Look, first of all perez isnt a perfect president. Surely he had mistakes during his time in Madrid. But if you look at Ramon calderon's mistakes, he also sacked fabio capello straight after won laliga, during his time Madrid made a infamous winter transfer (Lassana Diarra & Huntelaar) only to find that only one of them can play in UCL according to UEFA rules, and not to mentioned the transfer of Julien Faubert (a man who famously known slept in bench during his time in Madrid). Calderon also known for his "less interest" towards youth team as suggested by former youth coaches in Madrid during his time who resigned.
Also, the information that Woodgate was signed based on fifa rating was solely comes from Ramon Calderon's interview and never been confirmed by other people besides him. I mean if you want do the same things, there are way more bad rumours surrounding Ramon Calderon. He even resigned because of allegations that addressed to him.
Sure, Perez isn't a perfect president. But during his time, Madrid has transformed into a massive success from financial side, won total of 5 UCL in his time (3 UCL in a row which never been done before) and has put a blueprint for Madrid to be a successful club in long term (Renovation of stadium, Signing of promising young players in wake of domination of rich clubs such as PSG, City, and put a well balance wage structure within the club). As a fan, surely to say for me I am glad that he is the president of the club, not Calderon.
