Old world skills are fascinating to me. For many years I worked with clay and made all my dishes cups teapots bowls etc. There is something so satisfying about making something rather than buying it. Makes me feel connected to peoples from time long ago, when everyone made what they needed and did not have a local store to pop down to to buy things.
I thought this was a very clear instructional video. Thanks for doing this!
Best felted slipper tutorial on CZcams. Thank you xx :)
Amazing work!! Thank you for the wonderful video.
Loved this video! I had NO idea just how much work and time went into these! Really AWESOME video!!! Thank you!
And then when I see a pair on Etsy or other maker sites, for under $50 USD, it makes me wonder how those folks can survive.....
I cannot wait to try a pair! It's very kind of you to share this video. Keep warm!
Thanks, I'd really like to try this one day. I was recently given some felt slippers and they are really warm.
Thank you for sharing! Love this
This is wonderful! Thank you so much for sharing!
This is so good! Thank you so much for posting! Very Helpful.
This is lovely! Thank you very much, I can't wait to try this!
wonderful! thank you for sharing your art!
You are amazing. I was looking at even your table you use. Super job. Shoe lasts are hard to find in women's sizes. Thank you for sharing the process.
it takes me 8 hours at least to knit slippers to felt. this is an amazing shortcut for me!
GREAT video. Can't wait to try this.
Nice! I just felted slippers with my 7th grade (am waldorf handwork teacher too) with varried results, and I think I will incorporate this way to felt.
I love your table!
thanks for the tutorial. I might stick to buying only because it looks so time consuming lol. To all those people making comments on the grammar and typos...I think you should go get a life or say something constructive instead. The uploader is sharing her time and knowledge with us and all you can pick on is the language? Sheesh
they re jealous. kudos to her for posting. and so kind of her to show people about this craft
I love the mistakes. I love the music. I love the video. You make me so happy with this video. It is PERFECT ! Do more. blessings and more blessings
Is informing someone of the typos in their work not considered constructive? I mean it’s all fun and games until some poor fool pours “soup” onto his slippers instead of soap… 1:54 😅
This answered every question I had. Gonna give this a try, thank you! :D
Very good video! It was informative and gave some inside tips and ideas to try at home. Thank you! It seems like an intensive process but the results are wonderful!
Beautiful work!
Great video and if I wasn't allergic to wool, I would definitely make a pair. I'll bet they keep your feet nice and warm and not sweaty like synthetic fibers and fabrics do. I make cute slipper and slipper boots with all cotton fabric and cotton batt.
Are you allergic to all wool or just sheep? You may find other animals less objectionable....I am felting hair from our "hypoallergenic" dogs that does not bother people allergic to dogs.....
So cool! Very informative video!!! I want to try this so bad!!!
Im never going to do it BUT Those look BEAUTIFUL! I will get a pair in the future though. Great work!
Beautiful!
wonderful video. thank you for teaching me how to do this
well done! two questions: when you take out the templet and start rolling them for fulling, doesn´t the insides felt together?
2nd. about what´s the shrinkesh % should you calculate doble your shoe size?
great video..so generous of you to share your knowledge with us..many thanks
Thanks for sharing!! Great video..
just to let the public know not just any wool could conform like this so good luck with that!!
Thanks for sharing such amazing idea
very good instructions !!
This is so cool thank you for the vid
Do you by chance have written instructions for these? Including what type of soap to use and how much wool to get ahold of depending on shoe size?
awesome, I really want to make some of these, thank you, x
love your explication... 😍
Thanks for sharing your technique. Where can one get the lasts (shoe/foot forms) that you used? They look waterproof and great!
Well done on a great informative video :D Much appreciated by a fellow-felter and please ignore silly comments about spelling ...I have to work in my 2nd language and you did great ! Thank you again !!
Wow amazing
Well done! Thank you!
What is the relationship between the number of wool layers and final felt thickness and density? I've never made felt and want to make some to replace the dampers on my harpsichord jacks. Thanks for the video!
Thankyou very much for sharing!
Great video, thanks
Love this How funny to think that inpoorest sections of cold climates these were considered a neccessity - i.e. in Russia these are called Valenki. :)
Thank you!!
thank you so much!
did you make the second video?
i really want to try this...
thank you! very good!
awesome thanks for sharing this. 🙂
Thank you...Thank you...THANK YOUUU!!!
Thank you for this video! Can you tell me approximately, how many grams of wool fiber do you need for this?
thank you
bellissimo questo video. Molto chiare le spiegazioni: mi aiuteranno sicuramente: GRAZIE!
