This album is simply fantastic. Although it consists of re-recordings of previously released songs, I think it's her best album. Period. And this version of "Confide in Me" trumps the original album version for me.
I agree that this version is overall superior, but I just wish it had the main strings from the original. Not necessarily as prominent as in the original, but at least if they came in for the last chorus.
Interesting to think about what wouldve been the impact if this were the original. I love this so hard but would I have felt the same way if I didn't have the memory of the original version? Would it have worked for as many people. I am digging the Massive Attack vibes and it fits my musical tastes completely but the strings were such a great hook. I didn't even know about this album til Google Home played it when I asked for "Confide In Me". I thought itade a mistake and was playing the wrong song. 😁

actually she did this approach after Hurts cover of her song which she found is better after she performed it with them on several tours, which is great from a great singer like her.
