Retinoscopy - she's looking at the way her light shines on his eyes. Depending on whether the reflection moves the same way as she moves the light or against, she can determine whether to add plus or minus power (that's the part where he was behind the phoroptor and she was shining through it).

She's looking for a muscle imbalance, with both eyes open you might not see it, but when each eye is occluded, it's more noticeable. There is a small movement when she moves the occluded from right to left.
I have to go to the eye doctor tmrw because I went to get new glasses since mine are not my exact type. I got them two years ago and my left eye was 150 and now is 375 so I'm going to see if I'm ok or not and I'm scared
When I was 5 and did my first eye exam it was the same as an adult one, I have to see letters, not a cartoon xD and said if I see blur or not and be the more specific I can.
Arjan AD Someone already answered you, but I wanted to say an ophthalmologist is a medical doctor who performs eye surgery, that's the biggest difference between the two professions. Optometrists these days can manage many different eye diseases in collaboration with ophthalmologists.
If someone continues to make comment on my son's eye, calling it not looking straight and squinted when he looks fine would that be considered bullying
