- Last week we took you to Beaufort, SC as we try to escape cold weather in our last trip in our 2021 Winnebago Revel in 2020. This week we cross the SC/Georgia line and head to St. Simons Island, GA where we find an awesome spot to camp that is both FREE and RIGHT ON THE BEACH! We’ll show you around this quaint little town in this episode.

You might try putting a little Vicks under your nose the next time you empty your cassette toilet. Nurses use that trick to keep from smelling something worse.

Another good time with VTL and Maggie. So many neat places to visit in the south that Is easily passed by but very interesting. The bit of the crane and tearing the ship apart was so interesting to me being from the Great Lakes area and my soon to be family member is a salvage diver. Amazing and dangerous job. We’ve wanted to do that several times, but we don’t want to leave Maggie in the van by herself that long. I’ve heard it’s really nice. Thanks for the suggestion.
Some of the tree spirits need to see a happy dance. They look kind of grumpy. Cassette toilets are efficient and convenient but not for everyone. Maybe a composting toilet should be a consideration. Keep on dancin”.
I thought the same thing about the tree sprits, they all looked sad. I think composting would be a great idea. Thanks for the suggestion.

I get it with the smaller van and how to utilize the space. I have a 13 ft. Scamp so I can easily pull with my Subaru Outback Me and two Siberians. Perfect, but like you guys always looking to best utilize it. We just got it before covid lockdown so we have only camped a couple of weeks. Hope to maybe see you out there when this craziness is under control. Live your channel.

Seeing that clean Revel reminded me that I have to go get the Flying Chicken and scrub of 7,000 miles of dirt and grime from my trip. Thank you for the St. Simons Island information. We have driven by the exit a hundred times and always say we want to go visit and never do because it was in the middle of our daylong drive between NC to FL or FL to NC. Soon we will visit. Maybe in time the RV parks will add a tall tube in the dump area like they have in Europe to deal with cassette tanks.😀😀

Next weeks video will be in Jekyll Island. We love that place! I’m not sure how jealous Maggie would be with a dog around all the time, maybe one day... but we may need a bigger RV.

If I would take time, I could go to SSI everytime I come into town. I'm always too busy! Hunting for fishing floats on Jekyll Island is a favorite past time in January and February. Glad you enjoyed your time on the island.

Beautiful area guys! We saw that overturned ship from Jekyll Island in Jan 2020 on our way down to Florida. I'd hate to see the state of the cars in there now!
You could actually see it better from Jekyll than from St Simons. It was pretty amazing and sad.

Don’t know if is possible but you may want to consider changing out your toilet for a Nature’s Head composting toilet. Much much more pleasant to manage. Happy travels and happy holidays! Love your videos!

@@VANTREKKINGlifestyle After 20+ years RV’ing it’s the best solution yet. I don’t think we will ever go back to anything else. It’s super easy to manage the liquids and for solids you can go 2-3mos depending on usage in between empties. Can’t beat that. Hope it can work for you.

We didn’t want to push our luck by setting up the table and chairs. That is a good idea though.

5:13 y’all should invest in an “Instant Pot” #instantpot it’s the best van life pressure cooker, you can also sear meat, crock pot stews chili’s, slow cook etc...very multi use and all in a small space saving package too.
We do have an Instant Pot and agree it’s really good for van life, I just need to pack it in the Revel. Thanks for the suggestion.

I was there years ago and found a small park on the water where it was (at that time) legal to park overnight, even had a dump station!
It's probably gone now.... :(

Hi to you all. Over the last few years we had traveled to Charleston area and the KOA in Mt. Pleasant is nice. Now in Charleston The Battery, White Point Garden the outside lane near the water Murray Blvd. We have talked to 3 different people that have stayed over night class B vans and one Truck camper ect. They said they say the night and leave during the day to explore and come back for the night. It’s nice there and a lot to do and eat 👍 Also just across the Ravel Bridge there is a nice Welcome center and park.
So what was the verdict of front vs back living? Haven't seen any options that look comfortable for long term sitting and relaxation in the back. Don't think we'll ever see Lynn rolling that #$%@ case, lol! Smart lady!
When we reviewed the video I told Owen we should have told the verdict on front vs back. We do use both areas but if we watch TV we used the back. I want say I want roll the #$%@ case but it will have to be an emergency. Thanks for watching.

It's a beach parking area. Your can find it by using iOverlander app.
Ya bad idea sharing the overnight spot. By summer there will be 20 campers and soon there after will be no overnight camping signs.
We didn’t share the exact spot but it was on iOverlander so you’re probably right. It’s a fine line. Hope it’s still there when we roll back through.
Did you just park at a condo? did you have to pay to park there through the night?
It was a parking area Publix beach access between 2 condo buildings. It was free.
It seems that “suitcase” of yours just might fit in an overhead bin.
Yes... but I pity the flight attendant that tries to pull that thing down... or the folks sitting in the seat under it. 😂 I’ll let you give it a go next year if you want. Stay safe friends.
Did you have permission to park in the beach access
We did not have permission, but there were “no overnight” signs. We did find it on the iOverlander app where others had stated it was an ok place to stay.
It will probably be forbidden in short order because others will abuse the spot
There is a Walmart nearby that forbids overnight parking the manager said people started treating it like a campground and staying for multiple nights
Nope. Ain’t gonna happen. I’ll empty the black tank but cassette toilets are man’s work.
