in mind.
      The trick to using lumpsum investments to your advantage is to make sure you are not investing in in the fund when the NAV is at an all-time high. Or make sure the fund will grow reasonably well over the next 3 to 5 years even if you are putting the money in at a high NAV. :)

    By investing in SIP, are we not losing the returns. For example a unit bought in the first month will have accumulated some returns by the end of the 12th month, compared to units bought in the 12th month. I am a beginner, can someone please clarify ??

    • @Manu-tf9cu
      @Manu-tf9cu Před 2 lety +1

      Yup. You are right. While SIPs average out market fluctuations, it also averages out your returns, because your first SIP would have remained invested for a much longer period than your last invested one. On the other hand, if you are able to do lumpsum investment at a low NAV of the mutual fund, or if you are sure that your fund will reasonably grow in the long term of say three to five years, then you will get better returns with a lumpsum

    Ours is a bullish market and SIPs for a longer period of time will give you very less returns. In lump sump, even if you buy at an average price, after a five years of period you will get good amount of returns provided you in a good ELSS mutual fund at once. Just check all the mutual funds in the last 5-6 years, NAVs of all of then rose steadily, except few like Nippon India etc.
    So for a long term wise decision is to invest lump sump. SIPs will give poor return for a longer period of time in a bullish market as your average cost price will keep on rising YoY.

    • @sagarmistry5920
      @sagarmistry5920 Před 3 lety +75

      Because lumpsum invested upfront earns more returns. For example if you're going to get 1% on your investment, if you invest 100 rs a month , you'll get 1 re only in the first month, and on the next month you'll be earning on 100+101 , but if your invest the completed 1200 rs in the first month itself you'll get 12 rs, and then in the next month more return on 1212 rs. That's one way where lumpsum earns more than an SIP.

    Lower/Higher NAV ki baat galat batayi.
    Example:
    Agar ek MF ki NAV 3 he, aur usme invest karte he toh apna pesa double hoga jab NAV 6 hogi, a difference of 3.
    Aur agar MF ki NAV 100 he, aur usme invest karte he toh apna pesa double hoga jab NAV 200 hogi, a difference of 100.
    NAV to increase by 3 is very much likely compared to NAV increasing by 100. Don't be fooled by % age increase of NAV. In both the above cases, NAV increased by 100% yes. But take a look at any funds history, you will see that their NAVs increase fast from 1 to 50, then the NAV increases very slowly. So, guys pick funds to invest at lower NAVs, but promising growth (Picking is up to you 😉)

      Absolutely not
      Lumsum gives high returns as compared to SIP
      Lumsum should be considered for short term financial support
      SIP is beneficial for long term 15 to 20 years.
      Lumpsum can be good deal if u are buying new bike or new car in a span of time. For eg. Invest in lumsum in desired mutual for couple of years and when u check ur principle amount it's almost more than half. This is good way to buy expensive things.
      It's my opinion
