Under every Radiohead song it says, "most underrated song" or something similar.
such underrated comment
Underrated reply to an underrated comment under an underrated song
That grumbling tone of the guitar. One of my favourites. An underrated track.
It's the long lost son of bodysnatchers
I imagine badass cowboy with big guns that go on bank or train robbery like in Red Dead Redemption 2
The guitars absolutely growl in this song, love it. Something about that middle section reminds of the middle part of Pearly*
Yes, they really nailed the sound of dry and un-saturated guitars, they explored it even more on AMSP
The dynamic that Phil and Clive have are incredible. One plays a normal beat to keep the band anchored, and the other does some crazy syncopated shit to give the beat that added The King Of Limbs complexity. A bit like tug of war.
Drumming this or Reckoner broke my brain as a kid
@@ChudLife trying to play along to reckoner when i was just starting out and crying. good memories
@@thisistheglasshouse ooo also, Separator. That one still trips me up
The plastic water bottle taped to Clive’s drum stick 🥁 as a shaker nice touch how am I now just noticing that, this band is something else I can listen to any one of their songs hundreds of times and pick up some melody or tune I never noticed before they are outstanding musicians
This has been mixed unbelievably well
I absolutely agree.
One of Radiohead’s most underrated songs EVER!
agreeed!!
Too bad they don't do this one live anymore :(
There’s no radiohead underrated song they’re all perfect
From one of Radiohead's most underrated albums EVER!
For me the most " underated " song is Codex ! Little by little is a very rythmique song ,as the people expect ! CODEX is différent . Not so "black" , like " there is still hope " !
My two cents....
Bonjour de France les amis and take care of you guys. Stay healty
✌😉👍🇫🇷
10 years of this album. Has aged very well.
Initially, had a tough time liking this album. Although, I was impressed. Kinda brought up many sleeping insecurities I didn’t know where there about myself. Made me wonder if I’m liking this because everyone else is, or did I just reach a point in which I’m really just not satisfied and am lying to myself for some reason? But, eventually I came to realize this album is a slow burn and it just grew on me in terms of loving this one as I do the rest.
Love this album!
This album aged like a fine whisky. It was bitter and off putting at first, but now it’s harshness has mellowed out, and the more complex notes have a chance to stand out and shine.
Have you ever ACTUALLY considered how incredible this song is?
Yes.
What? Think you’re the only one that LOVES Radiohead?
syncopation man sheeesssh
It's on repeat in my head chronically...
I enjoy it a lot more than the studio version. This is a top ten song of theirs for me.
Every instrument leads the other, yet none follow.
This rhythm seems like "Baião", a regional music genre here in Brazil.
some them love brasilian music
The rhythm is everything ❤
This BLOWS away the studio/album version.
My daughter is 13 days old and this is her favorite song already ❤
she has golden ears man!
Wonder if they’ll ever release the basement as an album
A Moon Shaped Pool From the Basement!
How many bands out there wish they had one drummer with that level of skill, subtlety and creativity, and radiohead go and get 2!!
When the drum beat kicks back in after the bridge though..
Goosebumps
I can listen to this song in two different phrasings and timings. Fucking genius. Like those Goosebumps book where you choose the ending. You can listen to this song whichever way you like. Of course, going with Thom's gestures divulges the true rhythm. I love it so.
I changed my mind. THREE different phrasings.
How? I didn't get it
@@REGULARTRONIX I came to actually say there's three. Theres the main beat played by Phil I think on drums and the main guitar, then the weird syncopated beat by Clive, then I checked thom's dancing and he's dancing in opposite, like head is nodding on the backbeat, then you can hear actually some guitars are playing on the backbeat too. Yeah genius!
Mate. Same! I heard the album version, snare sounded like a normal backbeat to my ears. Became my fave song on TKOL probably. Then I watched this, heard the count-in and was like... 🤨 I had to stop the video. Then I listened to the count a few more times before I realised my whole life's been a lie. Gotta say I prefer my "original" version but you're right, it's cool to choose. It's the guitar that throws ya!
@@REGULARTRONIX it's starting to look like a triple rainbow...
Such an underrated album. Its in my rotating top 3 of theirs.
Ed is one of the most underrated guitarist of the world!!! This song won’t be the same without all the ambient constructed behind!!!
He really is so great. People don’t understand how different Radiohead would be without him
@@MyBeautifulDarkTwistedFantasy6 The Smile is evidence of that. Still incredible but definitely different, obv still different in more ways than that one but yeah.
The guitar in the chorus is so good that it hurts me to know I'll never write anything that good
Sick Brazilian music references on the drums
Yeah, it's a stretched out samba/bossa nova groove. Very cool
@@MM-vs2et ACXUALY its kinda more like "baião", but yeah

