Speaking as a system admin, there is a delay in applications starting up using the startup folder of the start menu (as shown in the video). The video is 100% right, and it works so please don't take this as a criticism, it is a great video. If you want a slightly faster start up of Bigbox, use a scheduled task to launch it. The schedule task should run on the Users group, normal privileges, trigger "At log on of any user", with Bigbox exe as the action.

You could just right click your desktop go to view and uncheck "Show Desktop Icons" Other then that, great video as always. :)

Brilliant. Also, I suggest you download Windows classic shell and customize the taskbar and make it match the background image and give it a deep translucence. That way it will “hide” right away. It’ll be very subtle. You can even customize the button to blend

Hope you dont mind me asking, Im having a big problem, since the new windows update my arcade controls will not function when I boot up my pc with launchbox, I keep having to go into my arcade cabinet to disconnect and reconnect my arcade buttons usb socket, then it works again, but I dont want to keep having to remove my buttons panel from the cabinet to reconnect it!
You should also change the Lockscreen wallpaper the image you see were you would type in your password to start windows if you had one. also if you don't want to delete the trash can you can change the icon to a game character.
I've tried doing this in Windows 10. Big Box just hangs and never actually starts

i know this an old video. i have come up with an issue where im trying to launch right into bigbox but from a second hard drive i have on the same machine.
so the boot up occurs on the c drive but all the files are on the e drive.
i make a copy of the bigbox.exe on move it into shell:startup, but the path looks like a long path to startup folder on the c drive .
what am i needing to do ?

LauncherforKodi. It let's u use kodi shell (no need to clear your desktop), set start up delay and focus the application back. i also advise to enable game mode in your antivirus. Works like a charm...

Just got LaunchBox premium. It's trawling my ROM's as we speak. Is there a way to launch a game on start of BigBox? Something like "D:\LaunchBox\BigBox.exe galaga" ?

I use an external power button that sits on top of the cabinet. One push it boots, one push it shuts down.

@@ruisong396 The external button, yes. It isn't like pressing the power button on a desktop, it initiates a Windows proper shutdown.
Can it be run in kiosk mode?
I tried with no success. Kiosk mode is only for "official" apps, installed by the Microsoft Store. No way to "browse" for a startup program. Only apps from the store.

Nope. You can't launch the .exe; just the official apps from Microsoft Store.
How can I shutdown windows after I am done playing?
I'm also curious about this. I was hoping that would be in the video as well. I want a clean shutdown of OS before I switch off the power in my arcade.

What if your LaunchBox is on a external hard drive ?
Should work the same, but it's possible you may run into some errors if the hard drive is not accessible during startup.

There is a "Shutdown" option within the system menu that you can use to shutdown Big Box and your computer.

Why not use the Fences software to get a clean desktop and you'll get it 100% clean. You just click on the desktop to make all your icons visible and click to hide to all icons.

No no noooo. The simpliest way to do it:
In windows search type "edit group policy"
Now we search for "custom user interface" it is under User Configuration\Administrative Templates\System. Now you have chose enable and under options to write the path for the program we want to start up instead of explorer, for example c:/launch box/bigbox.exe. Perfect way for an arcade cabinet.
To reopen explorer again exit bigbox and press alt+ctr+del and open task manager, new task and write explorer.exe. Back to normal windows.

This is the best method. Really easy too. Doesn't even load windows.
Whatever you do, don't listen to this guy. While this method works in principle, do know that once you restart your PC; you will no longer be able to launch Task Manager.
You see Task Manager depends on Explorer to function, and since you programmed Windows to prevent Explorer from launching at startup, once you restart your PC you will be unable to run Task Manager. Thus you will be stuck in Launchbox or Big Box.
I was unable to repair this, I was forced to reset Windows 10...
@@noface24 Really men, this guy is a fucking asshole, but to those who tried this and can´t undo this shit: go to C:/Windows/System32 and open mmc.exe now go to File (or Archive, dont know, my windows is in portuguese, I'm Brazilian) and select gpedit and undo the shit. Sorry for bad english.
