speaking of symbolism of little nightmares, I think (at least for the 2nd game) this could easily be a simple experience in the eyes of a child. I say this because of what each boss is and how they all have a simple connection to each other, they all are things we see or have seen on a normal basis.
The child we speak of would have to be the overimaginative, yet well-behaved child. This is because the child (who from now on is known as Mono cuz lazy) sees things as if they were nightmare fuel. The hunter could easily be an innocent who lives in his shed that hunts deer, but the eyes of Mono could be seen as a series killer. The teacher could be how extremely strict teachers with a less than zero expectation level could easily scare a kid like Mono. I mean, I'm still scared of them to this day. The bullies could be seen as rapid animals because, as a behaved kid or a bullied kid, these children could be seen as savage creatures because they don't know how to be quiet or listen when told. Moving on from the school, the doctor. The doctor can also be perseved by nightmare fuel. Instead of being a decent guy trying to give you a shot, a child could see one as a madman who grotesquely rips apart anyone who dare enter his office. The viewers, people who stare at the TV, can be seen as parents or adults who are couch potatoes. These people have sat in one spot watching a show all day that the child seeing would only be able to imagine the lengths they would go if that Tele was shut off. The thin man may be a bit of stretch, but hear me out. The thin man would be a legend towards the young and impressionable mind of a child. Told that if you watch too much TV, you could meet the thin man, a monster who will suck you in.
This Theory isnt limited to the main characters either. The family in the hunters bouse could be a message of how painfully long dinnertime can be, and the piled up dishes could be a sign of an exagerrated chore. The drop/betrayel at the end could be an exaggeration of how painful a betrayel from your childhood friend could be. The key inside of a tory, the excessive need for a stool or chair to open a door, even how big and unbelieving each stage in the game can be, all exaggerations of an imaginative child.

I’m starting to think these games are about society’s addictions to things. Think about it, 1st game the people were addicted to food and the woman seemed to be addicted to her beauty/ self esteem. In this game, it seems the people are addicted to television. In both games it’s like everyone is holding onto things they can’t let go, for example, like their jobs(teacher/doctor and etc.). This causes their addictions to get out of control. Maybe everyone goes insane about catching the little people, who seem to have powers, because they feel that if they had their power, they could be normal again and get rid of their addictions. Maybe it’s called little nightmares because it’s the side of all of us that is obsessive over certain things. And the little bit of light that is still left inside, is something we crave for. Idk, just some thoughts and recognitions. Definitely some holes in their but lmk what y’all think. And I believe Cory is onto something as well. God Bless y’all.

Ok so I know I'm 3yrs late on my theory but here goes..the first battle was the hunter..he sets all these traps trying to get his "trophy". He is so infatuated with the hunt he doesn't notice everything around him is already dead..yet he continues to stay on the hunt even if it means killing or destroying everything around him. The next fight is with the teacher and the kids. This shows how hurtful and destructive we are to one another. The kids hurt one another and the teacher encourages it. She manipulates the kids and in turn they manipulate each other. It shows how impressionable mankind can be.all the kids wear the same mask..and some don't even have a head or brain at all..like leading the sheep to slaughter..they are being controlled and don't even know it. The 3rd battle is with the doctor and mannequins. The mannequins are also being controlled. They go under the knife to be something other than themselves bc of insecurities and a way of escaping reality. But actually they are slowly killing themselves to be like the masses. The doctor represents the true identity of those who are not happy with themselves..unhealthy..alone..depressed..and ultimately hypocrisy. Lastly the tvs which represents the media..society..and those who are being brainwashed by what they see. They literally would jump off a bridge bc the person next to them did. People naturally want to feel like they belong and are not an outsider. But at what cost? Losing your own ideas..not being able to make your own choices..allowing society to brainwash and control their true selves. All because of their own self doubt and desire to be like who they see on TV..and before they know it they don't even recognize themselves anymore. The thin man is your fear. Fear of being left alone(when Sasha drops Mano) the fear of failure..fear can destroy u or mold u..escaping reality is a way if not dealing with ur emotions or inner demons .and thst alone will destroy you

Cory's theory is kinda right (in my head). Based on the title of the game, "Little Nightmares" It might be referring to your nightmares as a kid, and how they'd seem with a big imagination. For example, the first scenario, like Cory said, staying up past curfew and getting caught, then the school, (as in you hate going to school) then the doctor, when the doctor would be scary for you as a kid knowing there's needles and such, then the TV one. The one where he mentions CBS may be him joking around because it includes watching the news and an eyeball, but maybe this tv scenario might be you wanting attention from your parents, but your parents are always watching the news and if you interrupted them, they'd get mad at you. Or maybe what Cory said was all a joke and maybe I'm just missing the joke but yeah that's what I've been thinking
