- XPeng made waves when it claimed that their new G9 electric SUV was bench marked on the Porsche Cayenne. We went to Guangzhou, China to see what it was all about.

G9 vs L8 vs ES7 please dude, I cant wait
Great and honest reviews - really appreciate getting such beautifully made videos of these cars we don't see much in Europe and U.S.
I'd rather have an Xpeng G9 than a Porsche.
Thank you for these overseas reviews! Really appreciate your channel. 3 year subscriber here…
Driving this car in the Netherlands now. Very happy with it. Picked it over the Germans and never looked back.
Please do a G9 vs L7/8/9 video! Would also appreciate an ET5 vs TM3 video!
L8 is basically a L9 with worse screens, worse third row space. everything else is basically identical, id like to see this channel reviewing the L6/7 once they come out, L8 is a waste of time
@@yulwu6758 So G9 vs L9 (first of all not sure if they will ship/sell to Europe), otherwise ..
i think the L9 full is going to win after i watched the comparison with BMW X7 ..
good day just found your channel and must say very good work
Ethan please make ET5 and Model 3 comparison video. Thanks.
That is a VERY good looking car in my opinion.
my god that thing is awesome, especially on the inside
Looks really nice
this car looks really nice
Why manufacturers do not use big LFP batteries such as 90 kw/h or more at their offerings? This will bring the costs down. And thank you for the review. Awesome vehicle from Xpeng.
Too heavy and too big I presume.
@@ecrush5080 Yes, LFP has less density so it cannot compete for high capacity which is why it is perfectly suited as a cheaper and lower capacity offering.
That's unfortunate isn't , because LFP have very good electrical characteristic (in term of durability)...and also more safe AFAIK.
@@jwickerszh BYD Tang with 108 kWh LFP battery laughing in the corner 🤭
A bit of a random question. Could you possibly do a video on breaking down the lineups for the foreign brands in the Chinese market? For example a list of the China-only Ford lineup.

Thanks for another great and honest review. One question, what's the exterior color of the G9 that you tested: frost silver, graphite grey or other?
Awesome Guangzhou!
Hey dude! I see you’re driving around my neighborhood near GAC factory. If you are still in Guangzhou maybe can meet for some 🍺?
When was this filmed? NGP 3.5 launched three weeks ago. “Nowhere to be found.” Is a pretty big mistake.
Also, the matchup between Porsche and G9 during the launch video looked interesting. G9 almost beat Cayenne. Maybe try to push it in a tough course next time? I remember finding Ferrari light because I couldn’t touch the accelerator in city streets without pulling too much power. Doesn’t mean it’s not sporty though.
G9 is obviously much more focused on comfort other than sport. It's suspensions are way less supportive than a Cayenne when driving aggressively. But it's also al lot more comfortable than the Cayenne. I'd say a GLS would make better comparison.
@@junlinliu9815 that makes a lot of sense. I guess it almost beat Cayenne because of its heavy battery base. EVs are more stable through the turns.
@@enigmatum In turns of center of mass, yes. But a heavier body also has a larger momentum, makes it easier to tilt. So indeed a stiffer suspension there.
@@enigmatum probably G9 got a stiffer suspension than the cayenne🤣
Can't wait for the release of the G9 in Northern Europe later this year!
that is a very attractive SUV if I must say.
In this video the XPeng G9 is called "a mid size SUV", but from an Italian point of view, it' so HUGE that (almost) nobody in my country would buy it. Our cities streets and parking are sized for cars of the '60s and '70s, this car would never fit in an Italian garage.
A wuling mini ev would be a perfect fit for that
@@user-gc1hg9sp9k A Leapmotor T03 would be much better, safer and usable also on highways... while still being a very practical car.
That's funny because in China many people said the g9 is smaller than BMW x5 or gle
@@roys1361 in China is common to renew entire parts of a city, by tearing down old buildings and roads. Then they build new modern building with wider roads. Not in Europe...
It's no problem. I drive one in the Netherlands but also visited France and Spain. No problem. You'll have excellent 360 degree view. Camera's, sensors do the rest.
I love G9 looks on the outside but i really love the interior of L9
Great review, did you see by any chance any option to turn the menu into English language?
No English menu available as far as we could tell.
Too many nice Chinese cars which only available in china...need to stay in china in future 😁
I live in Norway and this car is coming here soon so its not only for the Chinese market
@@danijsn they rise the price so much compared to Chinese market. 🥺
This car cabin noise at 100kmh is 59db. For y to have an ideia a Rolls-Royce ghost cabin noise at 100kmh is 50db. It’s only a 9db difference. It is more comfortable than a cayenne with a macan price, using the Rolls-Royce for comparison. The g9 is also faster than most cayenne variants as it’s 0to100 time tested by a reviewer is 3.8 seconds averaging 3.9sec. The cayenne who goes under 4 sec 0to100 are the turbo and y gonna pay over 130k for those
But the top speed of an EV is still sucks
@@gadgetgasspoll2923 y don’t test top speed. Most people do drag races. Way more important because when you’re at highway and have to stop at the shoulder y can quickly take off again or instants that suddenly y need a quick acceleration
You pay for the driving experience. Numbers don’t reflect how a car feels in your hands, or in this cars case, how numb it is and how uninvolved you are in the drive. With a Porsche, you’re paying for that analog feeling of becoming one with the car. They’re for people who enjoy driving.

