Exploring the World of Plants and Fungi
I love getting into the holiday spirit by kissing my tape worm under the mistletoe.
😘😘
@@animalogic hello so it's my first time being on your video thanks for the information I only have a fake mistletoe so
This must be one of the best comments I ever read before watching a video, the only better comment would be a picture
😨 game over
I studied A-level with my partner under the mistletoe.
If I walked out of my house and saw Mistletoe growing on a tree, my first thought would be, "Who would be that dumb to plant that tree in Phoenix?"
Alfred Hitchcock would have the answer
Mother nature when people are living in Phoenix Arizona 🤣
So amazing at subverting expectations.
@@Donnerjkks Pretty sure any tree capable of supporting mistletoe is 1. Not native to the Sonoran Desert, 2. Able to grow in the Sonoran Desert without "Man's Help and Intervention", and 3. Put here by Mother Nature.
😂
"I'm like a bird, I'm gonna fly away, I don't have a cloacha." Nearly killed me, thank you for that.
The explosive varieties should've been called missile-toe
"Your mistletoe is no match for my TOW-missile!"
From the episode of Futurama first featuring Robot Santa XD
IF ATHLETES GET ATHLETES FOOT, WHAT DO ASTRONAUTS GET?
MISSILE TOE!
Mistletoe is like a slime of science fiction and anime, they look the same, they are sticky, and their abilities vary according to what they eat... fascinating.
For all the holiday repetition, I have never once in my life seen a real and alive mistletoe. I'll be keeping an eye out now!
In the States I never saw them in the Northern Midwest, but I see them a lot down in Southern Appalachia.
Toxic Christmas Parasite sounds like a great name for a rock band.
also sounds like my in-laws
The extra outtakes are the best gift! Thank you Tasha and the animalogic team!
Same thoughts here!
I did encounter the pine mistletoe. It smelled like a mixture of maple syrup and mushrooms.
Enjoy the smell of mushrooms, enjoy the smell of maple. Unsure how these two components would blend.
@@Gildedmuse sweet and sour mushroom stir fry?
Desert mistletoe has edible fruit; when growing on mesquite, ironwood, and catclaw acacia. Phoradendron californicum. Obviously from it’s Latin name, it’s native to the deserts of California, Nevada, Arizona, and the deserts of northwestern Mexico; i.e. the Sonoran desert.
Ah mistletoe. My favorite Christmas parasite. And Animalogic my favorite CZcams channel for all things plant and animal related!
If they're explosive maybe we should start calling it missiletoe.
really is almost a guarantee that everywhere you see a mistletoe you are also seeing a bird toilet
Romantic!
I love that Tasha is the host for Floralogic. For one, I'm a plant person so I don't miss a video and two, Tasha is the host with the most. I love the crazy funny bloopers at the end. Happy Holidays!
Omg that first blooper killed me 🤣 didn't even know what she was saying. It was fun learning about this plant too.
The second one killed me
I was today years old when I found out Tasha The Amazon is a singer!
That blooper reel ending was the best Christmas gift this year 🤣🤣🤣🤣😭😭😭💀💀💀
Literally work in Sandlwood farming and had no clue that mistletoe was in the same family
Loved the bloopers. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to the entire team of the channel. Congrats to all for the beautiful content you produce.
No wonder Freya said that Mistletoe were a wicked plant!! 😅
"Mistletoe can be deadly if you eat it, but a kiss is even deadlier if you mean it"
😘
Botany, zoology, history, anthropology and humor along with great images that compliment the synthesis of ideas that you present so clearly, makes your vids a joy to watch. (Try to say that in one breath!)
The South American cactus mistletoe is the stuff of nightmares. Plant body horror.
Animal Logic is one of the best channels on youtube lol. Romanticizing the bird's cloaca lmao
Loved the extra long blooper segment ❤
I love this. Also, it would be hilarious to find out that mistletoe was used as a male contraceptive back in the day.
Love the HatTasha! As per Streisand may all your horses be merry this holiday season!
"The course of love never did run smooth" - Shakespeare
"Think of the romantic journey it took from a bird's cloaca." - Tosha the Amazon
I like your quote better.
So glad we never did the mistletoe thing. I realized as a teen how weird and uncomfortable the whole thing is.
I love Christmas, the mistletoe just isn't included.
Ah, yes, the Christmas decoration we used to obtain by _shooting it out of trees with a high-powered rifle._
That's so interesting, especially when we think about things that are so common in our daily life and traditions! Our crew recently recorded a project that aims to fight a virus that is affecting a basic part of our eating habits. A banana pandemic is going on, a virus that's basically killing the banana that many are used to consuming throughout Europe and North America. We're curious to see what's going to be the outcome of this project and what type of banana we will be consuming in the future.
It's a fungus called Panama disease, similar to potato blight.
We have multiple varieties of potato in common use but only one variety of banana appears on store shelves.
Promoting a more resistant alternative cultivar is what should be done.
It's practically impossible to get rid of either fungus so getting disease resistant cultivars has been the only viable option unless you want to grow it in a green house which might protect it from the fungus an ideal location for this would be an area subject to urban decay and deindustrialization as agricultural areas have more crop diseases.
@@michaelcross4112 is that the one that causes a banana to go black in the middle and kinda explode all squishy?
It's been too long since I watched the banana video. Although I am eating a banana in my cereal right now.
That episode made me laugh so much. Thanks for the joy and knowledge! Happy and healthy 2023.
And to think, people find this romantic. Merry Christmas.
