Kecak dance uluwatu

Kecak was originally a trance ritual accompanied by male chorus. In the 1930s, Walter Spies, a German painter and musician, became deeply interested in the ritual while living in Bali. He adapted it as a drama, based on the Hindu Ramayana and including dance.

克诈舞（Tari Kecak），也叫盖查舞，也称为猴舞。其内容取自《罗摩衍那》，讲述的是神猴哈努曼率领众猴搭桥从魔王手中救出罗摩之妻悉多的故事。该舞一般在夜晚星空下演出，场地躲在神坛前的广场上。舞蹈由主舞和伴舞组成。主演者表演故事情节，由数名男女演员担纲，伴舞者扮演群猴，由100-200名成年男子参演。“猴子”们的装束一致：上身裸露，下身围一块白底黑格的纱笼，腰间别着短剑。他们围着篝火或蜡烛，又里向外席地而坐，演出颇具特色，自始至终无任何音乐伴奏，“猴子”们时而高举双手，时而前仰后合， 并有节奏地发出“吱喳” “哇哇“等叫声。表演达到高潮时，节奏越来越快，”猴子“们像多米诺骨牌一样，一个个，一圈圈地响后倒下，并发出”呜呜“的低吟声，气氛紧张而热烈，有时演员们兴奋至极，还起身光脚在火上跳。据说他们个个拥有功力，不会被火烫伤。-- 武文俠，陆春林：印度尼西亚，北京：世界知识出版社，2001年版，第202页。
