I cant help but feel like it is so underappreciated how good the engineering on this figure is. This is the cleanest jet former I've ever seen. And the robot mode has just such minor differences from the non transforming 3m figure. Zeta toys knocked it out of the park with this guy.

He's not even named in the movie and had a different name in the screenings, so really they only named him Blitzwing for the toys.
I think it's CRAZY how "solid" the jet mode looks, and then, to watch pieces fold and shift is absolutely nuts! The engineering that went into this guy to get such good looking modes!! And of course the robot!! My god, it's a thing of beauty! Such a great job on showing us the process, you are the man Emgo. I know you probably won't read this, but still. Great Review, and get that he's in a CLASS of his own, however, it would have been a BUY from a guy that is only interested in MP Scale, if his Alt mode was in line with the SEEKERs Alt modes. His Alt mode is INSANE! Hits it out of the Park. Just a shame that he doesn't scale very well with the MP line/3P MPs. Otherwise he is amazing.

The MA was Zeta's prototype R&D design. They weren't to happy with it and sold their first prototype to MA and went about refining their previous mold.
@@andreyofdoom I'm not too sure about that info. Giving the fact that Zeta first prototype photo is the MA version. You can google it and see for yourself. The MA was sold that mold by ZETA. Zeta went about improving what would be called "FLASH" by the inconsistencies in their original mold. Somewhat like BMB had done with Knights Orion by ToyWorld. BmB sold TW the mold. And l am certain they were happy they did. That figure is transforming disaster that has been noted for it QC issues including breakage. But, anyway. Zeta sold their original Mold to MA/BMB.

In the movie, Blitzwing was an F-4C Phantom II, but this version and Mechanical Alliance's version are F-4Es. The main difference is the nose area ahead of the cockpit. The F-4C was shorter in length but had a larger stubby black nosecone with a IR sensor below. The F-4E was much longer (esp. the area between the cockpit and nosecone) with a smaller black nosecone and long bulge underneath housing the 20 mm Vulcan cannon.
great review, i still prefer the mechanical alliance because he is more screen accurate with the logos and the USAF. and the jet mode looks cleaner. But i like the fact that the legs parts can tab together on this one
But the jet mode on the MA version is WAY OFF... The tail planes are tiny and look like a child’s drawing. I didn’t get it just for that reason. It has nice painting, though.

Can you imagine this painted in a more camo version and with operstional insignias and make a vietnam style diorama or it or even repaint it into a g1 starscream look
I actually have the mechanical alliance one, and I like the way it looks in robot mode and it’s more stiff joints except I couldn’t get the panels to close all the way. I got the zeta and on my copy the wings are so loose that they don’t stay in place and one of the fingers broke off so I keep the zeta toys in jet mode and the mechanical alliance in robot mode.
I have bought the Mechanical Alliance version a while ago and after watching a few reviews of the Zeta Toys version, I thought it is worth buying this one and get rid of the Mechanical Alliance, especially because I got 30% discount, which is amazing. But, boy I was so wrong! Maybe it's just my copy, but let me tell you why I was wrong. 1. The paint and the screen accuracy are much better done on the Mechanical Alliance. That metallic vibe and the dirty look on him, plus the attention to details, in terms of his alien tattoos, are spot on to the way he shows on screen. 2. While the transformation is slightly less frustrating on the Zeta Toys and everything stays tabbed in, during the whole transformation pieces just kept falling off and ball jointed panels kept on poping off, which never happened with the Mechanical Alliance in the past, and I transformed him so many times, that I lost count. 3. Some pieces on the Zeta Toys version are so well tabbed in, that I am afraid they will break whilst getting them undone, which actually happened to one of his shoulders. 4. Lastly but not leastly, while posing Zeta Toys and Mechanical Alliance in their robot modes, I did the "shaking" test. Guess who lost its balance in the next second: that's right, Zeta Toys. I kept on turning and tilting his lower legs, upper legs, the feet... to the same result. He just kept falling on the back whilst doing the test. So, while I agree with the fact that Zeta Toys holds the pieces together better and it is easier to pose, my preferred version is Mechanical Alliance. As I mentioned earlier in my comment, maybe it's just my copy, so I don't want to discourage anyone from buying it. By all means, you like what you like and you might get a good version of it, but take it with a grain of salt.

Finally got this guy and came with more problems than expected. Loose wings and the metal chest piece won't stay on during transformation(Is that normal?) and some ball joints in the leg panels came with stress marks. A tad dissapointed but it still looks amazing and just needs some socket tightener

5:10 correct me if I'm wrong but based on the model of F4 that blitzwing is (which I think to be an F4A), those are AIM 9 Sidewinders on the sides and AIM 7s or skyflashes on the bottom I believe. 5:20 I also think those are either AIM 7 sparrows or skyflashes.

