I didn't have any confidence in my Japanese until recently, but I remember that in 2018 I was able to make friends even with a really low level. That experience really changed my life, and I'm glad I was able to believe in myself after that!

I wish everyone was like you..!! 🥺 Actually, I had a bad experience when I started learning English. A foreign staff member an English conversation cafe got angry at me in front of other Japanese people because of my poor English..😖😢 めっちゃ落ち込みました。ジェイコブさんは優しい!

I’m sorry to hear that 🥹 Not everyone is like that. I’ve had some terrible experiences in Japan before as well, just keep doing your best and don’t let that one time get you down too much! 🥰

The way I teach is focused on being able to communicate with the world around us! I put a much higher value on that than aiming for perfection!
The more mistakes I make, the more friends I make along the way who will help me 🥰
That’s how I became fluent in Japanese!
As someone who grew up mixed, I had the realization that several of my family members will never have perfect English, and that is 100% okay!
That’s the beauty of language and learning. Everyone is different, and everyone has certain goals they’d like to achieve!

@@englishwithjacobu In both Japan and the United States, children do not make mistakes too much on their own. Of course, adults do not correct them either.
There is a risk that if mistakes are made, they may become fossilized.
To avoid mistakes, children imitate adults. Since English does not have a fundamental grammar, it is impossible to point out what is wrong.
Despite the fact that there are 7,000 languages in the world, they learn learn lunguages in the same way, there is no scientific evidence
that the learning methods increase when one becomes an adult.
Rather, the brain continues to grow till the end of life, the mechanism of learning in the brain remains the same throughout life.
The goals may be different, but the learning methods are the same.

Again, for someone striving for excellence, and perfection, there is no doubt that the learning methods should remain as they are. However, the way I teach encourages my students to break out of their shell and show their personalities as much as possible regardless of mistakes made.
The confidence block I had was not only that of language, but also of culture. Again the beauty of culture and communication will never be denied, regardless of which path any student decides to take 🥰✨

@@englishwithjacobu How do people learning English get their mistakes corrected when speaking the language by themselves?
Without the ability to self-correct, constant monitoring is not possible. It is crucial to memorize a variety of natural expressions that can be self-corrected.
By doing so, one can use feedback to monitor and judge the naturalness of their own English.
Without the ability to learn and correct on their own, improvement in English is challenging.
Even in terms of culture, learners can gain a much better understanding of culture by learning from movies and videos
compared to being taught by native speakers.
