    It dawned on me that TOO MANY players of Kerbal Space Program 2 are making inefficient and unsafe launchers. I decided to show the community who's boss by making a BEAUTIFUL, safe, and practical air launch vehicle! US Air Force, take note!

I personally knew the game was going to be a flop and nowhere near early access standards, like, honestly I wouldn't even know where to start when criticizing this game or pointing out it's failures and yet the fuckers put a full release price tag on it! wtf, I sure as hell wasn't going to be one of the consumers to fall for that bullshit, the devs are literally taking the piss out of buyers/players ... and only to spit in their face some more and slow the patch/update cadence, shit I believe Sons of the Forest is on their 7th update! this game is a total dumpster fire and people really need to get with reality and quit making excuses, it's not going to be finished for a long, long time yet!
      The only thing that will save the game or entice me to buy it will be modders and what additions/fixes they bring to the table, but if left in the hands of the crooks who have developed/marketed the game thus far, yeah, no thanks and seriously, only those with a room temp IQ decided to buy this game and support these mother fuckers, if anything, the community should have lost their shit at this mess and though many did, many have remained silent, which doesn't bode well for future development of games, not when these development companies see they can literally make pay day from fucking the gaming community over!

    For anyone wondering, the mod he was talking about is FMRS, which allows you to pilot the spacecraft normally into space, then open the tab and revert back to the stage separation event. If the detached stage has a probe core, you will be able to pilot it and land it somewhere. Meanwhile, the main spacecraft will detach and will not be under control. However, once you revert back to the main spacecraft you piloted into orbit, FMRS will merge the timelines and place the detached stage exactly where you landed it, allowing you to actually recover he detached stage and still have the mission in orbit. A win-win! Hope this helps! Also, please make sure FMRS is armed or else nothing will work!

  • @minifitz646

    C-5M Pilot here, many constraints keep the plane from doing this, but the easiest answer is that structural limitations with the visor would keep it from being able to be safely opened at the speeds required for such a maneuver, even though it would be totally cool

    I had an accidental perfect recovery not long ago: two stage to orbit, with a mothership on top of a recoverable booster. After staging, I ignited the engines of the mothership and switched to the booster. By chance, the time it tool to land the booster in the ocean, the mothership had reached an Apoapsis of 140 km and I had enough time for the circularization.
    I was pleasantly surprised, because I expected only one of the two to survive in a single timeline.

  • @taviscostik2346
    @taviscostik2346 Před 11 měsíci +4

    How about a space plane that jettisons its wings/tail/etc once it gets to altitude, thereby transforming into a rocket? Haven't seen anyone do that yet.

    • @sixstringedthing
      @sixstringedthing Před 11 měsíci

      I'm guessing you haven't seen it because it would be pretty pointless for anything other than novelty value, since the whole point of an SSTO spaceplane is for it to be landable/reusable. SSTO ascent profile is pretty inefficient as you lose a lot of DeltaV to drag until you're out of the thickest part of the atmosphere and transition from the air-breathing phase to the closed-cycle phase of the ascent. If you're planning to turn your spaceplane into a rocket as soon as it reaches orbit, why not just build a rocket in the first place? Much more efficient. :)
      I once built a "baby shuttle" with SRBs strapped above/below the wings which got jettisoned when they burned out. It wasn't very useful for anything other than being a space taxi to LKO, and if you have need of such a thing you're better off just building a "traditional" fully reusable SSTO.

    And here I thought I was being clever with my idea for bringing back the XB-70 Valkyrie as an air-launch vehicle. It was designed to be a mach-3 bomber, but what would the aerodynamic effects be with the bay doors open?!
    Hey Matt, are you still thinking of doing KSP1 videos with mods? I'd love to see what you'd do with the Whirlygig planet pack. The home planet has incredibly high gravity but spins very fast so that there's something like 4G at the poles but 'only' 1.7G at the equator. All the atmosphere is at the poles too, so it's rather like a super-Tylo at the equator and a super-Eve at the poles. There's also a moon with a SoI so small that if you do a normal transfer you have to start your insertion burn outside its SoI. Hmm... I guess I started this paragraph in far too meek a way for such a challenging system! :) Up to you if you want to do it; I've just always been fascinated by it.
    I feel similarly about Minmus 2.0. As a non-player, I find the glassy surface a bit fascinating, but I get bored with grey surfaces very quickly so I don't think I'd like to land on it very many times.
    Gorgeous landscape! KSP2 really does have looks going for it, at least in the landscape department.
    Thanks Matt! :)

    Wings are meant to flex, and the control surface movements need to be less violent. Smooth application = smooth flexing. If you watch an A380 landing, pay attention to the wings and watch them gradually sag as the lift drops off then compare resting position with flying position and you'll see strait away how much they flex.
    This is a good craft, it just needs some tweaks.

I'd bring all kinds of silly crazy contraptions there because so easy to get to, land, and could build speed cars on the flat oceans to connect my bases. The bright green was so familiar that I felt at home every time I'd touch down there. This minmus has zero appeal to me whatsoever. They could've improved the textures resolution and maybe ad a few details and interesting features, but conpletely change it to the point it's basically an entirely new world? Why? Some of us have real attachment to that place. Come on.

    I hate KSP 2's Minmus, you really brought it back to life when you change the saturation there. Also they should make the flats... Flat. No trenches, I need a place to build and drive super cars and trains that connect bases.

    Its great to see how far the game has come, this would be impossible, we would need tom cruise to run this mission if it was to happen on launch day.

    Wow watching these physics compared to that new plane building game really shows how unoptimized this game is. KSP is huge though and the planets and space is really cool.

    • @alan-daniel
      @alan-daniel Před 11 měsíci

      I think when he said wobble he was actually talking about the SAS control surface oscillation, which probably could have been totally fixed by making the pitch control surfaces much smaller or setting a much lower Authority Limit on each of them

    I had the opportunity to buy KSP2 a couple weeks ago, and was very tempted, but the performance issues and game breaking bugs still in the game dissuaded me from doing it. I will buy it eventually, but it will be when the game is in a more refined state.

    Remember when they said, "The Kraken has been slain."? Lol.
    Anyway, Terraria has 3-4 different lighting mods. One is called 'trippy'. It's very vibrant and turns the colours up to 11. Kinda like those RTXOn minecraft examples. KSP2 should have something similar. Natural lighting, trippy and classic. Or something like that.

    I remember spending 20 some-odd hours trying to figure out a basic, Falcon-type launch vehicle with fully recoverable boosters and such in KSP 1. Probe cores on the boosters, chutes, etc.

    The problem could be during the ignition in the plane id think it would melt the bottom or try to hot stage the plane and it could blow up the ship what could happen would be the ship would get driven out by those wheels and they would be on the roof and the wheels on the ship and once the ship gets far enough out then the engine ignition could happen.

    So at about 4:40 you can see the plane despawn just at the bottom left of the screen. The despawn caused the game to lag and once the game stopped lagging the rocket completely fell apart. That is a bug report right there.