PSA @29:05: this part can break, broke on mine. The connection between the rotatable piece and the rest of the wing is supported by a single piece of plastic. Wished it was diecast or at least a solid connection. This is an added connection, molded separately from plastic bulk. Showz is helping me to get it sorted out...meanwhile apoxie putty to the rescue. Nice figure overall.
Only thing that would make him really good, if he was a successful triple changer like he was in the movie. I ordered him, gonna look good in my collection.
It is interesting that in the movie blitzwing it was not a triplechanger, and that an F-4E Phantom II was chosen for its alternate form, I had chosen the Mig-31 Foxhound (this was one of its original alternate modes) or the Mig-25 Foxbat.
That would have been cool. They could have used an F-15 Eagle to make it more controversial, since the Eagle was replacing the Phantom as the Air Force's main fighter. Maybe the filmakers have something against twin finned, twin podded engines with boxy variable inlet air intakes? The original alt modes for Blitzwing was the Mitsubishi Type 74 tank & Mig-25 Foxbat, since it was Soviet pilot Lt. Belenko who defected in a Mig-25 to Japan in 1976.
Great figure by far. But Zeta has had many complaints in regards to their assessories. Missing rockets, light fixtures etc. I personally was missing 1 kneecap and a heat seeker. It suppose to come with 8 rockets. I only had 7. It's easy to miss due to the fact that it comes with so many assessories. The worse I've heard was a few were sent to customers without the second box which comes with the wings and head. I'm still waiting for my parts. So if you decide to purchase this piece be certain to make sure you have everything. If not contact you vendor immediately. Outside of that.....its a masterpiece and l love it.
Im so nervous to buy either of these figures. They both look great but im really worried about them breaking and not getting the parts. Which one would be the better option to get?
@@michaelcunningham2111 its cleaner, smoother and not as cumbersome as the MA. The MA is just too sloppy and floppy. His legs do not tab in. Loose joints. Vehicle mode. Aesthetically has too many inconsistencies in regards to accuracy. Rear tail wings are too small. And overall just do not hold together very well. The ZETA is the best bet

Why can’t they have Thunder Warrior’s gorgeous deco on THIS model? To have the best of both worlds, I feel like some custom painting is almost imperative. I wonder why they decided to skimp so much on what they’d already seen was the biggest praise point on the “rough draft?”
This thing is breaking for a bunch of people on TFW2005 And 3 out of 5 of the last 3rd party figures I got broke so I don't know if I'll bother getting them anymore.
It’s not a lack of quality issue it’s because lately the 3rd party stuff has been so over engineered that they become very fragile. I get too scared to even transform mine and just keep them in robot mode lol

Well, both the F-4E and the A10 have a gatling gun mounted under the nose. 20 mm and 30 mm respectively. The F-4E was 20 years earlier.

11 months later had to give him up because he kept having issues and one day the arm just fell off. Sold it to get another figure

The original alt modes for Blitzwing was the Mitsubishi Type 74 tank & Mig-25 Foxbat, since it was Soviet pilot Lt. Belenko who defected in a Mig-25 to Japan in 1976.
I’m guessing it’s for story purposes. A MiG flying in continental USA is not a Robot in Disguise

Great figure by far. But Zeta has had many complaints in regards to their assessories. Missing rockets, light fixtures etc. I personally was missing 1 kneecap and a heat seeker. It suppose to come with 8 rockets. I only had 7.
It's easy to miss due to the fact that it comes with so many assessories. The worse I've heard was a few were sent to customers without the second box which comes with the wings and head.
I'm still waiting for my parts. So if you decide to purchase this piece be certain to make sure you have everything. If not contact you vendor immediately.
Outside of that.....its a masterpiece and l love it.
Im so nervous to buy either of these figures. They both look great but im really worried about them breaking and not getting the parts. Which one would be the better option to get?

@@michaelcunningham2111 its cleaner, smoother and not as cumbersome as the MA. The MA is just too sloppy and floppy. His legs do not tab in. Loose joints. Vehicle mode. Aesthetically has too many inconsistencies in regards to accuracy. Rear tail wings are too small. And overall just do not hold together very well. The ZETA is the best bet

Why can’t they have Thunder Warrior’s gorgeous deco on THIS model? To have the best of both worlds, I feel like some custom painting is almost imperative.

And 3 out of 5 of the last 3rd party figures I got broke so I don't know if I'll bother getting them anymore.
It’s not a lack of quality issue it’s because lately the 3rd party stuff has been so over engineered that they become very fragile. I get too scared to even transform mine and just keep them in robot mode lol
