What a nice event. I wish more local car shows were as classy as this. Where the owner’s can have a fun and informative conversation rather that being around a bunch of brooding Fast N Loud wannabes.

These are really elegant Pininfarina designs and still relatively affordable compared to other Ferraris. Nice to know the owner is tackling maintenance and repairs himself.

Brett's '83 400i 2+2 is stunning. This personal luxury proportioned icon is the only Ferrari that captures my attention.
I remember seeing Whitney Houston's 18k mile, Blue Serra Metallic, with Creme leather interior, '88 412 for sale several years ago.
    Thanks for posting Adam.

The midnengine cars get all the attention, but I love the front engine Ferraris. These are so cleanly styled and really just a great example of sporty exotic looks while still being a "practical" car, as much as a Ferrari can be. GT cars are awesome! The owner is also a fantastic guy, I'd love to see more of him on the channel in the future.

Buick had to be channeling this car when they came up with the front end for the Regatta.
390mm wheels? He could sell his used tires to the early Four Eye Fox Mustang/Capri/Thunderbird/Cougar guys for their TRX wheels!! Someone actually manufactured 16" TRX replicas to mitigate the tire issue. Ford also used 365mm wheels on some Escorts and Lynxs, probably mostly on the EXP and LN7.
That blue is beautiful! And in the background, that 2nd gen Corvair two door hardtop - those are a good looking car!

Not particularly fast from traffic lights but at speed it really shifts and unlike other cars handles brilliantly at high speed 100 mph and way above. And you can take friends! A great car.

      - the wheels on that 400i are 390mm in diameter, part of the Michelin TRX family, a series of low profile tires introduced by them in the mid 70's. All TRX tires utilized metric sized wheel rims (instead of inches). TRX tires are still available today through specialized retailers that deal with classic/vintage vehicle tires.

There was a local mail carrier in my neighborhood back in the 90s that used one of these, imported via gray market from the UK. It was back when carriers used their own vehicles to deliver the mail and it was ideal since it was right-side drive…automatic, of course, since manual tranny cars weren’t allowed!

Interesting that the "year of manufacture" plate is actually stamped "79" but it appears Michigan kept stamping plates "79" through 1983 and just putting stickers on them... except for vanity plates which did get 80/81/82/83 stampings. 1984 was the first year for the white on blue plate style that they ran for decades.

415 tire sizes stock for the 400i. Not 390. 390 is the early Mondial and Injected 308 tire sizes, and Fox Ford option from 79 to 84.5 . I just think the car is perfect, but wouldn't it have been better with the SwitchPitch THM400 torque converter and a taller axle ratio?

Regarding local car shows mentioned by another commenter…I agree, I found car shows in the metro Detroit area to be more interactive and enjoyable than here in DFW. The 100 degree July-Augusts affect that, and most cars here are your typical often seen hit rids. On the upside, we never really have to put our cars away fir winter.