Romance is messy, occasionally toxic, potentially deadly, and can be indicative of a healthy bird population. It seems to fit.
I love how clowny she is. Extra bloopers, extra awesome!!
The oak trees at my grandparents' house in Texas are riddled with mistletoe
XD as always, love the fun informative video - but omg the bloopers are just top notch in this one!
Very familiar with dotter in wetlands. Didn't know mistletoe was semi parasitic in nature.
Lystrosaurus: supposedly this dicynodont survived the Great Dying and was extremely common in Triassic fossil beds. Were they really that common in Pangaea, or were they just really bad at decomposing?
Christmas does use an odd array of toxic plants, but during winter, you can't be too picky regarding your foliage. Frozen cabbages make more sense, but aren't as showy.
Lystros also help your other dinos level up faster, some sources say. ;)
It freaks me out and also fascinates me to learn about plants and fungi that can/will communicate with each other, especially in scenarios where they're actively working together to manipulate their environment.
You're truly never alone in nature!
Before I even $tart thi$. I already Kant wait for Ta$ha'$ Out taKe$ frf 🤣🤣🤣
After a 12 hour drive this really cheered me up! Thanks Tasha. Merry Christmas ❤
I love the extra bloopers. 🤣
Tasha you're too cute 😂🥰 had me chuckling at the bloopers
Straight outta cloaca
Tasha has the best bloopers, A+
I love the madagascar palm with baubles on it! I have some pachypodium seeds ready to go for planting soon!
Thank you for all the great bloopers! Happy Holidays!
Words are hard, Tasha, the bloopers are just as fact-fun as the rest of the episode !
Myrrh! 😄 It has an interesting choice of living place and no doubt an interesting set of adaptations - and interesting psychoactive effects and cultural history
Great episode for someone like me who's doing research druids and on such a niche plant with a rich history. Thank you so much!
I’m so glad you talked about the Norse myth!! (I’m a norse pagan 💜)
For World of Birds, you can do the mistle thrush.
I love Tasha the Amazon! Happy holidays to the entire Floralogic family! You’re all amazing!
Happy Holidays Tasha🎄🎅🤶 and crew
The bloopers are my holiday gifts from y’all 🙂
~_~
Happy Holidays, Tasha! Thank you for another wonderful episode!
Ha frikken love Tasha
So interesting, and the outtakes were adorable! Thank you so much for producing such great content! Wishing a happy holiday to you and yours
Terrific episode! Great outtakes too!
I love the ending of these videos
Merry Christmas, Tasha! Also everyone else!
Thank you for this episode and Merry Christmas!!
Please do something on cuetlaxochitl, aka poinsettia! It's got a way more interesting history than people would think
Love learning new things. I especially love your [Tasha the Amazon] sense of Humour!!!
Tasha, i wish you did an episode everyday :)
We grow chestnuts on our little farm. Went to visit the in laws and saw mistletoe growing wild and the urge to take some material and bring it home was there, but I think it would actually end up being a problem more than a novelty in the orchards.
Thanks for the info. Fascinating that it contains chemicals of the host plant. While it may seem to make common sense, it's not a simple thing.
Let's say they find a use for high blood pressure. Then, the question becomes on which host tree do you cultivate your mistletoe to get the added benefit of some second substance, or a clean form from a host tree that has nothing to add when tested.
Please talk about phantom orchids next please!
Awesome video. Always learning something!
Thank you, the Norse story is what led me to you, such a great job!
"Womp womp" 🤣 Love this show!
I learned so much! thanks!
She is so funny. I needed that today. Thank u.
Mistletoe: exists
Baldur: “Ha Ha, I’m in danger!”
Por fin 💚💚💚💚 Saludos desde Costa Rica love your videos
Love Floralogic 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
The bloopers! Tasha, u're a total ham. 😆😆😆
Why aren't birds affected by mistletoe berries?
It's common for a lot of poisonous species evolve along side either a pollinator or seed spreader, and the second species develops resistances to the poisons. And it's only SOME species. Don't feed this to your parakeets or chickens. It'll definitely kill them.
Merry Christmas
That Madagascar palm though 🤤 mine is just coming out of dormancy 😍 love your videos ♥️
Golly I love these blooper reels 🤩
Lol your so broken. I love it. Stay adorable.
You make learning fun My Dear - Thank you.
Hi! I would love to see an episode about Jabuticaba tree (Plinia cauliflora). It's a Brazilian tree that grows it's berries on the trunk
Happy Christmas guys, I love you all 🤶
I live for Tasha's outtakes at the end of these😂
"A Toxic Christmas Parasite"?
You mean my mother-in-law?
Just joking.
I don't have one.
neato episode, i'm so glad we got tasha doing a plant show, it's been great. mebbe put floralogic in the titles tho?
Very cute bloopers 🎉
Great video 👏🏻 I never knew what mistletoe translated as 🤭 and I've never heard of some of the other varieties 🤯 I did hear some time ago that some are edible to humans and that some countries even have recipes.
A 2022 compilation of outtakes would be amazing
7:39 "Lemme tell ya bout MISTLETOE!" lol
The mistletoe is like that one roommate who is really annoying to live with but they are a great person so you don't want to kick them out
It’s about time! What a girl gotta do to get some content 😂😅❤
Happy Holidays Tasha.
I’m so mindblown right now
Cool video!
love how a third of this video is bloopers
I'd love to see a Floralogic about the Kola Nut!!
The bloopers are making me laugh
