Macau 2015 | Peter Hickman First Win!

- This was my first ever race at the Macau Grand Prix!
I went in 2014, but due to an engine issue, I crashed in practice and was unable to race.
Here's some info on the video for you:
Approaching the start, I deliberately turn the engine off at 0:30 and coast to the line. I did this as in Macau due to the humidity and heat the engine temperature was already quite high, so I just gave it a few extra seconds off to try and keep it as cool as possible. The ideal engine temp is around 70-75 degrees and it was already at 85ish!
The lights normally turn on for between 2 and 5 secs - but not today!! They were on and off very fast and I get a bad start as wasn't expecting it! 0:57
Chasing Rutter and Jessopp 1:19 and breaking away from Hutchy.
Martin Jessopp gets away really well - whatever tyres he has on are ready from the off and he has his head down making a break for it. 2:10
Whereas I am more cautious during the first lap, making sure I get the front tyre up to full working temperature, which is very important.
My confidence at the start of lap two in the Dunlop tyres is now 100% so I have to start catching Jessopp! If he manages to extend the gap anymore it will be difficult to get back! He already has 2 seconds on me!
5:31 Not helping myself when I reach the hairpin and miss a gear - but head down and keep chipping away! Even us pro's make mistakes sometimes!
We skip some laps between 3 and 8 as there's no overtaking, just me slowly closing down Martin.
I finally get close to Jessopp around lap 8 6:20 and he knows I'm getting near. My @DunlopTyresUK tyres are working perfectly and my confidence is growing all the time. 6:53
I pass him on lap 9 9:00 and pull out a good gap, going onto the last lap 11:27 was a 4.5-sec lead and at the end, it was 6.52 seconds.
I end the race with a mint stand-up wheelie over the line!!

Congrats Hicky on an excellent ride! Got a video of King Kenny Roberts missing gears so it happens to everyone. Years ago Kawasaki attempted to solve the problem with a five up gear pattern on their two stroke triples. It did fix the first to second false neutral up shift problem but caused issues if the rider was not keeping track of his downshifts and possibly entering a corner free wheeling. A free wheeling bike does not want to turn, not a fun deal. Aprilia has the best idea, what they call a no neutral gearbox. Neutral at the bottom like Kawasaki did decades ago (or top if you're GP shift) but only accessible by pushing a bar mounted button. Awesome idea, no more missed shifts or getting neutral when you don't want it.

That place is nuts! Doesn't look very spectator friendly though. I'd be interested to hear some stories from the riders about what the Macau nightlife is like. Surely everybody heads into town after the last race??

In French they're not many for this Honda year model, it's SC59 type
