- All of us have always been very well versed with the male villains of DC Comics. Well, now it is time to talk about a rather ruthless female villain whose name suggests otherwise. Created by the comic legend Jack Kirby, Granny Goodness is a DC Comics supervillain who is modeled after the American Stand-up comedian Phyllis Diller. Well, do not let this villain’s name deceive you about who she really is.
Unlike your favorite Granny at home, she is not going to cook food for you or give you some pocket money. She is here to ruin your day in the most disastrous way possible. Granny Goodness made her first appearance in the second issue of Mister Miracle in May 1971. She is the head of the Female Furies and Darkseid's loyal servant. Although proving her loyalty to the leader of Apokolips did not come at a low cost. She was forced to make a decision that probably altered her mind forever. Well, let us find out about her journey to becoming the evil villain that she is.

A perfect example of how strong she is is when she brainwashed all the teens in metropolis to become her personal army and is took the combined effort of superman super girl and Jimmy Olson another is how she made the entire world believe she was a kindly old women who ran a tv and toy company while building an army of meta humans under the guise of helping the reach all part of being members of the light on young justice
I didn't care for granny much when I was younger as I thought she was just silly but now as an adult she is totally scary and that's the point which was amazing I see. Now she is a more interesting villain to see come with darkseid

Asner’s voice for Granny Goodness is THE best version. It’s likely a lovely chain smoker grandma who is trying to be sweet.
The Young Justice voice just sounds TOO sweet most of the time and does not match the character.

Yeah Ed Asner's voice for Granny Goodness is the standard for me, his voice brought a uniqueness to the character, it fit very well.
Whoever thought of Ed Asner for the voice of Granny Goodness was brilliant. I'll bet Asner had a great time voicing this evil grandmother.
I think her Hollywood producer guise was her most terrifying one. She seemed to have a natural talent for television production, and she Really enjoyed her job.

Didn't like that comic about Darkseid being afraid cause it affects his character but Granny creeped me out as a kid when I first saw her in JLU. Now as an adult, she terrifies me. Shes on my list of scary female villains along with Pamela Isley, Hera(Greek Mythology), Flashpoint Wonder Woman, Superwoman (Earth 3/Evil Wonderwoman), Carmilla (Castlevania), and Talia al Ghul.

So she could get Supes to lobotomized me, or someone to fuck up my insides. Or she can blow her pheromones on me and I slowly turn into a plant monster. And being a possible candidate for the guardian of the Green, the lady is on par with swamp thing.
A lot of this has absolutely nothing to do with what Jack Kirby created! Granny Goodness and the Female Furies should be the main villains in the next Wonder Woman movie!
What a nasty piece of work ! I wonder how she and the "Scarecrow " of Batman should work together? Both are insane psychopaths and would blend their lust for controlling others seamlessly ;unless one turned on the other of course !! Haven't kept up with DCU in quite sometime , and got tired of the Crisis Series after reading the first one. Still got most of Kirby's original comics though. I would love to see his New Gods brought to the big screen in someday!
I liked the whole video because I've been a fan of NEW GODS since I was 10 years old back in 71' and I knew next to nothing about Granny Goodness outside of her training Darkseid's troops and the Female Furies.
The new gods should be a movie I want a live action of the source wall

I still struggle to take Granny Goodness seriously. Sure, she's tough, deadly and treacherous...but that name never strucked fear into me. Maybe Mother Mayhem? I'm not sure, lol!

How could anyone take the ridiculous logic seriously? Her trainer and dog are assets to Darkseid along with herself. Both her trainer and Darkseid wants her to kill her dog, yet she retaliates by killing only the trainer. The more you think about it the dumber it gets.

It's a psychological brainwashing tactic to call herself Granny Goodness.
When she was younger, she was a 6"0 tall, muscle bound, monster of a warrior woman and by her fearsome personality, frighteningly aged appearance, and harsh voice this visually would betray how un-motherly and unqualified she is to be around children.
However she tricks and manipulates by speaking and using typical cliche maternal words and phrases that everyone associates mentally with caregivers and grandmothers while torturing and abusing her hostages and kidnapped children she calls orphans. She's probably the wickedest actual DC female supervillain for that alone.
Mother Mayhem would make sense if Big Barda or Stompa replaced her but "Goodness", which she is entirely deprived of, fits this gruesome general masquerading as a gentle grandmother.
Very interesting character. I really wasn’t prepared for the beatdown she gave Beast Boy in Young Justice but that whole chain of events really opened my eyes to her.

If they stop aging at 30 why did she get so Old? That is What I have been trying to figure out since the beginning of this video. I always assumed she was born looking old since she is a new god. But when I saw her looking like a young bald black woman I was like how did she turn into an old white woman if she is immortal?

It's a crap storyline that was supposed to be Female Inequality in Hell... I'm serious. The tried to explore Inequality in a realm that was literally an analog for Hell. Where there are no good people and subservience is your life.

In the first comics where she was presented, Granny Goodness's "scepter" look like a.... well.... and object that some lonely women used to keep, and that required batteries. I know it was a joke by Kirby... but when I first saw that I was like "wow... that's not even subtle.".
