I'm from NY and I'll admit that pound for pound rapper for rapper UK probably has us cooked. NY drill is mostly coming out of one borough and UK drill has been around longer and is baked into their culture a little bit more. UK drillers also tend to be in large crews and the music shifts as people get killed/locked up. They also get a lot of their shows shut down so its a bit harder for them to make it out the hood (if they're even trying).
These dudes in the comments have probably been suggesting relatively new music, you guys are kind of missing the fundamentals. UK drill is a bit more complicated because gangsta rap in UK hasn't gone through what NWA went through over here stateside.

For me personally, US drill sounds more like a mix of rap and pop music whereas UK drill is much more violent the large majority of the time and that’s what drill music is. It’s meant to be rude and violent.
The best example I can think of to back this up is block6 plugged in. In my opinion it’s the most demonic and violent drill track I’ve ever heard. Same with CB - Take that risk. It just embodies what drill is perfectly and that’s why I think UK drill is streets ahead of US drill

@@qwertyreejej9584 I feel when these US reactors start with older tracks or follow beefs like 6th vs 7th for example over time they pick it up much faster. look at any of these channels that followed NPK/OFB vs WG/9 or CB VS Young Dizz. A lot of them don't even need the lyrics as much any more. The slang people will tell them in the comments whenever they don't ask and they become adjusted to the accent over time. To be fair though, its MUCH harder for them to understand UK Drill compared to a normal rap tune.

A lot of these Drill beats sound like the Uk, not saying Drill started from the Uk but it has evolved from what is was back in 2012-4

(Apart from the name of course) UK beats and flows stemmed off of UK grime and UK rap, 0 influence from america. They only named it drill for the clout and it worked. Maybe the top US drill songs are MAYBE, but drill over here is by no means soft. Basically it goes like this: UK drill songs have more upfront rudder disses.