Did anyone here had the change to test drive the base steel spring suspension version of the XPENG G9?
lovely car
I enjoy seeing you, and your comments about the Chinese vehicles. Any chance these will be exported to the US?
ehhh it's hard. Because the popular models like Xpeng G9,Zeeker 001,BYD Seal(Atto4) have bulk order but manufacturers do not have enough capacity. I mean even in China, it's hard to get them as you have to wait for 2-3 months after reservation. Maybe you can look forward to BYD Atto3 (Yuan EV Plus) entering the US market.
@@gak4752 but byd Atto is not a star model and if Byd debute with that model in the US market, it's not gonna help make a buzz for their brand.
@@ProCelestialEmpire Can‘t agree more. As BYD has stopped production of fuel models this year and has rapidly expanded production capacity,I belive it will launch electric star models like Han EV and Seal in the U.S. market faster than other Chinese automakers.
Review the SAIC feifan 7
I think this would look great with a black roof
Caught Between Model Y and G9... which one would you recommend?
G9 all day long
I would say that g9 are equal to Tesla Model X
REALLY LOVE G9 AND L7 MAX
Handsome vehicle
When we going to see a review on Aito M5 ev??
Since we already drove the extended-range version, we are unlikely to drive the EV version. The EV also uses the same electric motors, so same power, and the driving experience is likely very similar.
What’s the price

And the topspeed is still limited to 180 km/h?
it's enough in China
The quality in chinese products have improved over the 20 years, better dont underestimate the chinese people.
China should sell more of their cars in Asia. Don't disturb EU and US.
Now i am confused how many Chinese companies make electric vehicles, xpeng and nio and byd and i think other companies as well, how is that possible,by the way this car is amazing but i think you have to make a compression between this and the newest tesla car
As a Chinese, I think G9 is much better than Model Y
Great vid and think the boot is 660 L
What do you mean I have a package for you.
XPeng G9 VS Li Auto L9 ???
Xpeng G9 VS Li Auto L8/L7
L9 is one class higher than G9.
@@qilu2004 but many observers contrast them
@@MegaAlex173 sales figures will prove it. L9 delivered over 10k in the first month after launch. G9 will be lucky to do half of that in Oct. have you seen the two cars in person? L9 is bigger than a X7, G9 is smaller than a X5. L9 has more luxury/comfort features than G9. G9 is better on autonomous driving and it is bev. but if the law doesn't permit, what is the point of paying for autonomous driving?

I feel that Li L7/8/9 copied design language of Xpang, which is a shameful action.
If u realised the front of the car like Citroen C5 X
NIO maybe the first? at least early than C5x
I would laugh all the day when ppl compare this suv to cayenne. Yes it can power as much as cayenne or even more but thats anybody can do in auto industry. Every porshe is sports car.
Its just 8 yrs old company 🤣
looks too much like the li one
I think nio is better
Well, once you move the car's face from the equation, the exterior design language is straight up Lincoln Corsair. The face is *very* Lucid Air. It's not unattractive, but, it is also not exactly original.
I thought they are pitching it against the NIO ES7 and Li8… am still not sure if the 650X is value for money compared to the L8/L9… I think the car is not worth the price play…
the G9 has better driving controllability. L8/L9 is a good car, but the driving handling is not good enough, the suspension is relatively soft
@@williamchang4599 true... That's Why i eventually got the G9P
Why when you reviewing the car you have to mention on the title the western cars maker. just do review chinese cars.
Germany cars are highly rated in Chinese car market, that's why every Chinese car maker want to build something which is comparable to Germany cars. So reviewers also often compare these Chinese cars with Germany cars.