Lots of thanks for tutorial. How should be the template for a size 3 foot?, many thanks
Love it, rub with soup ahaha;D great tutorial btw
These look lovely! How much wool did you use?
Many thanks for sharing your skills with us.
Unfortunately, I don't have the time to spend making one pair of slippers.
I guess the slippers will come apart if one washes them.
Can the bubble wrap stay inside the shoe until the very end so that the wool does not become matted during the bamboo rolling process? By the way I love this tutorial
I love this video! I am wondering how big you make the template. Is there a ratio on the size of the template versus the size of the slipper you are trying to make?
Thanks for sharing what you know. Your instructions are nice and clear.
Yay i can make house slippies now
what do you to with left overs ?
Wish I could see if there were answers to how much wool, and where to get the foot forms. I'd really like to try this. My feet freeze in the winter. And I can only assume you rinse the slippers when your done in cool water and air dry? Nice job and thank you!
try amazon.com that's were I found some. I didn't rinse the slippers, just let them dry they seem to be fine. I am going to try and sew some sued on the bottoms for a little extra strength against wear. I was worried they were going to be too big but they work down quite a bit smaller by the time your done with them. I actually think I will make them thicker next time. I would think you can use as much as you want as far as wool goes.
I have felt sheets. can they be converted into fibre.
Thank you for sharing this video! I'm ready to make my first pair of felted wool slippers. But I am not able to find where to get the shoe lasts - would you mind telling me where I can get them? Thanks in advance!
maybe because, if you're trying to LEARN something, this shows what it looks like at each step. the felt changes as it progresses and to skip steps can confuse some. besides.. theres a slider at the bottom if you're so bored, slide it and skip parts you think don't matter.
Thank you for making the video. Where do you get the rubber soles from?
cool......n tq....good job......
Thank you
i liked tihis video.
can you tell me what the musiek is?
ferry stimulating
what is the green thing you put in the slippers
after the wet slippers go on the form and dry ,,,do u wash the soap out and put them back on the form...Ive seen these hand made slippers once and they were very thick and comfy looking.
how much wool is needed for a pair of slippers?
Great video! I can't wait to try making my own. Approximately, how much wool fiber do you need for this? How many grams of fiber?
Great work but i wanna learn that u used cold water or hot?
Can you advise me as to where you purchased your shoe form? I'm having a hard time trying to locate them. Thanks!
What if you want to add a sole for outer wear, how would you do that?
super video thanks
Thanks for sharing!
So what if you wrote soup instead of soap? I still get it!!
Again thanks for sharing!!
Can i ask what are used to form the slipper please ?
Can somebody direct me to where I can buy boot lasts for making felt boots.? I am in NZ
Catherine McCarthy PUT YOUR FEET IN PLASTIC BAGS. WRAP, SECURELY, IN DUCT TAPE. REMOVE CAREFULLY. STUFF FIRMLY. VOILA! YOU HAVE CUSTOM LASTS!
What happens to all that soap? It stays in the finished product?
hi where did u get your shoe lasts?
Where do I find the foot forms you are using in the video?
Do you ever wash the soap out? What type of bar soap? Do you put them in the dryer on a wrack to dry, or do you air dry?
+Jan Coldwater , yes wash the soap out then let them dry on those feet forms if you have them. Or put them on your feet, carefully take them off and let them dry in that shape.
Rub with soap ?
How much larger then my foot is this made in inches if possible . Love you video.
So you end up with soapy slippers? I don't get it
thanks
how many grams of wool do i need for a pair of slippers?
how do you get the soap out?. i did not see you rinse! i must try these thank you for sharing
Elle Drake
Why are you saying yuck to soap? We wash our hands with soap and use soap to stay hygienic
This is fantastic. Do you sell these on Etsy or anywhere?
Cool
Great tutorial, what is the expansion size for the resist measurements. I am thinking - 30-50% increase of resist size? - yes? Thank you Jamie
Jamie Jedinak it all depends on the wool but your estimate is correct. I use my feet for the final shaping too. If you do this with a friend, you can get a great foot massage😎Have fun!
questions: How big should the template be for sizing? Doe you use Shoe Lasts for the final sizing?
+Aurora Green , probably as big as your foot. Trace your foot. I haven't made them yet, just guessing. The template won't shrink, but the wool will around it, then you' ll be adding more wool to cover the edges it shrank away from.
How do you work out how much they will shrink and how much bigger the resit should be made?
Thank You for so generously sharing your process, LinenAroundMe!