That bass line... omg
TKOL might not be everyone’s favourite album but you can’t deny some of the unreal music on it. This is the best example.
Not my favourite album, but feel this live session elevated it to a new level. Got the audio of this basement session back in 2011 at the end of high school and was totally obsessed. Every walk and commute I played it. Legendary imo.
The whole album is a hidden syncopation/psychedelic galore. I listened to it on LSD and it finally clicked. Now TKoL is probably top 3 in my favorite RH albums.
The studio cut of this song doesn’t really do it for me. But somehow, this live performance is incredible. This version of Little By Little is probably one of my favourite RH songs.
This song also has a hidden syncopation on the album version (like videotape). You have to make an effort to hear it. I realized it during an acid trip -TKOL is pretty much the best album ever for LSD.
@@daurpmHidden? Subtle? It’s hard to tell on Videotape until the high hats come in, but I feel the syncopation in the Little by Little studio version slaps you in the face from the first note. Almost makes you dizzy.
@@alexanderchapman1460i really enjoy that section
@@alexanderchapman1460I didn’t notice that the words and guitar is annunciated on the upbeat until hearing the live version because the drum and bass have a few measures to themselves at the start and the guitar entrance is so jarring.
On the album version it’s super subtle I suppose unless you’re a drummer or something. The only clue on the album is that the first beat seems to take longer and then when the first chorus starts, Thom comes in a half beat early with “little by little”.
It’s disorienting in such a cool way.
4:08 that little passage by Jonny is to live for
My favorite off TKOL!
This, separator and codex are 10/10!
One of the best songs from the album most definitely.
This is infinitely better than the studio version...
practically all the basements are better than the studio versions
well, not infinitely. I'd say I like this one more, but the album version has that disorienting feel to it.
No, they play the songs wrong, but they suit white people's ears
@@HappyAppart what
@@HappyAppart ???
this is why RadIohead are the greatest band of all time. a song that would rank about 85 in their all time list is THIS GOOD
It’s unreal isn’t it. They don’t even play this live anymore.
@@86Rikki most people think TKOL is ass which is so so wrong
@@conorkmartshoppingexperien2739 usually people say that because they expected a masterpiece akin to ok computer after in rainbows, and instead got tkol, but tkol is such a good album ong

The mix is excellent but the arrangement is just genius. The syncopation, voicings on guitars etc. They sure know how to make ear candy.
Baião do Radiohead rs
sim mano,parece um forrozão.
Sim! :)
Verdade rs.
i think part of the reason i love radiohead so much is the layers the songs have
I feel like the production on KOL doesn't do this song justice. This version, the song totally comes together and all the parts make sense. The chords and melody are so rich, I fucking love it
Sure, it's better than the studio version, but that's actually the version I loved immediately. Straight away my favourite song of the album
Omg those guitar few cords from 4:08 are just pure bliss
Clive Deamer The Human Metronome.
Would have sat nicely on the Kid A/Amnesiac era albums
this sounds like a 2nd half kid A song
too much guitar for Kid A or Amnesiac. This would fit in with HTTT
@@MM-vs2et did you listen to kid a? in limbo, optimistic, how to disappear, all use guitar pretty heavily
@@jacobm92 At least compared to HTTT or even In Rainbows. Little by Little is very riff based, which fits better in a riff based album. Kid A only has In Limbo and Optimistic for guitar riff based songs. Amnesiac has Knives Out, I Might Be Wrong, and You And Whose Army for guitar riff based songs. HTTT has 8, and In Rainbows has 6. Quantitatively and proportionally more than Kid A/Amnesiac.
I’d say amnesiac
This album is the definition of underrated.
For me Radiohead is one of those bands whose live performances exceed their recorded tracks. They are just phenomenal live.
Such a mesmerizing version! I've been waiting for this one
This basement session gives me the chills
Aqui em PE ia botar o pessoal pra dançar na noite são João.
boaa
Radiohead no forró essa eu queria ver
Só assim o povo iria curtir 😅
I've never heard this one before. This is huge as usual. And again I'm speechless 🙄 they are so big. I feel so little
Big brazilian music influence!
I slept on this album for years, and only recently gave it an honest re-listen. This and Separator are easily in my top 15 Radiohead tunes, and Morning Mr Magpie is close behind. It's definitely got some great tracks. I honestly have a hard time figuring out the timing on Colin's line here, a bit like Airbag. It keeps sneaking up on you. It's fantastic.
o rei do baião estaria orgulhoso!
I ADORE this song, especially this version. Brilliant.
One of my favorite Radiohead moments right there 3:36
same
The groove in this song is very reminiscent of some music styles from Northeastern Brazil, such as forró and baião. I wonder if Thom was influenced by Mauro Refosco (from Atoms For Peace) and his band Forró In The Dark.
and maracatu for sure
E toca o baião.
I still can't figure out if it's Philip or Clive who creates that mesmerizing 'bell' sound or what do you call it. I wish I could listen to everyone's part in TKOL From The Basement separately. That would be the best. Actually, I wish I could do this with all of Radiohead music. I love this band so fucking much.
If you look at Phil's right drumstick it looks like he has a shaker taped onto it. Could be that.
Looks like Phil is holding a glass bottle in his right hand, along with the drum stick. And the "bell" sound is either the stick hitting the glass (doubt it) or he's got a small jelly bean/marble inside the glass bottle so that it acts like a shaker. The cap is on, so I think it's the latter. You can get a better look at 3:22 - 3:24
this sounds like brazilian forró
Philip I guess
wonder if Kanye's stem player can be used to isolate tracks on radiohead
Little by little, by hook or by crook... 🎶😉
I'm such a tease and you're such a flirt
Phoebe FP I’m arab and that line makes me laugh cause “tease” sounds like طيز which means “ass” lol
An unknown masterpiece.
Everything I play this thru is just not loud enough. Could you imagine being in that room 🤯
O my goodness! Thursday really is Radiohead day ❤🐱♏☯️🌌🦅🏴
This is cool but I like the studio version better tbh. As someone else here said, it’s more disorienting which is what I love most about the song

counting out the "One" is such a strange feeling
Keep up the good work. Love the stuff and I keep loving what you guys put out. I love music that has an emotional or even sad tinge to it, reminds me to stop every now and again and feel something in this world that wears you numb.
I love love love how the verses have this ambiguous downbeat effect depending on whether youre listening to the guitars or the rhythm section
