    This is so weird. As a late comer to Trivium, really just getting into them last year (2019) I find it insane that people hated them as much as he's describing. I'm so glad they pushed through. Their music is so ridiculously good.

    I saw Trivium once when they were opening for Asking Alexandria (which was ridiculous - Trivium should've been headlining), and during their set, Matt stopped the show to call out some dudes who were acting all macho and trying to destroy everyone in the pit. It was awesome. After that, I had a lot of respect for him, and now, after this video, I have even more. This was pretty inspiring.

    • @No1WillMakeItOutAlive
      @No1WillMakeItOutAlive Před 6 lety +25

      agreed, Asking Alexandria shouldve been opening for them. I like both bands, but trivium is so established in the metalcore world that it feels weird to see them open for a band that is less established (even though asking is very popular and established as it is)

    I've always respected Trivium and have known for years that Matt does not carry that arrogance and ego on his shoulders. I don't know why in the beginning of the social net era that it was so trendy to hate Trivium other than he could kick your ass at solos in a time where it was cool to eliminate shredding solos into your song. Sad they had to live a tainted life, however the 'what ever doesn't kill you makes you stronger' saying is quite valid.

    • @MFKR696
      @MFKR696 Před 4 lety +8

      Forget the solos. Matt Heafy could kick your ass in general lol. He's got no ego problems because he's been training in martial arts since he was a child. The primary aspect of martial arts is not fighting. It's discipline.

    Matt Heafy is undoubtedly one of the most talented musicians on the planet. His humility and intelligence portray him as a greater personality, greater than the social media and on-the-stage image. I've always looked up to him as I wanted to upgrade my guitar skills and vocal technique, and I couldn't emulate anyone better than Matt! In addition to his crazy musical talent, he involves himself in cooking and martial arts, and the best part, as he quotes, is that he loves challenging himself.
    I hope that the pandemic situation ends soon and I get to see Trivium.

      @Blaqsailens Před 9 lety

      Cr4nium13 Songs like Brave this Storm, Vengeance Falls, To Believe, and Villainy Thrives have very djenty riffs. All of those songs sound very similar as well. I would've preferred more songs like Incineration (sounds like a nice progression from Shogun). The songs sounded too chuggy to be groove metal. Groove also usually sounds more like thrash metal. There's actually a video on youtube called "This is Groove Metal" which I think sums up the sound pretty well. They were more groovy on Shogun in my opinion.

Lots of practice videos, playing video games, and just farting around in general. It always cracks me up when I see him fucking up while he practices playing guitar and singing just like us regular people do when we are practicing alone in our homes. Shows that he isn't so full of himself that he can't allow people to see him not being perfect.

    Hey Matt, thank you for sharing. I always maintain that working hard and getting through all the crap that comes with the territory of being different, makes us metal heads stronger. Your positive attitude and morals are very inspiring, we need more people like you to hand the music over to, so that you can responsibly carry it over to the next generation.
    Us older metal heads are starting to worry, when we see the current generations attitude towards each other. All they want to do is fight and bring each other down.
    I remember us being a strong family, who stuck together through thick and thin, we always had each others back and supported each other. We were a force to be reckoned with and we just wanted to rock out and have a massive party.
    I wish we were still like that, our family is falling apart, it's very sad.

    Trivium has always been one of my all time favorite bands. I appreciate Matt doing a motivational segment for people. trivium as a band has always been an inspiration for me and my son. we have seen them many times live. Always love everything about Trivium. Matts humility and the fact that the band doesn't sacrifice its sound or compromise artistically. They always stay true to what they believe. It may not be everyone's cup of tea, but when you really listen to the art they compose, its very inspiring and rocks like hell!

    When speaking about personal inspirations for me, I must name Matt Heafy. I thankfully got the oppertunity to meet him at Wacken 2019, where he played some games and also music, and even got to ask him some questions. I won´t forget his words about finding a personal balance in life, especially when it comes to emotions. My impression of him is of a very kind-hearted, warm and intelligent guy. He is someone I aspire to be in some aspects. Of course every human is unique in his or her own way but he inspires me to just better myself...

    Matt if you read comments, I became a huge fan right when I heard The Crusade. So if the trend was that that album was a drop in quality, or direction or whatever, it worked for me. Love every album you’ve made. Love that you’re always tweaking things and trying new things. Keep it up!

    I'm from holland. A year ago I bought a second hand guitar and later it appeared to be an Matt Heafy Epyphone. Didn't know the guy, or the guitarfeatures, but it was a beautiful guitar. I just fell in love with the looks. Got really exited when I discovered the killswitch LOL : ). Think he's a decent and inspiring person. I can't play (yet), but I'm glad to have the guitar. Bye
